The TL-S is what made me fall in love with the SV. A pilot in my Harrier squadron had a naked TL, and it was a sick bike. Still love these gorgeous machines.
I did also. 98 TL1000s, black with the S on the tank in red, the rest of logo was white. That bike almost killed me, my own fault of course, broke right leg in 3 parts (almost lost it) and nothing else, had full leathers on. Very deceiving power mid/high range if that's a way to describe it, first couple of times I rode it got totally surprised and a little scary, but got used to it. Loved every second I rode it, but this is was not a beginner's bike. Once you pass 95 mph on the highway the front tire started to shake a little so I changed the steering damper and was fine after that more or less. In essence, best bike I ever had, as you said, with all its quirks. As soon as I could walk on canes after recoup, fixed it and back on it until I sold it. I always knew what I had between my legs and how to deal with it, big fan v-twin bikes, wish I could find one in good conditions to buy it again, but my wife wouldn't let me tho, I'm 63.
The TL looks great and is in perfect condition. It looks almost new. Can't believe it's 25 years old. I love that V twin sound. Too bad that these race cans are not street legal in Germany.
'97 1000s Owner here 😁 Yoshi cam's, Yoshi full system, RGV N race bike front calipers, locked centre clutch, Harris rear sets and fairing mount, EBC discs, Harris rear brake arm, power commander, remapped ECU etc etc. Proper old school weapon and the sound at full chat... 😎
Put a Hayabusa radial front end in mine , got rid of the stock damper and spring and added a Bitubo adjustable rear shock. Now so much better in and out of corners. Added a Power commander and had it tuned. Welded clutch centre to get rid of that annoying play in the clutch and converted the cable clutch to hydraulic.
Lovely review, these Twins are amazing bikes without modern tech enhancements, just raw hand to throttle traction control. Still one has to be carful and have fun Appling the torque.
I know what you mean , I just got a 98 TLS 5 days ago an?been riding it every day thus far.. Am learning how to ride it .. Altho trying to take off fast from standing still is not easy as all it wants to do is go up 😅 in 1st,2nd,3rd and even 4th ... Had it upto 280 kph ( and it still had heaps more there ) tonight in light raining an windy conditions never got tank slap once , And that's running no front steering damper at the moment ... Yes that's pretty stupid of me ...
Nice ride ~ I've also got a 97' TL1000S \m/ Mine just got a custom Red and White paint job, and too many extras to list here. I put a carbon fiber belly pan and front/rear hugger on it, and I did get the rear damper conversion and forks done. . It feels as safe as any other death machine I've ever owned ;p And these bikes get compliments everywhere. Sure, it's not the fastest, but it's got style and character for days. I bought mine with a full Yosi Exhaust, but I replaced it with Akrapovic. I'm still not satisfied, looking at grabbing M4 or Pipewerx cans. I want a more tame idle so I can hear when I'm stopped, until I give it the beans of course ~
Such a Beautiful Looking Machine! I'm a VTR1000 Owner, but I'd Love to get a TLs - Their getting pretty pricey though! It's aShame about the Rotary Shock Fiasco! It would have been one of all time V-Twin Greats! 🙏Rip to Warner- He was a Obviously a Man of Discerning Taste in Motorcycles -Cheers 👍😁🇦🇺🍺
Have a 97 to restore was my friends I ran my pro road race team for 30 plus years and watched the yoshimura riders Steve Creviar and Pascal Picate crashed them to hell especially at Daytona l still can't wait to build this one🔥
It’s not a DAMPNER FFS, it’s a damper.. 😂 you must have said it 20 times off your script, lol. But yeah, all the usual stuff regurgitated. Nice example. Like the dark green. Mine is Black. Loving it. Not as fast as I thought it was going to be though…. 🤨
I've got a SV 1000 cerrozerra forged aluminium wheels,, and an ohlins shock,,tl 1000 forks ,, nowadays they are worth money 💰💰💰 but my K6GSXR is my favourite bike ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️ from northern Ireland
Hi, nice TL and good vid. Good idea to change the rear suspension up to something more conventional instead of the rotary damper setup. How do u like to ride it? Its all smiles and feel special riding such a bike.
Compete with new bikes??? On the road yes of course! I race with big bang Yamaha, and it was fun. About fancy dash? Then No. Thats it. Love it tourqe, irregular trottle respond. Sound Amaizing. Sv1000s is like honda 50cc compare with tl1000s. I have2 of them. Tl is amazing. I still think rotary damper works good for me. Maybe because I live in Ireland. Good lock

Since when did anyone care about legal cans? Not legal here either. Do I care? Nope...
Best sounding bike on the road
SV is better
@@cowarddonnie-ji5yz it's the same motor, come down to pipes
@@JimBob-qh8gl which is exactly my point, which points out your post is useless.
I had a 2000 SV650S in 2002. Had the goto CF M4 exhaust with the proper carb sync and re-jet. Was a great city bike even for an experienced rider.

Yes. The carbon yoshis without doubt made this the 'best sounding bike in the lot'. Weak at the knees...
