I wish, it has opposite effect to me. To me it sounds soulless and lifeless generic teenage metal mumble. Anyhow, I cheer any band that brings metal to the masses and wish them success (which they obviously already have) 🤘

@@JuhaSalm To each their own. Some of their songs with the arrangement and the meaning underlying have gotten me to tears quite a few times or atleast brought me chills. They've sold me on many different topics such as love, bullying, togetherness, grit and perseverance with a lot of their songs. I understand it's not for everyone though, just like I probably will not like things you love. As long as we respect the fact people have different tastes and expectations in art and music, it's all fine :).
I must say I have a hard time associating BABYMETAL with the word generic though. I'd agree that this song for instance is based off a generic power metal architecture but what BABYMETAL brings on the table isn't something you encounter every day. But if you can find me bands that do similar music to BABYMETAL, I'll be happy to take notes!

    • @JuhaSalm

@@Zedem0n It is just my preference. I've listened rock & metal almost 40 years now and I have never cared about power metal or metal where everything is just big or fast just for show. Another draw back is weak vocals - with no uniqueness - which is the "curse" of over 90% of metal bands in my opinion. I also know that I'm in the minority group with my tastes, since showy metal and power metal are hugely popular genres. Luckily there is plenty of music for all to enjoy and support.

    • @Zedem0n

@@JuhaSalm To be perfectly honest with you, I do not like power metal either. I'm not a huge fan of BABYMETAL's power metal songs, including this one or Arkadia. So I'm in the minority with you here.
Fortunately, BM only has a handful of power metal songs (I can think of 3 or maybe 4 if you count IDZ but I wouldn't). That leaves me with plenty of other options to choose from :).

She's a good singer. To me it's the other two girls Yui and Moa that are really exceptional. They match perfectly and have off the charts charisma. They were really lucky, their talent agency didn't have a lot of girls to choose from. Yui and Moa were the youngest and the best dancers by far. They are exactly the same size and only 2 weeks apart in age. So lucky. Their talent agency only had 10 girls within 2 years of Suzuka Nakamoto. There was no other possible pair that made any sense. Ayaka would be great. She's gorgeous and an actress now. She's in Alice in Borderland just got a season 3 on Netflix. But there was nobody her size to match her with.

@@TheThamesmen I don't recall anything special they do to get through the censorship. There's an interlude where the girls interact with the crowd that people naturally pause at to comment. Amuse has been pretty lenient with reactions to official uploads, it's the third party uploads that get into the grey area.
I compiled a list of live performances (many of them seamless compilations), that I've seen success with on reactions. Most are more recent performances of songs when available.

RoR is usually the show closer for most Babymetal concerts, so the show ends on a massive high note.
The frenetic guitars on this song were written by Herman Li and Sam Totman of Dragonforce and they played on the studio recording of the song. They have also performed live with Babymetal several times including at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods awards show in 2015.
This video is a great example of how important the crowd is as a part of the overall performance of Babymetal and why seeing them live (ideally in Japan) is the only proper way to experience them.

    5:50 Reaction start
Welcome to the Foxhole and BabyMetal's journey 🦊🤘🔥
You started your BM ride with a great song but i highly suggest you to get original live performance clips such the official live in Japan to feel the real BM experience ending the show just like they're doing in every live concerts at Sabaton's Europe Tour. They consider UK as their second home, that's so much love and respect, since you're in the US then you're lucky coz the girls will be performing with the Babyklok Tour and i hope you got the chance to see them live and enjoying these early BM era songs and the new album songs. Good thing you some info too, I'm gonna put a suggestion in my next comment where to get clips safe to react. Lemme tell you a brief basic info about them:
BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old when started this and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms. Their name is a reference to a new genre and not related to their ages or "baby" faces, is a pun intended play words with "heavy-metal" which sounds similar to "baby-metal".
    They are (in these performance):
    *SuMetal* lead vocalist.
    *MoaMetal* scream and dance.
*YuiMetal* scream and dance, former member since 2018.
    None of them are related.
After that year you'll see backup dancers performing along with them but none of them were official members, but now they got a new official member called:
*MomoMetal* and we love her for sure, she's coming from the same roots just like the girls.
_Road Of Resistance_ is a power/speed metal song, is one of their most epic anthem and got the guitar arrangements made by Sam Totman and Herman Li from DragonForce, and is all about facing your own path without looking back.
The wall of death is nuts just like you noticed, is also called "mosh'sh pit", different from usual mosh pit because this one is safe to participate if you fall everyone will stop until you get up and get ready to keep going with the fun ride.
The Kami Band here are magnificent set of elite musicians who were send to help the girls with the metal sound, they rotate so probably you won't see some of them in all live concerts (specially the guitarrists), all of them are males.
BM fans love some members of this band but none of them are official members of this group not even permanent, they only play live, so when you heard album tracks remember they aren't playing there.
If you like this type of metal genre then you're gonna love another previous song from first album called *"Ijime Dame Zettai"* live at Sonisphere Festival 2014 and witness a precious and epic moment on their career with the UK crowd. You can find that clip in the official channel but just be careful coz sometimes is getting blocked issues.
You got it alright with the Tokyo Dome 2016 performance, it was their peak moment with the original trio.
See you next time and kitsune up! 🦊🤘🔥

Here's some examples of safe to react live performances:
      - "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" live at Legend 1997 (2013, you can find this a "Gans Tomas" or "abr metal") or live at Legend I (2012).
      - "Rondo Of Nightmare" with Mischiefs Of Gods Intro live at Budokan 2014, this one normally is safe to react without any filters. ("Kawaii Metal" got this)
      - "Catch Me If You Can", you got live at Budokan 2014 with subtitles version at GuilhermeCait.
      - "Ijime Dame Zettai" live at Sonisphere Festival 2014 (lately hasn't been so safe, so careful)
      - "Karate" live at Download Festival 2016 ("kitsune6001" got this one)
      - Distortion, live at Download Festival 2018 or Rock Am Ring 2018, official got the Download Festival version and is safe to react.
Sometimes there has been issues with certain songs so if you got those try to put opacity, blur or translucent effect, that might help a little bit.
Thanks for sharing your BabyMetal reactions and reading this humble recommendation. 🦊🤘

I had a great 6 months crossing things off my bucket list (starting with Nightwish last November) and saw BM with Lordi and Sabaton in Leeds in April. They were fantastic, so much energy! It was a well-matched lineup because all three put on very theatrical shows in different ways - BM felt almost like metal ballet at times. RoR was the closer, and huge fun because of the audience interaction...even if the Brits could barely "part the ways" on Su's signal (to be fair it was pretty packed, but also I think we do have a bit more reserve). I would definitely recommend seeing them if you get the chance!

By the way, there is a reason why many people recommend Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (OFFICIAL) when it comes to this song.
Live in Japan (OFFICIAL) is more than just an ordinary song, it is as if it were a complete show, a theatrical piece of value. It is just perfect. It is so perfect that as a fan, I feel that adding anything extra would destroy a great piece of work.

    Road of Resistance:-
"Road of Resistance" is a song by the Japanese Kawaii metal band Babymetal. The song was released worldwide as a digital single on February 1, 2015 by Toy's Factory, serving as the lead single off the international re-release of the album Babymetal, as well the opening track from Metal Resistance.
    "Road of Resistance":-
    •Single by Babymetal.
    •Album: Metal Resistance.
    •Language: Japanese, English.
    •Released: February 1, 2015.
    •Genre: Kawaii metal, power metal.
    •Length: 5:19.
•Label: BMD Fox, Toy's Factory, Sony Music Entertainment.
    •Composer: Mish-Mosh, Norimetal, Kyt-metal.
•Lyricist: Kitsune of Metal God, Mk-metal, Kxbxmetal.
    •Producer: Kobametal.
    •Kyoto: (arrangement).
    Babymetal singles chronology:-
    •"Megitsune" (2013).
    •"Road of Resistance" (2015).
    •"Gimme Chocolate!!" (2015).
    Background and release:-
"Road of Resistance" includes guest appearances by DragonForce guitarists Herman Li and Sam Totman.
The song would be used to mark the beginning of the band's lore, Metal Resistance Episode III, at the concert held on November 8, 2014 at O2 Brixton Academy in London, which was also the final tour date for the band's Babymetal World Tour 2014.
A trailer for the song was released on January 5, 2015, integrating footage from the debut performance of the song in London. The song was first released as a digital bonus track off the live album Live at Budokan: Red Night, with limited editions of the album containing a download card with a code to download the song at no additional charge. The song was later released as a dedicated digital single on the iTunes Store on February 1, 2015.
Li and Totman are featured on guitars, although they are listed as featured artists in various regions of the re-release of the album Babymetal, on which the song appears as a bonus track, mainly in the United Kingdom.
    Composition:-
Rolling Stone described the song as "power metal" with "shiny pop harmonies". Rock Sound called the song "everything we’d expect from [Babymetal] with a bit of Dragonforce’s exhilarating, flame-fingered guitar added in for good measure." Matt Evans of The List called the song an "empowering hyperspeed anthem". According to Kadokawa, the song consists of twin shred guitars courtesy of Li and Totman, with a dynamic sound derived of melodic speed metal. The lyrics are described as a narrative on the Metal Resistance, which the band adopted on their world tour. It has also been considered the "final stage" of Babymetal and the prologue to Metal Resistance, and a transition performance that demonstrates the band's growth from the previous album.
According to Su-metal, the song refers to the Metal Resistance lore, described as "the story of Babymetal traveling across the world in the hopes of creating a new metal to unify the world as we break through the barriers of language and borders. In the middle of the song there is a part where we go, ‘Wow, Wow’ and this is where our fans from around the world can sing with us at our concerts. I hope people will listen to our album and support us at our shows." Yuimetal stated in an interview with Metal Hammer that "Road of Resistance" is her favorite song from Metal Resistance, explaining that it "has been performed at so many concerts, so a lot of memories are jam-packed. The lyrics are positive, the sound is so cool, and [the] dance is so powerful."
•Recorded by Watametal and Adrian Breakspear.
    •Mixed by Ettore Rigotti
    Personnel:-
    •Suzuka Nakamoto (Su-metal) - Main vocals.

    Lyrics Overview:-
The light of the smoke signal that dyes the eastern sky bright red
    東の空を 真っ赤に染める 狼煙の光が
A new way to signal the end of the darkness of loneliness
    孤独の闇の 終わりを告げる 新たな道しるべ
Burn the flames of your heart as many times as you like
    くじけても 何度でも 心の炎を燃やせ
Now is the time! Is the time!
Now is the time! Is the time!
    Now this moment

    Forever! Forever!

Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow In the depths of my heart
Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow 心の奥に
Burning steel soul That is our resistance
    燃える 鋼鉄魂 それが僕らの resistance
    Wow, wow, wow, wow
    Wow, wow, wow, wow
Never turn your back as long as your life lasts
    命が続く限り 決して背を向けたりはしない
    Today makes tomorrow

    そう 僕らの未来 on the way
    Resistance! Resistance!

Stand up and shout! Justice forever!

The music is good but I struggle to get past the principal of the shop front and back office approach to presenting music that is prevalent in a lot of K and J music and derives from the whole Idol system. I need to see the full team given prominence and not just the attractive receptionists. Still they have an amazing following both at home and abroad so clearly not everyone shares my reservations.

    • @Grington300
      @Grington300 Рік тому +4

They were actually formed entirely around the talents of the girls - in particular around lead vocalist Su-metal. The live band was only added after they had found an audience (that nobody expected to happen) and they were phased in gradually from late 2012 (when it was decided Babymetal would separate from their parent group, leave the Idol system and become an independent band) only becoming the full time support for all live shows early in 2014, over 3 years after Babymetal had started.
So the "attractive receptionists" really are the main talent (with a lot of top level and also incredibly talented support now of course, but they had work hard to to earn that).
I hope that helps a bit with your reservations - I will just add that if you ever see or read any interviews the girls themselves are incredibly humble and appreciative of all the support they get from "Team Babymetal" and the fans.
