    Amazing, all those years of experience in Japan showing through in the application of techniques. Bold move killing off the right branch but it just shows how much vision Bjorn has and knows what will work and how the tree will look when it's styled. Great video, great skill.

    Excellent video and a beautiful job. Can you explain, when setting the pot at such an angle, how you progress the tree to be at the new angle but the pot becomes horizontal. I have seen many such demonstrations but this last development has never been mentioned. PS I have just sent another small one-off donation but don't give up the day job yet.

    As I am super new to the whole topic, I don't understand where the tilted pot will end.
    Will it be repoted so the roots will level out over time or what is the process?

    Hi
    Random question for you.
    I use to watch your earlier videos and I noticed some of the episodes of art or bonsai are missing.
    Would it be possible to repost or tell me which one has the maple trimming in.
    I believe the video had close ups of a mountain maple being trimmed back before the buds broke.
    Very helpful video but I can't find it

    Hello I would like to know if you can do maples in places like texas

    • @thechinkcat4469
      @thechinkcat4469 4 роки тому +2

      Hey, if you live in or near the hill country there's a nursery called jade bonsai and they sell bonsai maples, mostly Japanese trident maple, but if you know the maple tree well you want to bonsai well you can do it, the hardest part is keeping the leaves small with enough light but not too much to where the tree gets hurt. One suggestion is, if you live in south texas try to keep it in morning sun mostly as I've come to find its hard to keep a lot of those trees and types of plants alive with the afternoon sun and heat.

  • @betabenja

    I know nothing about bonsai. It does seem, though, that there is a 'bonsai shape' where by all the trees, regardless of their natural shape in the wild. It seems to fit to a pattern which is roughly a bell curve, where the shape is formed with branches which are almost weeping out in splayed plateaus like outstretched hands. is that a fair evaluation of a 'classic' bonsai style?

    • @rolineland5207

    • @thechinkcat4469
      @thechinkcat4469 4 роки тому +1

      Yes it's usually it's the most commonly approach when styling trees as it helps to give an aged and weather appearance, making the tree look more older than it is. That's one of the main reasons I know of, but perhaps there's more.

    Hi Bjorn once again I commend your incredible skills but this time i wonder if this could have turned out better. In this case, i find that the second part of the main trunk is almost parallel to the groud (something you've taught us not to do in so many videos) and is way too long compared to the rest of the composition. Mind, this is NOT intended as a critique but as a design discussion. Thank you so much anyway for the great posts.

    How come some of the tree is white and some is brown? What causes that?

    • @Akaikar
      @Akaikar 4 роки тому

      Brown is the bark of the live vein. Once it is removed, like ob the fresh gin, you can see the yellowish wood underneath. With time the dead wood will be weathered and white or gray.

  • @stanhawkins1023
    @stanhawkins1023 4 роки тому +3

    Will this ultimately be repotted so that the pot can sit flat?

  • @christopherfrechette
    @christopherfrechette 4 роки тому

    I think I actually like the angle at 27:38 better as a front. You lose a lot of the dead wood now hidden the back but it feels like a more complete tree and movement in the trunk feels way better.
