What I want to know is why 16 people decided to give a thumbs down on a free video for training of a bonsai? I've been watching Bjorn's videos for years now, and he's concise, easy to listen to and helpful with his subscribers.
I agree, I consider Ryan Neil and Bjorn to be the 2 top class u tubers. But there subscribers and viewers don’t reflect this. Especially with Ryan neils Chanel. Maybe most people not super into bonsai don’t realise this.
People can be dicks..simple as that..Bonsai is just one of a few hobbies that I follow, and by far the people are into bonsai tend to be the most helpful and kind to each other..my guess is these are people who brought a tree without doing any research, and Bjorn is saying something they don't like..I'm sure they didn't realize this was something that you should be prepared for 10 to 50 years or more to see something show worthy from your endeavors.
I had a stroke in 2020 and have time to work on trees I have. my Taxus Baccata, similar to this was wired yesterday it's very scary operation. I've had the yew about 7years and have decided to start and shape it. this post was wonderful sir very clear, I forget lots so I have saved it and subscribed to see the follow up I'm 64 and want a nice tree to offer my grandson. thank you Master . clear instructions . nice edit best wishes from Suffolk, England.
Trying to keep any plant or tree in colorado alive, im giving in and just going to restart with what works and lives local 😮💨 glad to find this video.
This turned out really great. I especially like how you take the time to explain in fine detail how to achieve theses great bonsai trees. In the past i had horrible luck with them and i used to be able to grow anything, and now it seems that i got my green thumb back. I cant possibly thank you enough. Looking forward to more videos on your lovely trees.
This is GREAT! I grew up on a ranch in Central Colorado in the 1950s and 1960s, we had a Blue Spruce and I have always loved that tree, as I do the Ponderosa Pine. Last Christmas my son gave me a small Blue Spruce as a gift. Rather than planting it in the ground (here in Seattle) and having it grow into a monster, I wanted to make it a bonsai, so I could take it with us if and when we move. I am indebted for this great video! Domo Arigato! Komhapsumnita! Thanks!
The ART of, Intuition is key, just found you thrilling gross subject matter, love the wholesome vide, trees ground us in there roots, air we breath, thank you for sharing the love you have with us, much needed, peace, NEW fans.
This started out as an average looking tree and has ended up outstanding; you are a true bonsai master Bjorn and your "old man" will, I'm sure, be delighted.
I'm pretty new to Bonsai, I was surprised how amazing you made the deadwood features, particularly how Jin on the top brought the rest into balance. I'll check in on your work from time to time, rock on!
Awesome. I know you weren’t repotting but It seems that some other cool fronts developed as a result of this styling. Please shoot the repot of this one when the time comes, I’m excited to see how it evolves!
This was so great! Thank you Bjorn. You are such a great teacher, explaining your thought process all the way through. I was eyeing some Colorado blue spruce whips at a nursary today and am insprired now to work with them on a tanuki armed with the tips your brought forward in this video.
Been watching your videos for years. This is one of my favorites. In your opinion, would spruce do well in a warmer summer time climate. I live in Fresno area.
I love it how you explain your thought process.. its the best way for me to somehow understand how delicate the art of bonsai. Everytime i watch your vid i learn new thing and to my surprise if i rewatch your vid i learn even more. Thankyou so much. BANZI-U
Awesome Result Bjorn!! A nice naturalistic Tree. I like the way, if trees are not in the triangle form and have some more interesting Details above to the apex. i think your father is happy with the Result. In Germany we have Fathers Day today, so the video came out at the right time. Big up Dude. Your Impact of the new young Bonsai Way is hughe!!!
Hi Bjorn, I take the time to thank you for all your videos and advices that are so helpful. For me you are the nicest guy on youtube doing bonsaï and I mean it, and probably one of the most talented. Thanks again for taking the time to share your passion with us. I have a little question, do you know what is the equivalent of this species in France?
I wished at the end, while working with the apex, you would have brought in the camera a bit. You explained well what your plan was going to be, but for visual learners like me it is harder to "see". Loved this tutorial nonetheless, was very well explained and simple. Thanks a million!
Love the final product, keep us posted as it grows! How old is this tree? Only thing is prob too much off the top, needs unbalanced above the two horns.
Hi Bjorn, great film - really enjoying these in lockdown. I wasn't quite sure what you did with the leader. Any chance of a close up shot in the catch-up film? Thanks, Nick.
Discovering your videos for someone who is taking that one small step into the bonsai world is like applying for one of the coolest jobs of being an assembly line worker at Tesla and on the first day of work be asked by the boss to be his copilot to Mars......totally unqualified... but i will never say no🤣..... Sorry if this doesnt make any sense.... It did in my mind lol.
Such a huge and great quality information video. Really thank you to share your passion, which is also mine. Sure your father Will be impressed and really proud of you.
I have a 3 foot blue spruce planted in my front yard. Unfortunately I have to remove it and was thinking could I turn it into a bonsai tree? Put it into a pot and keep it trimmed back. When would be the best time of year to try this? Or any thoughts much appreciated Thank you
Good video! Thank you for explaining the process of thinking it’s crucial for a novice like myself. I’ve got a decent Colorado blue spruce i was wondering if i send you a picture of it could you please have a look at the tree and perhaps give us a idea of how to begin work on it.Don’t want to take much of your time, I would really appreciate any tips. I’m afraid that I might ruin it and therefore I can’t find the courage to do much with it. Thank you Kind regards Alexandru Uk
Bjorn, will Nordman spruce produce back buds in the same way after bending branches? I have some collected trees from a Christmas tree nursery which were damaged by machinery. They have nice trunks but not sure how to develope them.
Would be nice if you added a glossary of terms so viewers can simply page down to the glossary of terms to understand what you are speaking of rather than having to look up each term. That said, I really enjoy your thorough explanations without being pedantic or annoying. Good job!
I just picked up some new Blue Spruce material. It is a 'Baby Blue' cultivar. From what I have heard, the Blue Spruce can be difficult to keep the wiring design. Do you find this to be true? If so, how long do you keep the wire on to hold the position you want?
Thanks for watching! Please consider donating to Bonsai-U at bjornbjorholm.com/donate/
Donated a small amount. Thank you

Quite the transformation already. Look forward to seeing it in the future.
When you bend that branch down at 28:08... Boom! Pulls everything together. Genius.

Your skill speaks for itself, though I'd also like to say you give excellent instruction. Thank you very much.

Wow is amazing, thanks for giving us this $1000 tutorial for free, you are a master..
You and Nancy should come up to Bloomington Indiana during ginkgo nut harvesting season!!! The old ginkgo trees I believe are the “pine bark” variety
The finished shape of this tree was amazing. I love watching you work, very meticulous.
Nice work Bjorn. Would love to see a video on starting young Black pines.
Great shape. Got the makings of a beautiful umbrella
It looks completely different. I love it
Love it. The before and after shots at the end were amazing. The tree is going to be so beautiful.
One of my favourite trees you've styled so far, your father will be so pleased with the outcome.

Amazing transformation
When in doubt just whip it around!
Lol great video. Super informative and interesting! I just wish I had taken a shot every time you "whipped" it
I really liked the way you explained everything and why you were doing it. You went slow enough so I could think it through with you. Andy
I'm in knoxville too. Thats cool. Just getting into bonsai, but I love your stuff. Would enjoy a class if you've got anything like that going on.
Great transformation, I think Spruce is one of the most aesthetic trees to work with in bonsai.
Absolutely incredible. Extremely thorough and educational. Thanks for putting this amazing high quality content out!
nice, detailed and illustrative.
love the talk-through of the branch placement. great vid. -Thanks. My eye says ditch the deadwood at the apex
Awesome. I know you weren’t repotting but It seems that some other cool fronts developed as a result of this styling. Please shoot the repot of this one when the time comes, I’m excited to see how it evolves!

What a great episode! Please do more about piceas! I really want to get into picea abies bonsai, but it seems daunting.
Alberta Spruce is probably not where u want to start, quite finicky
Wonderful tree. Great work and thank you for the powerful demonstrated. Love your work 👍🤗
Stunning transformation thanks for the wisdom it has put a lot of little things into perspective
I'm disappointed Dad wasn't there and that you didn't do it together.
This was so great! Thank you Bjorn. You are such a great teacher, explaining your thought process all the way through. I was eyeing some Colorado blue spruce whips at a nursary today and am insprired now to work with them on a tanuki armed with the tips your brought forward in this video.
Another instructive and very watchable video. Thanks.
Stellar work. Stellar video. Really loved this one, and how the tree turned out. Thank you.
Been watching your videos for years. This is one of my favorites. In your opinion, would spruce do well in a warmer summer time climate. I live in Fresno area.
Dave, The Arboretum at Cal State U Fresno has Picea pungens, P. pungens f. glauca, as well as 10 pines and 7 other conifers.
Thanks John!
I love what you did there

That looks awesome, i really wish for you to try to work on bantigue(pemphis acidula) it's almost similar to juniper pine but a lot stiffed.
Beautiful work

Will you be doing any tutorials like how to wire better?
I want a tiny redwood bonsai forest...do you have a video for that?

Nice ! What would you think about a Baobab-bonsai ? Would it get it´s characteristic big trunk after a few years of care ?

I'm gonna have to start doing this several years ago...

Currently have a bunch of blue spruce seedlings going. About 11. Hoping to end up with a nice specimen in 15years lol

at the 26:00 mark, could you possible reinforce the tangled branches and do some sort of helix? or would that damage the branches?
