Thanks for the video, but why didn't you start it and show it running once the fuel bowl without the solenoid was in place? You skipped the most important point, the end result.
It was a long time ago, I think because it was very early in the morning in my garage while the rest of the family was sleeping. But it’s a well known thing, everyone cuts the valve to prevent problems.
Iinstal a pet cock in line b4 the fuel filter. Open to start n run close fuel line off and run till the mower runs out of the gas in the bowl. The solenoid keeps gas from gravity feeding into the carb and into the crank case. Symptoms of inop fuel solenoid is no start(stuck closed) or back fire at ignition cut off then flooding oil with gas (stuck open) but removal of solenoid stopper requires an in line pet cock to turn fuel off when not in use
Hi. I had a problem with the fuel solenoid on my Husqvana ride-on mower and was able to get it working perfectly by removing the rubber tip (the part inside the solenoid that actually seals and shuts off the fuel) of the solenoid and replacing it again without the seal. My question is... can I leave it like this forever? Is there any real need to have the fuel off when not using the mower?
@@strikemaster1 no because the float needle seats to stop the fuel when it’s at level. The solenoid is only to prevents backfires from surplus gas after the needle seats, hope you subscribed
I like your idea. Does it backfire now right after you shut it off? That solenoid is a fuel shutoff and also while at it prevents gas from being sucked in during shutdown to eliminate backfire on shutdown. Mine pops like a 12 gage almost every time lol
Ok ive seen it all who ever had my tractor glued the end of my spark plug to the tip of it that connects to the rubber it looks like they glued it i had to pri it off
I noticed the solenoid worked ok when grounded to the frame. There should have been a short green ground wire from a screw on the plastic carb baffle with the studs on it with an eyelet on the other end you install on one of the carb studs so the carb gets grounded. Otherwise its insulated from the block.
Yes, i noticed that too on other tractors i had...but as you saw. Even without the green ground wire, i showed the plunger open and close properly on and off onnthe ignition switch. Either way, after the delete, it had no issues. I soldnthe whole tractor a month ago.
@@MowersNBlowers Yeah you didn't mention that in the video and you used vice grips to stop the fuel just thought I'd let you know that switch/valve also keeps the carb from overflowing into the crankcase I would hate for someone to damage their mower and blame your video you know how people are I got a pos courage 20 on my Husquvarna didn't think I would ever see a bigger pos till I came across a powermore Chinese motor on a push mower today a 139 cc not a 135 or a 140 a 139 wtf junk
I've had a few Chinese clones...always worked well. You also know those fuel shutoff valve solenoids cause a lot of engines not starting! The valve sticks, or shorts and stays closed! I'm just telling you how to 86 the solenoid if you wanted to. Yeah I know how people are...I'm not the first to show you how to mod things on UA-cam. You'll never find a fuel solenoid on any of my tractors. Too many problems with solenoids.
Here is the secret . After replacing a battery I got an idea. Choke choke choke. There is nothing wrong with all the internal parts of this great motor. It's not fuel , spark, timing etc. Its the position of the CHOKE. I bought a identical husqvarna courage in 2011. And the 1st 100 hrs no problemo. Then I started having the issues you were troubleshooting. Well for starters I only use real gas ( no corn). And I use synthetic oil. So I decided it's not internal. Here is the trick. When you cold start this mower, lift the hood , then put your finger on the choke lever. Pull back once or twice , booooooom. The engine will fire up. I also get a back fire occasionally. But that's has to do with the stroke on that engine. My mower is going on 9 yrs old and cuts like a champ. I suppose the choke is a tad off? But I been doing this for 7 yrs. (:
Thanks for your comment, but...it wasnt the choke...it was the fuel solenoid as the video shows. Choke is perfect, closed like it couldnt close anymore. Lever tuned perfectly. Engine starts great after the solenoid delete. But thanks for your comment.

Interesting you say it's there for anti back firing, Mine still back fire s all the time, same exact machine.
Lol! That is the purpose of it!
@@MowersNBlowers We have some subaru's that do the same thing, only at shut down, fucken BANG! oh well, they run great at least.

I cut mine off altogether
@@MowersNBlowers You mean the fuel can still flow into the carby when engine off? Well I ended up buying a valve for 10 bucks to switch it off.

Good one! I must say I would have appreciated a clip of the machine running post solenoid removal.
It was midnight in my garage
Mine is same exact model except constantly let’s fuel run constantly
Fix the leak
Great fix Bro! I've seen that particular solinoid delete on UA-cam but never tried it like that. Cool!

I sold the the tractor shortly after the video, but just throttle down and it usually won’t backfire, and even if it does, who cares right?

Sir, is it the same situation with the Kohler 24hp twin cylinder motor.
Thank you
If it has a fuel solenoid
I have a problem with mine it wont stay on since l pulled the choke wire wile it was running any sughetions
You broke the choke wire? Does it stay running ever or never? When does it run? Clean your carb.
you need a fuel shut off valve behind the fuel filter or the crank case will fill up with gas and you will blow the motor
Thanks clay, yup, I put fuel shut offs on all my tractors..except the ones with fuel pumps.

Holy crap! I did the exact same thing on my Kohler command it worked!
Still don't know if it runs because you never fired it up .
Thanks for that idea. Tried everything and this worked! I just cut the tip off the non working solenoid and put it back in. Works like a charm.
Yup, you dont even need it..it just causes problems. Hope you'll subscribe
what tip?
The tip on the solenoid that pushes the float in the carb up.

I don’t see how putting the mag on upside down would make a difference. I’m sure it was the solenoid all the time.
It didn’t. It was the solenoid.
