A few years ago I had the pleasure of meeting Cortez, and getting to chat with him a bit as our daughters played basketball together at Lake Nona High School in Orlando. I was up in the stands making a video of one of the early home games of the season, looking at the view screen, and a rather large man walked up the bleachers to me, leaned over, told me his name was Cortez Kennedy, and asked if he could get a copy of the video. I looked up, shook his outstretched hand and asked "the Cortez Kennedy" and he said yes and even though I'm an old guy (past 50 at the time), I thought that was pretty freaking cool. Super nice man, loved to talk about hunting and the yearly hunting trip he would take with his friends back in Arkansas. Tez even gave me some venison one time. What a shock it was when he passed. I sure am glad I got to know him a little bit and I certainly hope that Courtney is doing well these days.
