Costco/Interstate 24F battery lasted 2 years in my 06 4Runner. Going with EverStart MAXX from Walmart. Warranty from Costco is 3 years pro-rated. Warranty from Walmart is 3 years free replacement...no brainer
My Walmart Everlast 6-year warranty battery just died after 6 years and 4 months. I bought a Walmart Everlast 4 year warranty battery, cost $199 with trade in core. Notice, Walmart now only sells a max of 4 year warranty on a battery.
@@Rr-j4xpossibly but my guess is that they were just not making much on the batteries so they decreased the warranty. Keep in mind that for standard lead acid batteries, the lifespan is around 5 years. A lot of people with regular commutes and older cars can usually beat that 5 years because the battery is regularly getting fully recharged during their commute or their older cars don’t have extensive electronics that drain the battery. With the increase in work from home, a lot of people are driving less and their cars are sitting longer. This is not good for standard lead acid battery lifespans. This combined with the more extensive electronic systems, is more taxing on lead acid batteries compared to AGM batteries which are starting to come standard on some cars. The 6 year warranty just isn’t plausible because in most cases, batteries are just legitimately dying prior to that and they’re just giving away batteries for free. Oh that and keep in mind it’s walmart, i had an employee tell me people steal the batteries all the time.
Costco USA changed the warranty in 2023. It is now three year prorated...not free replacement. Costco Canada still offers three year free replacement. In the USA WalMart is probably the go to. Good batteries and solid warranty. Four years on their AGMs
i dont understand the costco 3yrs warranty. employee said if theirs a problem or it malfunction within3yrs they would replace it with new for free but its pro rated to pay 10 to 15usd
Wow. You sure you didn't get an "old" or discharged battery from the beginning? Been making a Habit of testing my Batteries regularly and "topping off" at least once a Season. With a Digital Load Tester I get an early warning if I start seeing the CCA, SOH, SOC, and Internal Resistance change significantly from the previous test(s).
That type of battery requires topping with distilled water about once a year or sooner in hot areas. Most people don't know that and the battery fails before end of warranty. My Walmart 124R is on year 6.
I bought a Walmart Everstart Plus today for $109. The one I got was made in South Korea. The staff told me they just switched suppliers. Hopefully the battery is as good as the previous ones.
I've heard they don't last as long as the ones made by Johnson Controls. That ever start Max use the last me 9 years in my little Toyota Tercel I was going to replace it with one until I found out there from Korea
I called they said their batteries are being made by outsourced Korea company now maybe there's still some Johnson Control batteries around with EverStart Maxx but supposedly that's what they said not sure if it's 100% true
I love Costco but they're not the batteries Best spot for batteries anymore That's going to go to Walmart however if it's not about price and warranty it really truly performs I'm talking about a battery you can deep discharge time after time and it'll keep bouncing right back well that's odyssey
Had my battery for 11 months from Costco and it went bad. I’m going to try get their battery again and give it one more chance before finding another brand.
Yes Costco is the best right now and they are always fully stocked with the batteries they carry. I bought a Costco membership just for the battery as it was still a better value than anywhere else.
for me it’s a no brainer was to why you would buy a battery from a supply store that only cares about money and doesn’t really know anything about cars! Interstate is a sell out so their batteries are cheaper now and won’t hold charge! Ac delco will always have better batteries but idk about the warranty stuff
Thanks for mentioning the point about which you want to put on first. Some of us need to know that.

$244 for a flooded battery is a rip off. You can get an agm battery for that price, they last twice as long.

Interstate junk

WALMART ARE CHEAPER WITH EXTRA AMPS, PLUS THEY INSTALLED THEM.
Is Costco batteries still made by Johnson Controls?
FYI H6 model at Costco does not have built in handles. Where else did Interstate go cheap?

Costco no longer does 3 years free replacement on their batteries but I think home depot does.
Batteries plus duracell or X2

What a load of crap about the Costco warranty, they are a warranty scam.
A lead-acid battery should last a minimum of 5 years. They are all selling crap these days.
I bought the same Interstate in this video at BJ’s Wholesale Club and it only lasted about a year. Total junk made in China.
You get what you pay for.
You dont need to put on positive first it doesnt matter in new vehicles past like 60s
If you buy your battery at Costco, they install it for free
I don’t think they will at least not at the two locations I’ve been to. Sams club does install for free though.
Thanks
You’re welcome. They also have a 3 year warranty.
