Awesome comparison. That explains why so many reviewers felt a massive improvement in latency when switching to high framerate mode on the VRX with HDZero goggles. I'm really pleased with this result because it shows my Sky04x is sufficient for the AvatarVRX and there isn't much to be gained from upgrading to HDZero goggles. ❤️

Something has to be wrong about that... Either the numbers do not represent ms or something's wrong about his own VRX. I tested myself the latency with my Walksnail VRX and my Eachine EV200D (very budget goggles, so I don't think they'd have less hdmi latency than hdzero), and I'm getting about 50ms of latency, consistently. Throughout different tests, I've seen as low as 46ms and as high as 53

How are you measuring latency? Is it based on the OSD readout? Because I believe that’s just measuring from VTX to VRX, Chris is measuring Camera Lens to Goggle lens here.

      @ikerpere9225 Рік тому +1

@@GiantAntCowboy Yeah, I know. I also believe Chris, I'm not blaming him, I just think something might be wrong, possibly not his methodology. I've tested with 240fps recording on a gopro and with 480fps recording on my phone, counting frames from a led turning on in front of the camera vs in the goggles. It's usually around 20ms more than what the OSD says, in my case. I guess that would depend on the HDMI latency on each goggles

Hi Chris, great video. I'm also already a fan of AOS labs. What I find curious is that the difference between the first pixel latency of the Sky o4x at 720p60 and the HD-Zero Goggles at 720p100 is lower than the difference between 720p60 and 720p100 on the Avatar Goggles themselves. Maybe a HDMI input latency measurement for both of them would be interesting after all.
There's actually a nice Raspberry Pi project called "pi lag tester" that turns on an LED on a Raspberry Pi Zero as it changes the image on the HDMI out. I have used it to measure the (very high) input latency of my Skyzone Cobra X V2s. If you ask me, the HDMI input lag would also be interesting data for AOS labs (at least I'm curious).
I'm happy to share the link (I guess I'm not allowed to do it directly here) if you're interested, but it's also easy to google. The original article is on blogspot.

These are the types of Rosser videos I love most; Testing things we wish we could do. This one was especially nice and concise. Also, appreciate the new test results webpage. A true contributor and great mind for FPV’s future.
Have to comment about whatever that voice thing that’s going on at the end of the video. Kinda funny and weird, but it was actually a pleasant-to-the-ear voice.
Only constructive criticism would be that often times you’re reading a script and robotic which can be disengaging during your presentation. When you’re talking about AOS Labs, something you’re clearly excited about, the pace in your voice picks up and it makes the viewer excited as well. If somehow you can maintain that pace or close to it in words per minute, you sound much more relatable and engaging. Please don’t be all fake and extra about it, but I think some subtle changes can really make your videos reach to a larger audience. Sorry, not sure how actively you’re working on it or care, but from a superficial perspective, your videos have improved a lot and I want it to keep improving.

Isnt the latency problem through HDMI practically unsolvable? According to this ua-cam.com/video/jAGp0JfNof8/v-deo.html, there is 1frame delay between HDMI input and HDMI output at 60fps - so basically 17ms latency. (Should be better at 100fps, theoretically 10ms, but there is more bitrate so who knows).
So when standard latency of Walksnail system is 30 - 40ish ms, then at 60fps HDMI adds 50% of latency :(

580 grams without 2 antennas. In real life, impossible to fly with unless you are sat on a chair and you are facing up. Otherwise they slide on your face, dig into your nose and overall very uncomfy during flying. If you adjust the head strap to be tighter you get headaches after 2 packs. Battery was on a lead.
    For reference:
walksnail goggles with all antennas- 341gr
hdo goggles with analog module and two antennas- 270gr
    skyzone 04x goggles with 2 antennas- 334gr
hdzero goggles with two antennas and analog expansion - 450gr
walknsnail vrx module (4 antennas)- 95gr
sharkbyte vrx module (2 antennas)- 75gr

The walksnail avatar can pe hold in place with double sticky tape, yes you can remove it every time you are not using it but i normally fly at least two systems on a session. Taking off and on all time increases the chances of damaging something and creates waste. i guess the only feasible option would be to have light antennas and remove all the antennas that are not needed. Another option would to print an adapter that keeps the walksnail module on the top of the goggles, just to shift the weight a bit closer to the face. It s not a deal breaker, there are ways around it, most of the people didn t even noticed it.

@@QSpeedRacer i had the v2's and they are lighter, on a quick google they say 420 grams but because the distance from the top to the bottom is bigger, they stay better on your face.
