    I'm 51 and (for me) the diet has been key. Staying active (exercise) also helps but the diet as you age can be a larger factor. But with that said everyone is different. You'll figure it out. 65. When you stop eating all the junk. Junk like all those delicious baked goods your wife makes and ice cream. That makes a huge difference.
      Gave up the junk started walking. A little at a time. Two miles 3 or 4 times a week. Dropped 30 lbs in 4 months. No other exercise. Kept eating what I was eating already. Gave up the cakes,cookies,pies and ice cream.
      So good on you for taking interest in your health.

    Just remember it takes time, keep at it and it will come. Get a goal and a plan to achieve that goal. And diet goes hand in hand with the exercise. If diet is crap you will look like crap. I came back after spending two months in a hospital bed, losing over 50lbs of muscle and have to learn how to walk again. But with heart and dedication I was able to compete in my very first bodybuilding show a year-to-date after getting shot. It goes the same with someone just trying to get back into shape. Keep at it buddy.

    Good to know. I've got a 22 F250 7.3 with 4:30 gears and the 10 speed that I absolutely love. I'm ready to start modifying it and this video helped push me to do it.
    From what I've seen out of the 7.3s with a 10 speed stock should be upper 340s to lower 360s on the horsepower.

      Having the DRW likely saps some power from what others may post up with their respective dyno sheets. The transmission may be different as well. All 7.3's might have the same, but being a 350 DRW I wonder if they gave it the same internals as the 6.7 trans.

You have 2 mufflers on it so you still have some gains to be made if you get rid of the muffler and it would sound amazing. I have a single 36" Glasspack on a GM 6.2L engine and it has a deep smooth sound. I also have dual 18" Glasspacks on each pipe on a Tundra 5.7L and it is nice and loud.

All they did was change the throttle body to a Holley and put different coils on it to work with the mods that they were going to do. They got just over 500 fly wheel horsepower. Ford under rated these motors. On mine I got rid of one resonator and muffler and put on a Flowmaster. I also put on an AFE GT Momentum dry forced air intake and a Banks Pedal Monster. It woke mine up big time. The Pedal Monster does nothing for horsepower. It does make the throttle open up when you want it to and not when the EPA wants it to. It makes enough sound to make me happy without any drone noise. When towing on the hwy, you can hear it with a load.

    My buddy has a 7.3 and he had the throttle cable bracket come loose and cause some issues, may wanna look at that. There also is a sport mode he found, you would have to look that up on how to switch it but it made a big difference.

    Try gutting the muffler or the resonator and put it in place of the glass pack. If the expansion area has enough volume, the exhaust may act as if you cut it off at the cats and still be quiet. This assumes the collector and stock tubing back affects the power negatively by creating a super long collector.

    • @thedirtheadshed
      @thedirtheadshed  8 місяців тому

      Huh?

    • @williamherring5441
      @williamherring5441 8 місяців тому

      Dave: You made a super amount of power for using parts you already had and you didn’t ruin the sound. A kit probably wouldn’t do any better. Hopefully, it doesn’t drone. It is possible that there is a little more power to be had. The collector/secondary length tuning is the place to concentrate on in a purpose built exhaust; however, that wouldn’t suit your stated goals (cost, messing with cats) Perhaps cutting the exhaust after the cats and putting a turn down would be the next best thing and would make slightly more power than your setup. That would be cheap, but it would suck. What I was trying to say was a homemade expansion chamber in place of the glass pack you installed, would make the exhaust act like it was cut off at the cats without fumes, would keep your sound and would still be cheap. v/r wh

    Man, you are all over the place with this video and it’s great! I recently ditched the stock muffler on my f150 for a magnaflow and it sounds great. Not terribly loud but more rumble. I left the stock resonator on because I’ve made the mistake of removing them in the past and ended up with a horrible droning on the highway. Now after looking inside of the one on your truck, i wonder if i should lose the stock resonator and go with something less restrictive. I guess theres only one way to find out! I’m jealous of the great mountain bike trails you have too. I’m just trying to get out and hike more since we don’t have many bike trails.

    I was under the impression that perforated straight through mufflers had more turbulence and created a restriction. I use the knock off (sometime branded) flow masters with the v type chambers. Some say a good performance reverse flow moves more exhaust than a cherry bomb, but I have never had access to a Dyno to test. My butt Dyno is unreliable as I am influenced by the audio.
