    Your commentary is GOLD. Crackalacking sense of humour that makes ANYTHING interesting to listen to...yes, EVEN "boring''(?) Science. :)
    Going through this video confirmed to me that I'm a hardcore INTJ who has been wrestling with Fi for the past 3 years and has a random collection of unexpected Se moments (like noticing straightaway that someone is wearing a new shirt/sporting a new haircut/wearing make up...or going bonkers with energy at the idea of joining a fight club or trying THAT cake from the local bakery)...yeah. It's an enlightening experience to explore my attitudes through the prism of functions.
    Still, I do get very worked up about my clumsy Ti and useless Si. So, types like INTPs and ISFJs always end up in my "people to keep around and to learn from" tag list. :)

  • @burningsodium
    @burningsodium 6 років тому +91

    I don't disagree with what you said, but I think it's important to keep in mind that the "organization" goes on DURING the process of perceiving. Introverted sensing sees the whole world through a filter. (It is a filter based on past experiences, obscure rules, or whatever.) Typically the filter is most pronounced when the situation is one that the Si-user has already experienced. If it's a totally new area or a subject that can't easily be categorized, there may be less difference between the two types of sensation.

If you do it right the first time, you don't have to go back and fix what you screwed up for not giving your teacher/boss/etc just what they've asked for. Once you give them what they want, then you can run around being a fuck up for shits and giggles, and no one will bother you about it." That's my mantra; do things right, do it beautifully and make people proud so they'll leave you the fuck alone and you can go do the things you REALLY want to do.

    Lol, after watching this video I realized that as an ENTP I tend to use Si really meticulously when attempting to convince someone about something rather controversial or that seems extreme. I have my preconstructed procedure that I follow to really make my viewpoint land. I guess another prerequisite is that I have a strong personal conviction, this might even be the main determinant. I use it when I no longer see a valid reason to continue debating the issue. Whenever I've finally reached a final conclusion (which is rather rare), I condense it into a focused and effective little mental package aimed at being as convincing and effective as possible. One reason for this being mainly applied for very controversial topics is that somewhat unwilling listeners will oftentimes interrupt you if you're unable to relay the information withing a limited timeframe.

    Makes so much sense, as a lead Si user, all day every is exhausting filtering through stored information and ordering it in files in my mind. If there's gaps, I will go research and find what I need to fill in the gaps. Also, first thing I notice about objects is how they're organized, this includes people. I also get inner sensations when something just doesn't feel right. If the object or objects (including people) is about to become disorganized my muscles tense up and it feels like pins and needles. So it's my duty as an ISTJ to fix it. What was your role in your family? It's a great way to start determining your type. What do you feel responsible for? In my case, it was my lead Se brother...throw a bunch of crap against the wall to see what sticks. ☺️😆 My mom couldn't handle him so she assigned me the responsibility. She was lead Si also, but Fe parent. She gave me the parental responsibility of thinking for the tribe (Te). Problem solver extraordinaire!🙌

You've just described my father perfectly. and if I interrupt the story part of the way through by giving him the answer that would come at the end, in the middle because I know how the ending is going to go. It completely throws him off.
    and yes my stories for the most part unless I'm concentrating, I'm Se, are a shit list of fact in no particular order.

    It's weird. I feel like I can't easily perceive things as they simply are, especially in the very space and present. That, or I _can_ see things, but it's inherently meaningless for me to consciously acknowledge as the simple truth of reality.
    I find that Mindfulness (Meditation) really helps alleviate that feeling of dissociation, when I fall into a loop of thinking too much, digging myself into a pit of grey uncertainty in conclusion and followed up action.
    I wonder if this phenomenon I'm trying to explain of myself can be considered as an example of inferior, or no Se.
    But I'm also wondering what the use of saying so would even be.
    As a side note, whether or not I know my type, I find that setting myself and aiming towards objective goals, and maintaining a present and retrospective view of variety in my daily life is what keeps me from falling into my own psychological traps, which I have been falling into lately (i.e. over-analyzing to the point of head-aches, more or less).
    Typing this comment probably won't help, to be honest, lol.

    What about people being/acting differently in different situations, how do we know which is the "true" functions, eg. I'm very Si at work, I want all the steps to be written out because I don't want to mess up, I don't want to be blamed for mistakes, by following the steps, I can fall back on "this is the procedure/policy that was agreed upon".
    However, at home or during my "leisure" time, its more of "as long as the ingredients kinda make sense, it should be fine, we don't need to follow the exact recipe" type of thing. Its because logically, when you mess up at work, its a bigger issue, that's why a more "solid" approach is required, while when its just for fun, it doesn't really matter that much and its more fun to do it without following every single step. In this case, which scenario should I judge my personality upon?

    Based on this my preference seems to be more Se but definitely lower in function stack (get stressed out with excessive sensory info). Not much Si I guess. I'm guessing Ni might be my preference. When I am baking I just glance at a recipe, guess the general idea, unless there are specifics (such as measurements), but otherwise just kind of "guess" "or "know" my way though with occasional interjections to alter the recipe, such as adding cranberries or strawberries into a blueberry muffin mix if I have them around. (try it, really tastes good.) I don't even use a timer much of the time. I just kind of "know" when it is done and take it out, give it a test. Usually I get something edible out of it. With meats I use a thermometer. Very seldom do I burn something even if don't use a timer. This is even when baking. I guess my father cooks that way too, except when baking uses a timer. Just kind of skims over the recipe and then guesses what is needed based on what we have or his creative choices.
    Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. There's a family joke about our cooking style too, passed on from his family, about you either like it or hate it, but either way eat it up, because you won't have that dish again.

    • @nachannachle2706
      @nachannachle2706 6 років тому +2

      +Bug Folk I think people with Ni and Se have a very good timing for everything in general. Dom-Se know when to jump into the action to shine their brightest lights, while Dom-Ni know how much time has elapsed since events X and Y in a very intangible way.
      My personal example is that I'm NEVER late for anything...even when I leave my house "late". Similarly, I put my alarm clock on snooze with the intent of sleeping 10mins, then usually wake up BEFORE the 10mins countdown is about to hit the -30s mark. I'm Vegetarian, but when I cook meat, I figure out when the dish is ready without tasting it. It's a really strange experience though: like living out in the realm of Spacetime rather than the world of Gravity. :)

      Now that you mention it I do notice much of the time I can kind of know or guess time/ hour/ sometimes within a 5-10 min range) of day without looking at a watch. I do anyway to make sure I'm accurate with making bus schedules, but I have an idea how long it takes for me to walk to the stop. Sometimes I there will be a gut feeling is something is going to go wrong, like I'm going to miss the transfer. Sometimes that proves to be normal anxiety, but other times it really happens just as my hunch foresaw. Fe related: I sometimes seem to "know" what to say or do and cheer someone up in a bad mood.
      One instance was on the bus, I heard an emotional exchange over the phone with a mother and her daughter. Whatever it was, distressed the mother. She snapped and then grunted "Uffda" and all of a sudden I just laughed and blurted out "You said Uffda!" and she suddenly cheered up and laughed along. I had this happen today in a gift store with an older lady and her grown daughter or caretaker trying to offer her random things and her saying "No I can't use this? What am I going to do with it?" She was negative and downbeat. But I had the urge to joke with her, tease her by offering her a toy snake. At then she opened up about being a rare person who likes snakes, shared personal details about her past, and started opening up. We could have carried the conversation a bit more but I was with a college class field trip and we had to go. But it kind of spooked me how that worked out, knowing that was quite a risk. Sometimes anxiety holds me back from acting on those Fe moments, but when I do it is interesting what happens.

      +Bug Folk This is a great and enlightening account. :)
      Yes, for Fi-Tert users, I think INTJs can catwalk the Fe-realm in crisis situations really well.
      I think your idea that it might be Ni-Se related makes a lot of sense, now that I look at certain social situations in retrospect (i.e IXFJs confiding so freely in me like I'm their psychanalyst).
      Just don't shove me in the middle of an EXFJ party.

    • @bugfolk6323
      @bugfolk6323 6 років тому

      I can "walk" Fi at times, but I feel shame and a sense of being exposed later if it isn't reciprocated. Having PMS depression intensifies this effect.
      Fe is looking for external validation for whether my emotion is an appropriate reaction but then also realizing no one else is a mind reader, thus trying to figure it out by myself, but being unable to change my emotions internally. Best I can do is seek out someone to bounce that off and get feedback to check my level of emotional balance. This tends to be very effective, much better than self analysis.
      But throw me in large social gathering and, I don't believe I can sustain ExFJ party either. In my cause it may not be death by Fe. More like Death by Se? Death by Ti? I can bounce of an E's energy, but the sensory stimuli like noise and music, and a bit of feeling like there's too much info to keep up with and I need to return to my quiet place is what gets me. But if I am an ambivert maybe I'm I am xNFJ. Considering that, could that explain why both Fe and Se values can fluctuate in a person?
      If I focus, Se works like my above post. It can also be a hindrance when losing or misplacing stuff. When under stress I get to "speed reading" and thus end up with things seeming to be either out of focus or poorly rendered in my mind. (think anxiety attack, everything is glowing and swooshing just like the movies.) Just trying to determine whether Ti or if Se is my inferior. Or perhaps they swap order depending on circumstance and emotional state.

      @nachannachle2706 6 років тому +1

      +Bug Folk Hm. It does seem like you use Fe as your standard tool to interact with/navigate the world. Fi is probably your sort of alerting you that you might be going overboard with the Fe-ness, but at the same time leaving you in a difficult situation where your emotions are neither processed nor validated (I have the same issue with making Te-heavy decisions and then pondering whether I've thought the whole process through accurately).
      Talking about parties, I have an INFJ colleague and he always goes mental when people around him are unnecessarily loud for the sake of loudness = degree zero of communication. It's like a mix of Fe-Ti->Se exasperation. Funny thing is, he does that sassy thing against anyone he considers close to him. :)
      With the amount of analysis you are doing, I doubt that you are Ti-inf. Ti-Inf (ExFJs) usually make zero sense to me as they vent with some kind of badly hidden agenda while pretending to be objective in their observations.

    Is depression linked to having your primary function as a deamon?

    • @philmauk
      @philmauk 6 років тому +10

      I don't think your first function can be a demon. Your second or third can be though, and your fourth always is. Depression can be a result of many different factors, but I don't think it is the result of any personality type in and of itself. Just a thought, it could stem from having a severe imbalance in your functions or how you spend your energy/time, likely your first and fourth functions. For whatever it's worth, I'm still figuring our this myself, so take what I'm saying with a grain of salt.

    This is just an opinion, but I think you might be labelling the introverted functions wrong. Wouldn't Ni be organizing *Facts* in a *Single Pattern* and Si be organizing *Concepts* in the a *Single List/Timeline* ?

  • @lalakuma9
    @lalakuma9 4 роки тому

    But speaking of facts and ideas, I don't think they work that separately for most people. I guess I'm just trying to make sense why some people fall for conspiracy theories (or make them up) while some people don't. Being an INFP, I do care about facts, where they came from, and who gathered/said them. But I'm bad at explicitly recalling and organizing information unless I have them saved or written somewhere. Or maybe that's a Decider vs Observer thing. But I really doubt that people who don't check facts or their credibility are just Intuition users with very inferior Sensing. At least most of the INTJ, INFJ, ENFP, and ENTPs I've met do care about facts. Weirdly enough the ISTJ & ISFJ I know seem to be more vulnerable to believing in hoaxes. Is it because they're just bad at seeing the pattern behind information?

    2:30 how in the world is that Se by itself?
    As someone with lead Se and supporting Fi my first "though" is how I feel about something "I like it" / "I dislike it" / "I feel weird about it" etc.
    Instinctively comparing whatever you see to something you remember is Si.

    • @rareaqqle
      @rareaqqle 4 роки тому +5

      Se is a function that gathers new information like Ne gathering new concepts, the big idea is that they're both gathering functions. Your first function is harder to notice since it's the function you're using the most. Me having Ni as lead is hard for me to notice myself using until I start recognizing that I'm obsessively organizing physically to avoid chaotic mess around me. Sometimes I'm aware that I went over the same concepts over and over again. It'll take me at least two weeks to months until I'm ready to gather more concepts. What you're describing about Fi is the action of the animal Consume. The expression for Consume is Oe + Di meaning it takes an extroverted perceiving function plus an introverted decider. In this case based off of what you have described, you would be using Se + Fi; you're gathering new information based on what you like. This requires you to use two functions simultaneously. Remember anybody can do everything. Anybody can compare from their past experience, it's how you're doing it that makes the difference. I compare my recent art projects with my old ones and focus on how I improved over the years knowing I'll get even better in the future if I keep practicing. Saying someone can compare due to their own memory is a very broad way of tracking sensory in general. Using that to only track Si would break down very easy since everyone can compare from their past experience.

      He totally blows it there. I don't give rats ass about whether someone stuff is better or worse than my stuff. Se is not into hierarchical sorting based on "status," that is a Si thing. I may make a judgement, "that's a nice painting" but that's it.

  • @andyroobrick-a-brack9355
    @andyroobrick-a-brack9355 4 роки тому

    I honestly prefer the definitions given by Cognitive Personality Theory, who states intuition as a broadened view of whichever way a Precieving lense is focused, and sensing as a concrete, focused lense. So Si is a concentrated view of the internal world, relating to the past-oriented, detailed side of Si users, and Se as a concentrated view of the external world. How you use them depends on your judging functions, maybe an INxP has a very focused view on their Ti/Fi, a precise lense that moves between differing states. An INTP will have a detailed inner world surrounding the concepts gathered by Ne, which will be observed by Ti and Si.
