Your films are so totally relaxing, gentle and nice. A great escape from the reality of the madness in the world at the moment. It would be so nice to spend a night in your own woodland.
@Forest brothers bad advertisement method and bad way of doing it too. be more suble with your comments and more importantly try to collab with a bigger youtuber if you can.
Enjoying your broadcasts so much! I am 73 years old and did a lot of wild camping when I was young, with the Girl Guides and then the Rangers. Pretty primitive, but superb experiences in the 1960s! It’s great to follow your story now and marvel at your expertise and also the gadgets which are game changing for winter camping - especially the titanium stove. Oh to be young again - but this is the next best thing! Cathy A.
Tip for the sinuses: Stoke up the stove, close the tent door (with enough ventilation to be safe ofc), and boil a pot of water with some fresh herbs/ aromatics until you can't see the floor any more XD I once took a thermometer into my lavvu and it can get up to about 50 C at the top! Proper woodland sauna!
these silent videos of yours, being in the woods and just camping are great to watch...so much peace and calm energy from watching it, and I almost feel like Iam in the woods with you, just chillin and enjoying beatufil nature...so relaxing after a long day of school and work, thank you Mr. Mike
Well said @Robert, I feel like we all live vicariously through Mike when we watch his videos when we can't make it out into the outdoors ourselves in the middle of the work week or on a busy weekend.
I've done a few similar mods to mine. Zips front and back. So it can still be used a 2x ponchos and as a tent. Hanging loop. Zips in the arm holes. Rejigged it all so it not has the same 'wet side' when used as ponch or lavuu. Like the skirt idea. Might have to break out the sewing machine for that. Will need extra thought if keeping it able to be a poncho too.
Just wonderful I’m so happy for you. What great memories you can make with the kids when they’re a bit older. I treasure the memories my dad shared when we walked across the 100 acres that was his families farm and bush land. So much knowledge you’ll be able to give them. Congratulations
Congrats on your first night. Evening sounds in the Woodlands is always good, but it's even better when it's Your woodland. Thanks for sharing your first night with us, looking forward to more adventures.
A happy man. In this too often chaotic world of bad news, too much plastic, consumerism and over consumption, it is truly refreshing to see and share in the joy of someone literally waking up to a new dawn... I'm thinking that if you don't have a convenient tree to replace the centre pole, you could make up a tripod that would fit on the outside of your tent and use that as the centre pole -- effectively moving the pole to the outside of the tent. Great video!
I know nothing about setting up a tent, but couldn't you tie a rope between two trees and put the top loop of the rope somewhere in the middle of the rope... Instead of the pole? 💖🌞🌵😷
@@ShaDOWDoG667, aww thanks for commenting, but I'd be nervous that the branch might break and come crashing down on my tent? No? Plus don't trees shed a lot of water onto your tent? Isn't it better to be out in the open? Sending lots of love 💖 from sunny 🌞 Arizona 🌵😷.
Another lovely video! Watching you tip the ash under the leaves made me think that as trees 'talk' to each other, I bet your trees are so happy that you are managing their woodland! They will feel safe and blossom with you looking after them.
I love listening to owls, and other night sounds like crickets, peepers(frogs), and watching the lightning bugs in summertime you have a perfect spot there
I like the lavvu mod, makes it even more versatile !!!!! hearing the wildlife is one of my favorite things about camping in the woods. I don't get out as much as I'd like since I don't drive but when I do get a ride to a camp spot it's well worth the wait
Really glad people are buying small woodlands like this for camping. They are saving them from housing development or worse. I'd love my own wood. Respect brother.
The Polish poncho tent mod is genius Mike, I did this to my one just a few weeks ago, went out and brought a sewing machine and it's a game changer, so much more space. Really enjoying hot tenting now, I have a similar setup, it is just so much nicer being in a heated tent, cooking in a warm environment. As mentioned your setup could have been better:) I think Shaun did an excellent job on the mods. Sandy
Best Polish Lavvu modification in my opinion is the Lavvu centre tarp by Bushcraft Spain - It's the best $170USD you'll ever spend on your Lavvu and it more than doubles the usable space inside the tent - However, with the modifications seen in this video, the modification I've mentioned would no longer work, as it only connects two stock-standard Lavvu halves. It essentially turns your Lavvu into a baker-style tent and the tarp's buttonholes perfectly match up with any of the three Lavvu sizes.
I prefer canvas in a winter tent, especially if it’s heated. But if I’m going to carry it on my back I’m not entirely sure if id want to carry any canvas tent/shelter half system anymore. So heavy! So much wasted space in a pack. Car camping or if I have pack animals, sure, all day long. Flip side is the purpose built lightweight tipi shelters don’t really hold heat as well as the canvas. And they cost quite a bit more. But they fit into 1/4 the size or less & weigh next to nothing.
@@soonerfrac4611 You're exactly right, those silnylon hot tent tipis lose heat very rapidly, within minutes of the fire going out, the tent is freezing again, whereas you don't need to constantly feed your stove with wood in a canvas tent such as a Lavvu...
That as really made a massive difference in size hasn't it Mike. It's huge inside now pal. Lots of new mods as you say. For me the tension straps on the bottom, the hanging loop and the hook to hold a light on the inside are all fab ideas pal, loved it. Big congrats to you spending your first night in your very own forest!
Thanks Ant! Yeah the mods make it sooo much better. Really pleased with them. Looking forward to putting it up with different configurations next time!
Great as always Mike, currently been subscribed to your channel for the last year or two. I've learned so much and have been inspired to just get outside and enjoy the nature around me.
Good Nz morning Mike. Been waiting for this for a while now. Needs the "Beast from the East" again doesn't it. A bit of the white stuff. Yeah when I first saw your setup, I thought to myself that that was a heck of a sag..I would just chuck a piece of wood under the center pole and raise it. But you've already acknowledged it. Just a little idea I've used when at 75 doing car camping in winter. We call them "Thermettes" ...(fire in the middle, water jacket on the outer,)..set one up, and throw in a decent size spud, partly split with butter wrapped in tinfoil into the coals. Then go ahead prepare your hot tent, and get your stove going. By the time that's done, you'll find that the water in thermette is boiling, cuppa tea and a hot potato ready to eat as a starter and warmer. Love your channel mate. Take care and atb from down under.

I've been watching your channel for a few years, which got me back into going out and spending more time in the outdoors again, and eventually starting my own channel! Well done on this journey to owning your own woodland, a pipe dream for many of us! Keep up the good work, and the fabulous videos, I'll be out camping again soon (though not in a hot tent!), so I'll raise a can for you! Cheers James
That area is just beautiful and you are so lucky to be able to camp out alone. Even though I live in a rural area I'd be scared to death these days to in the woods alone. I will get my camping fix vicariously through bush craft channels. Congratulations on the new woodlands.
It is amazing how I stay far from your channel times to times, and when I come back, it always brings me some peace. Loving to see your new woodland, the best journey for you, mate!
Hi Mike You can use a ridge line through the d ring to support your lavoo so it can be hung between to trees 🌳 which will give a bite more shelter. Have fun in your 🪵 catch you later.
This is how I plan to set mine up once I get it back from Shaun from modifications to my size 3! To be honest with you I don't think I'll ever use a pole ever again. It'll be Ridgeline or external tripod for me from now on
It looked like the length of your wood varied. One way to keep your logs similar length is compare the ideal length to your boot. Then you'll always have your boot right there to check the length against. Sending lots of love 💖 from sunny 🌞 Arizona 🌵😷
Hi Mike! I absolutely LOVE the quiet….congrats on your woodlands that is really cool. I enjoy the rain drops pattering one back to sleep and the owl hooting. Look forward to catching on your playlists. . Cheers.
I can't imagine buying land in the south of the U.K. is cheap, I can't wait for more vids from your very own piece of woodland. Hello from Michigan U.S.!
I always used to put a tarp down first after I raked up the area then put my tent on top of the tarp it keeps the tent 20 times dryer than without it. Huge difference you should give it a try.
Wonderful to see you so happy, and blimey what a glorious woodland. Has your dad seen it yet, silly question really I cannot imagine him not seeing it. Specially when he is fishing for huge shark in his boat. I find sea fishing exciting not that I can do it. So I look forward to you and your mate building something in your lovely woodland. Love and Light 😊

( We here across the pond very much enjoy your series ) .... Once again , congratulations on the acquisition of your beautiful woodland .... Take care, stay safe .... ✌🏼 ....
I absolutely love my lavvu, and I really do plan on doing some upgrades to mine just like youve got, specially the zipper since it is a pain constantly unbuttoning the opening, specially in the wee hours of the morning when ya gotta go to the bathroom.
Nothing more relaxing than a woodland hot tent camp. Love the Lavvu modification! Also, still can believe you have your own woodland now. That’s just amazing!! Great video as always!
Hi Mike Awesome video! SO jealous you have our own woodland to manage (play in!!), but can't think of a more deserving owner! You asked us to remind you to put the recipe for your one pot meal in the description, so I thought I'd do just that. Thank you for the awesome content - say hi to your dad for me and please ask him to write an autobiography! Would definitely be the best thing put on paper this year (apart from when the newspapers said we were allowed to go fishing again)! CHEERS TA
It’s so nice to see a lifelong dream for so many of us become a reality for you in owning your own woodland Mike! And a more deserving man I cannot name! I’ve been loving the mini village series in collab with your dad and I’d agree that it would be totally awesome if he would write an autobiography - I’m sure it would be a huge hit!
I'm so glad I picked up a lavvu when they were still cheap as chips. The value was insane. I used a few cans of water proofing spray on mine and a D&D bath tub style ground sheet and am really quite happy with it as is. But those additions are cool. Looks like a quality job.
Good choice in drink there Mike! Perfect for a winters night. After watching you and your dads videos I’ve just ordered myself a hot tent stove. But mines going in my shed. Keep up the great videos 👍
Love this new series, you are so lucky to have managed to find and purchase your own woodland. I recently looked around where I live but nothing that was available was within my budget, just vast commercial woodlands.
So.... nice warm tent, beautiful woodlands (that you own), nice pot dinner and a can of Guinness with a fire and a good fantasy book (hope you've gotten into some Robert Jordan) ..... sounds like absolute perfection to me.
Usually you want the stove jack cover rolled up on top of pipe instead of hanging from the bottom. This way water runs around the pipe preventing less rain water from entering tent while using the stove...
It was such a pleasure watching this, you made me smile so many times. You sharpening your ax was so great, i am most of the time the weird one who sharpens his knife on the back of an un glazed ceramic coffee cup. i also was drinking a beer, i cheers with you in spirit! That wood stove in combination with the tent is so cool, also really inconspicuous. I was really hoping for a video, and I was way too hyped up. and i am even more hyped up now after watching, so no let down hahaha this is so cool! great to be around to watch this, it the greatest thing on youtube to me.
Well I really enjoyed that it’s been a long time since I went camping it’s worth being there just for the sunrise 🌅 great look forward to more like it thanks for letting me share with you till the next one take care
Love the mods Mike! This is making me want to get out in mine again! I'm still using the same hazel pole I cut when I first took it out and it's going strong. Much sturdier than the stock aluminium ones too. The D-ring at the top is an absolute game-changer though, especially for someone like me who's 6'2. It's incredible how much bigger the space gets, and particularly if you're using a stove it means you're not having to bend around the centre pole to load in wood/ cook, etc. Looking forward to seeing you try that! I've seen people build a makeshift tripod frame on the outside of the tent if there's no suitable trees about, although I've never tried that. Not likely to be an issue for you now though!! So happy for you to have found those woods - absolutely beautiful! They couldn't be in better hands.
Lovely to see the lavvu again. Perhaps a suggestion since it's your own woodland: take a few young birch trees and turn them into a leaf-broom so you can sweep the leaves back after camping evenly and easily.
Don't have a winter tent. Your videos have been my camping/bushcraft fix for the last 3 winters!! Congrats on the woodland. Can't wait for more videos!
I remember my dad telling me about a tent that he could wear as a raincoat, and you could put 2 of them together, to make a bigger tent. This was when he was in the Home Guard. So it was very interesting to see what this must have looked like.
been awhile since I've seen your videos, but always come back to them. thanks for keeping the bushcraft alive. my son's are at the age now that I can share my knowledge.
I am not jealous at all dude. Not one bit........ Beautiful setting, awesome camping setup and your cook ups always and I mean always make me hungry. Thanks for the content dude.

Haha oh man I knew I would forget! Going to put it in now. Sorry about that 😆
@@TAOutdoors easily done! Especially with all you’ve got going on!!! Much love! Jack from Hampshire
I am so happy for you! This is an awesome way to break in the new home territory! Its absolutely breathtaking there! Enjoy!
That chimney pipe actually made me go,
'Ahhhhh, that's genius!'
Love the work that your mate did to the tent. Looks so cozy inside! You'll have to get pops out to do a duo in the tent with you.
So happy for you Mike; you can feel your energy coming through the video, like waking up that first morning in a new house. Merry Christmas brother.
I know you're so happy you're own place and the upgrade to the tent are nice . Good job
Look like a great time I know you will enjoy your woodland and hopefully have many more sunrises to come!
Great video Mike. Great to see you spending and enjoying time in your own woodland. Looking forward to more episodes.
Thanks to you, Mike.
Nice video, very good modification on the Lavvu as well!
Love this new series, you are so lucky to have managed to find and purchase your own woodland. I recently looked around where I live but nothing that was available was within my budget, just vast commercial woodlands.
whenever i see reposts of your stuff on tiktok, i comment who you are and to follow your channel - you are inspiring.
Another superb video, love watching your overnighters in the woods, love seeing how you camp and stuff
Wow! Congratulations on your woodland! I'm sure you'll enjoy it with your family. Making memories together is a treasure! Have fun!
So.... nice warm tent, beautiful woodlands (that you own), nice pot dinner and a can of Guinness with a fire and a good fantasy book (hope you've gotten into some Robert Jordan) ..... sounds like absolute perfection to me.
Usually you want the stove jack cover rolled up on top of pipe instead of hanging from the bottom. This way water runs around the pipe preventing less rain water from entering tent while using the stove...
I thought the exact same thing when I saw that
Very happy for you Mike. Congratulations!
Very nice job on that. Very relaxing to watch you make a cozy warm camp and bed down warm for the night with plenty of firewood.
I’m loving this series, I’m really intrigued with what you’re going to do with the woodland in the months and years to come. Thanks for the videos.
Thanks! I’m looking forward to it too.
Fantastic, your own wood land, well done. Looking forward to many more adventures.
Well done. Start to finish. Leaving no trace is impressive.
You're getting there with your ideas and such now fella, I don't comment much but do watch and enjoy them.. Be good to see the hot tent in the snow
Must be one of the best nights outdoors of your life. Congratulations on your purchase.👍👍
Thank you for sharing the outdoor UK experience.. I very much enjoy all of your videos..
been awhile since I've seen your videos, but always come back to them. thanks for keeping the bushcraft alive. my son's are at the age now that I can share my knowledge.
Brilliant. You lucky, lucky bloke. Can’t wait to see the next video. 🏕 🇬🇧
I am not jealous at all dude. Not one bit........ Beautiful setting, awesome camping setup and your cook ups always and I mean always make me hungry. Thanks for the content dude.
What a great sentence "camping in my woods" awesome. Nice job and congrats
Man I really like your videos. They're one of the things that got me through lockdown in 2020. Keep up the great work.
Glad they helped!
