Front man Mark Slaughter ended up forming the band Slaughter that had some hits into the early 90’s. The band formed and they were from Las Vegas:) Also love that song that Vinnie Vincent Invasion did for the film Nightmare on Elm Street 4 called Love Kills from 1988:)

Vinnie is known for a few things:
    1. Being in KISS for a couple years but writing some great music with them
    2. Being a great guitarist but one whose ego gets in the way of his talent
    3. Being quite effeminate looking. Always thought he looked like Roxy Petrucci.
This song though? An absolute masterpiece of the hair metal era.

Mark Slaughter hit a superpower octave at the end to match with Vinnie’s guitar, simply outstanding !

Vinnie was his own worst enemy, the guys ego would shoot himself in the foot with a nuclear missile

as a song writer and player guy was awesome .we as fans do not know how his ego was.we only heard one side of a story not both .and we cannot go by one side of a story

an awesome band.mark slaughter owes ALOT to vinnie vincent .if not for him the band slaughter wouldnt have ever existed.and kiss owes him alot as well.his songwriting and playing helped put them on top again after 3 very bad albums

The point at the end right there. People wonder why excellent material like this didnt get bigger than it did, or why its not a regular spin on classic rock radio. Bc there was a lot of excellent material out there and more or less only one way to get the music out there for people to consume. Completely different than nowayfays.

The vocalist is Mark Slaughter. Dana Strum is also playing here, too. Vinnie was responsible for discovering them and giving them their first break here.

Dana Strum discovered Vinnie Vincent and Mark Slaughter... And George Lynch, and Jake E. Lee, and several others. Along with his abilities as a musician and producer, he was a talent agent.

FINALLY a reactor gets on to this absolute tour-de-force of hair/glam metal. As you already know, Vinnie was lead guitar for KISS on CREATURES OF THE NIGHT and LICK IT UP. Mark Slaughter on vocals would later form his own band along with the bass player from invasion.
I LOVE this album. Wish these guys got along better than they did, would have liked to get AT LEAST one more album out of this line-up. Apparently Vinnie was a real SOB to work with in general and had beef with Mark (Slaughter) from the start. Something about him not being an exact copy of the singer he replaced. (Meanwhile, he has one of the greatest vocalists of the genre fronting the band and treated him like crap) Sad stuff. Waste of a great opportunity. Oh well, a couple years later we got SLAUGHTER.
Do yourself a favour, check out "Love Kills" from the same album. Made for the movie NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 4 ... which will explain what you see in the video (which is super cool). Even BETTER song in my opinion.
Brother, you've got the look to be in a band like this for sure ;)

As guitarists go, there is absolutely no doubt Vinnie Vincent is extremely talented. It's only his mindset that hinders him. KISS members have shouted his accolades as a guitarist and songwriter. There's a concert in Canada during the Kick It Up tour where after his virtuoso guitar solo, he never really stops even playing Over the Stage Rap of frontman Paul Stanley until Gene Simmons puts his arm around his head in a standing headlock with Gene pointing at his face and tapping his forehead. Vinnie was out of the band shortly after that.

Always loved your reactions, great pick for a VVI song, but I think "Love Kills" sounded better, the video sadly cuts the solo and part of the song off. The first album also has great songs like "No Substitute", the first album really showcases what VVI was, agressive, raw, fast solos and a great vocal performances by Rob Fleischmann (Original Journey singer)

This is basically a Slaughter song. Great track. Should have been huge. Mark's vocal is otherworldly

Could not agree more (other than it being basically a Slaughter song 😉). The level of talent on display everywhere in this song is ridiculous.

I'm sure that Tim Kelly would have done a decent enough job on this song, had Mark and Dana written it. Tim was a hell of a guitarist, and wasn't a goddamn showoff with an ego problem.

He was an incredible singer but unfortunately a lot of the songs themselves were pretty cringe. Boys are gonna rock? come on. Songwriting here has gone up by orders of magnitude.

@@RobertSmith-js2kz The first album it's more of a "that's my band, and I'm going to play the most crazy shit you ever heard in hard rock". Yeah, I agree with you, the songwriting on ASG it's miles high better, but I a fan of the first album, specially the vocals, for me Slaughter sounds annoying and forced. It's a shame that Goran Edman didn't join.

@@themechanix8804 I hear ya. Over-all I'm still depressed that the system euthanized this genre for whiny grunge crybaby junk. They could have co-existed quite nicely. I was shocked to see a reaction to this song to be honest. Thought it might never happen! You know SLAUGHTER can't be too far down this dude's list now ;)

    • @themechanix8804

@@RobertSmith-js2kz That makes sense, but the problem was that most of the hard rock/glam bands tried to follow the grunge stuff...

@@themechanix8804Because they really had no choice. The death this kind of music was by design. New management at MTV REFUSED to give this kind of music any air-time right around 1991. It was a mission statement. That was pretty much the only place to hear/see it. For the most part they never got any radio play either. You got top 40 and oldies on the AM & FM dial back then, not much more. MTV was it. They purposefully euthanized the genre.
There were a lot of cool new bands coming out around then too. And the music was taking a turn back to the blues-rock influence. Groups like Badlands etc. We got ripped off big-time.
It was an adapt or die situation ... and most of them died. Or could barely make a living.

Vinnie is talented as well as Dana, Mark & Bobby but this album producing suck, bass and drums sound is low while guitars and vocals are high.
