Propably the most real reaction video I've ever seen. The vulnerability, the stunned silence for as long as you needed. Thank you for showing the heartbreak of my teenage years the appreciation it deserves. Absolutely had to subscribe for this!
It means alot you even taking time to be here with me. My goal with the channel is simply just exploring music, all the while trying to be vulnerable and build a safe place for us to connect.
The vocalist Marko Saaresto is not only singer/songwriter but graphical designer planning all their visual material. The making of the "Carneval Of Rust" video was so called 'taluk work' on very low budjet with the help from all band members and couple of trusted graphical designer friends. I absolutely love Marko's silky smooth voice.

Thank you so much for this heartfelt reaction. The Poets are my favourite band and have been for over a decade. You can just feel Marko's voice in your heart. They have a song for every mood I could possibly be in, and they always make me feel better. I think "Angel" from their Alexander Theatre Sessions would absolutely wreck you if you haven't heard it yet (I'll check your other reactions to them next, I can see one in the suggestion bar already).
His voice is awesome! They have many great songs but my fav must be Daze live at Genelec. Sooo gooooood!

Poets of the Fall is my favorite non metal band. Hands down. Also, they are another band in an alternate universe called The Old Gods of Asgard. An 80s power metal trio in the Remedy game universe. Great shit! Everything by Poets of the Fall is amazing. Some of the most beautiful lyrics you'll ever hear conveyed by the most beautiful voice.

One of my all time favorite bands! I still have their Signs of Life album that I bought when it was first released back in 2005. My sister and I had just moved out on our own and we listened to the CD non stop for probably a year. Nowadays I will come back to this band from time to time, when I have an emotional need only they can fill. My favorite song of theirs is and always will be 3AM. It's not one of their strongest song lyrically or musically, but it is beautiful and meaningful and true. Even if you don't make anymore PotF reactions, make sure to check out the band on your own time.

They appear in this order: The Star, Nine of Swords, The High Priestess, Eight of Cups, Nine of Wands, Ace of Wands, The Magician, The Star, Strength, Ace of Cups, Nine of Swords, The Star.
It's also important to see the correlation between the card shown and events in the video. For example, the Eight of Cups appears when she throws the ball at the plates - signifying walking away from (presumably negative, in this case) people in your life. Literally, she's breaking away, breaking the bonds that held her back.
Yeah this one cuts deep, especially that last part when you didn't really expect it.

Thank you for reacting to Poets of the Fall, one of my favourite bands. Their lyrics are always so multilayered and so much room for interpretation. Sometimes catchy but never simple. And of course Marko's voice is amazing. They're also great live, I saw them 8 months ago on their 20th anniversary tour and it was well worth travelling 500km there and another 500km back in one day.

They were massive here in Finland in the early 2000's when you had MTV Europe when they used to play music videos, you had Poets Rasmus, Kwan really great bands and great music.

Great song that hits deep. Yeah when you're a kid it’s so easy to think everyone will find a gf/bf and fall in love and live happily ever after and yada yada, then reality hits and smash those rose-coloured glasses to a million pieces. But that’s life i guess.

Incredible song that has stood the test of time & is increasingly relevant today. The Carnival is the toxic parts of the world, hence the face mask, the coins she has to spend - the limited amount of time we have here, so spend them wisely. Try to ignore the temptations of greed & material things, watch out for two faced insincere people, take care of one another. Love is everything. Every scene of this video has deep meaning & Marko is a genius creative & lyricist, a beautiful soul.

Small almost unnoticeable thing in the music video says it all... When the song ends the machine spills out a piece of paper with the words ''Cor Cordis'' It's latin and means ''Heart to Heart''. I think that summarizes this reaction video and the song so perfectly.
Close, it means "heart of hearts", to be "at the heart of it". She is everything to him... despite the untold issues in the background. "Heart to heart" is "cor ad cor". "Cor ad cor loquitur." = The heart speaks to the heart.

All of the sources I've used says "heart of hearts", I check before I replied to you, and that was also the translation I found when I first really analyzed this video about 10 years ago. (No, I don't make a habit of analyzing music videos, but this one had so much going on I couldn't resist.)
Checking your translation, I do see translations that say "heart to heart", but only when you are translating "cor, cordis" (meaning cor and/or cordis), not "cor cordis" as a single phrase. All translations I've found of "cor cordis", including the ever-popular Google (always accurate, right?) translates it differently, as "heart of hearts".
Cor means "heart" and cordis is possessive, meaning "of the heart" or "belonging to the heart".
An accurate translation of "heart to heart", though, is cor ad cor, with "ad" meaning "to". A popular motto is "Ad Astra", To (the) Stars.

That "Don't walk away, oh, when the heart is yearning" part hit me deep in the feels also, because I had not so great ending to my relationship last year. It all ended so quickly and I fell into my knees and I was begging for her not to go.. so yeah. But I'm all better now, mentally and all.

This is a great song and a great band. I don't know how many times I've seen it and it still hits me in the feels everytime. So, please! Keep being open. There are some good, thought-provoking anaylsis videos of this song. My favorite describes this song as the journey of the conscious mind (the girl) through life with the subconsicious mind (the man in the box) trying to serve as a guide and help us develop. It examines a lot of the symbolism in the song, from the fires and the salamander to the doll, the cracks in the glass in the box (indicating that the subconscious mind keeps trying to get our attention and help us), to the meanings of the tarot cards beside the box, which flip through and change several times throughout the song.
this was my sadness song in my teenage years when my first girlfriend left me. the circus perfectly reflects what I felt. I was a circus, the circus she left and I missed him as a thirsty young man 😅
I liked it. They remind me of a band called Stabbing Westward. Good vocals and the music was laid back, but that's what made it all really well. A vibe for sure.

Ya, the song was beautiful...but it reminded me of that hopeless feeling of not being wanted by the person I wanted to spend my life with. As I get older, the harder I look for joy. Because you can get lost in the pain the pain that you face.

Here's an overly detailed analysis of this music video because I have little else to do with my time.
The circus itself is very sinister and seems almost predatory with the imagery and how the performers are presented, and the fortune teller is not any better.
His song isn't a ballad of sincerely loving and wanting to be with a woman he cares about or an innocent wish to he loved and healed, it is him demanding that this woman has to love him because he's decided she is his savior who will pull him from his miserable and decrepit position.
It's even shown in the Tarot reading he does, the Star portraying her as a savior or beacon of hope and healing and the Nine of Swords representing his misery and despair he insists she is meant to save him from.
"I need you. Without you I have nothing, so I am demanding that you love me so that I can be be fixed and escape this place."
The opening lyrics make this pretty clear, since once the prose is deciphered it's basically him saying "You definitely share my obsessive and greedy idea of love and don't fault me for pushing this desperate fixation on you, don't you?"
The creepy carnival barker at the game the woman is drawn to who is clearly just eager to get money from her is played by the singer as well, seemingly symbolizing how self-interested and dysfunctional his idea of love and desire to have somebody take him away from his problems actually is.
The woman being in a gas mask to me also has some symbolism, showing the circus as a literally toxic environment and hinting at how the fortune teller doesn't even see her face as an individual beyond the love and obsession he is projecting onto her even as she backs up in seeming fright once the chorus kicks in with his direct demand and her attention gets drawn elsewhere while he gets more desperate as his perceived only chance to escape his misery leaves him to rust.
