I got married for the reasons you said- dumbest idea ever. We were great on paper but I didn’t love him I even told him so. I said love will come because we have everything else. I thought I was so smart. Now we’re divorced and now I know on no other foundation can anything be built - Only love remains. (True love not the Hollywood portrayal of it 😂) we apologized to each other for perverting our friendship using each other only to create some kind of idealized life. The problem is not love, but the kind of love people have. Most people love for the wrong reasons. I would bring a different perspective. This knowing yourself is not necessarily ideal. Your proclivities will be designed by what you listen to the most and past traumas. Spend time with God always. He will guide you to the best you you could ever be and will give clarity.
I agree you need to know God. You also need to know kw yourself and others. They are all different ball games. Many Christians have been taught to know God alone. They are taught God will lead them I. Marriage. Yes, God will guide. But He will guide based on what knowledge, people, and places you exposed your self to. Beware.

The first relationship you will ever form is with yourself and it is based on love. God's word tells us to love our neighbours as ourselves. If loving God and loving people represent one of the greatest commandments of Christ, then any relationship that is not based on love has no meaning.
@@kuunami "What they do" could mean their job/status in life. Also, actions don't necessarily mean the true intention. Don't you know that people will play the role to impress you but that's not their true self? It really takes commitment to the relationship...whatever comes with it.

I'm in a inexplicable but simmilar situation, dont know what to do, hes also like a brother to me , but Im also in a long relationship not equally, yoked, in celibacy. I would bring a different perspective. This knowing yourself is not necessarily ideal. Your proclivities will be designed by what you listen to the most and past traumas. Spend time with God always. He will guide you to the best you you could ever be and will give clarity.

Unfortunately, self-help books are not in the traditional academic curriculum. Students graduate with career knowledge but ignorant in human relations. The result is that the implementation of career knowledge becomes hell: my boss doesn't like me, my supervisor hates me, the lecturer is wicked...... Etc

I wish I heard this message before I got married the first time. I went through hell all in the name of Love. Actually the "Husband, love your wife" instruction makes people think love is an act, effort or work to be done....meanwhile if you search the scriptures deeply you will see that "when that which is perfect comes, you will do away with imperfect things."

You don't just marry someone because of love. That is what the message is saying. Feelings are there but feelings change. You've obviously not been married or been in a long term relationship. Love isn't the Only thing to sustain a marriage if you don't know how to communicate, be selfless, know God's love and how to give love. Love is the fluff or the icing but loyalty, understanding, sacrifice etc are the foundation of a lasting marriage. Real love doesn't give up. You have to love You first but most of all learn how to receive God's love and understand who God is inorder to give it. Been there done that. Look at the divorce rate, and how many people marry for their version of "love". This man knows what he's talking about. Been there, done that. I'd rather be single. God's love is a thousand times better than any man/ woman in this world.
