Nov., 20, 2023, Good video. Real backyard mechanic stuff. (my kind) I have '87 Suburban. 6'' factory lift, rebuilt 350. Carved out TBI for air flow. Goes Ok (pay for fuel) I just might try this. Thanks four years later...
Thanks for posting this, I just installed one in my '87 Chevy K5 Blazer, what a huge difference it's made. Glad I watched your video first to see you didn't disconnect anything from the TBI unit, just lifted it enough to get the spacer and gaskets in.
Good job with this project. I am going to do the same thing, to my 94 Sierra. I still can't believe you didn't disconnect the stuff, you didn't disconnect. It was pretty awesome to see it. Good work here!
I am quite a bit older, and you're young and learning, and thats a great thing bud, just 1 small piece of advice, doing something "easiest way" because its quicker isnt always the best.. watching you do it the hard way(not the "easiest") makes me thank my dad for teaching me the proper technique.. just disconnect the very few wires, vacuum hoses necessary to clean the old gasket residue off,use some Brakleen and prep the Plained surface of the intake riser nicely to ensure a good seal, then drop the TBI back down straight and square on the surface.. this will 100% save you alot of headache So.. Thank you for the video.. it was quite fun watching you cram into the engine bay like that given your size and all😆.. gives me hope that I can package and mail more, bigger things in smaller boxes and save on postage.. just joking 🤣✌️ I gave ya a 👍 for the "E" in effort,oh and "easiest"
I had put a tbi spacer on for my S10 blazer 15 years ago, paired with K&N and boy she gets rowdy. Them little 4.3's were little sleepers just not enough performance upgrades unless you ported and polished ur own stuff. My 91 silverado however will appreciate the wake up call. This 5.7 is sluggish.
Flipping the air breather back in the day on our old chevys with the quadrajet carbs when the big secondaries opened baawww " putting the cowboy hat on her" our dads would give us shit for that lol
I know this was a year ago and you probably figured something out but for the air filter the bottom peace of it flip over like you had it but before you put it on hammer the sides of where the TBI connects to the filter. It will sit a bit lower but low enough to get just a little bit of the threads to stick out and you can thread on the nut
I have the same truck basically. I put a B&M shift kit in the trans. Took about 2 hrs but man it shifts so much quicker. I'd recommend it for you. Got it on Jegs for like $40.
It makes the transmission shift gears quicker with less lag/slip and heat. Mine will chirp the tires shifting into 2nd gear if I'm on the throttle half or more.
Hi I'm tossing up between a shift kit and getting my 4L60E shift pattern changed as mace engineering do remap for my type of ECU. Any upgrades which I've done and plan to do etc. I have a trans cooler but my older brother says it runs too cold ? It's a Buick based bottom end with General motors holden top end. Quick but I'm 47 and I've been working on cars since age of16. I am tempted to get a tow and go shift kit ) stage 1) or stage 2 would be awesome but I'm not sure? Any reply appreciated cheers from Australia 🙂👍👍👍👍
@@dragan3290 I did the stage 2 B&M kit, wish I used the stage 1 parts for the 1-2 shift accumulator spring because the 1-2 shift was so hard even at part throttle it would jar your teeth. It would jump the shifter up into neutral because it shifted so violently at 3/4-full throttle. I ended up breaking the transmission 7 years later so I just had it rebuilt ($2900) and there was major internal damage. I had the shop put the Transgo shift kit in it as I hear it's better and more complete than the B&M one I had before. It doesn't shift near as hard anymore, actually feels stock I'm kind of sad. They said they tried to add the Corvette servo but it shifted too hard, but I wish they would have let me test it first instead of making that decision for me. I can't feel the shifts now and before with the B&M kit I could feel firm positive shifting. I also added a 2400 RPM stall converter so it can launch into the peak torque range. My other truck 2000 Z71 has the 4L60E and I used HP tuners to have it tuned by Klug Performance who does the tuning for Michigan Motorsports. We adjusted the line pressure and shift points and it shifts better than my 700R4 with the Transgo kit. I haven't had to even open the transmission on this truck. Just got a 3000 Stall for it so I can get this heavy truck to slingshot off the line in 4wd High range. Can't wait. Also has long tube headers, cold air intake, 4.10 gears and the custom tuning. I'm 39 now and I can't leave anything stock.
Justnput one on and im having trouble with high idle. Checked all my vacuum lines and checked the throttle linkage and everything is tip top. Not sure whats up with it.
How do you like the throttle body spacer? Notice any difference? They also have a TBI Riser plate that raises the injectors a bit to give the engine more air. It’s supposed to work great with a CAI & throttle body spacer…
i saw you shooting the bow, decided to watch, the tbi meters fuel in the cone perfectly, after its distributed in the air is the trick,on your engine short stroke, longer, try another one on top of that one,its telling you atomization is better, fuel mix and spark are the trick, exiting the exhaust ports helps(headers)when doing headers spend the money for the stainless and seal with soft aluminum[percy's] you really can have what you want in power and reliability gotta listen to others who spent the money and then buy the good stuff, enjoy
You just need the spectre bolt over kit for the air cleaner but anyway I picked a swirl port spacer up for like 25 bucks the gaskets that came with it look cheap its the same brand as yours did the gaskets seem to work fine? Thanks in advance
@@ddelph23outdoors yeah I might order separate gaskets they just don't look very good and are flaking pieces of the gaskets off the edges lol damn oh well worth not getting a vacuum leak thanks
It's worth the $50 if your engine can use it, but a stock engine has absolutely no use for it. If you run a performance intake manifold and a REALLY radical cam or a mild cam with some HUGE valves, then yes, a TBI spacer will be worth that $50 and it will make a noticeable difference, particularly under high RPM. So yeah, if you've put another $2,800 into top end work, that spacer can be practical...But again, on a stock engine? Absolutely no reason you need one.
@@wildestcowboy2668 banning guns isn't relevant in this conversation, nor are your presidential candidates. What was your other guys name again (forgive me, I'm not Murican, so I don't remember his name)? Your last president, the one who was a reality TV guy from NY. Whatever his name is, I seem to recall him banning bumpstocks as well as other firearm accessories in the U.S.A.'s biggest gun ban in history, February 28, then proposing your country's biggest gun restrictions in history, advocating for an "assault weapon ban" February 28, 2018, then calling for Red Flag Laws to be enacted in every state in March 12, 2018, then signing your country's biggest gun control law in history in March 2018, and a concession of additional restrictions and bans since then. Truthfully I am not sure. It depends on what year the motor is and what intake system that it has. Regardless you should be able to find one that would work. I would just enter the vehicle information on jegs or another website.
They're $30-50 online..any parts store will have it to, but most likely not in stock, so you'll be waiting for it whether you order online or at a parts store. No benefit to a spacer on an otherwise stock engine though (or they'd have included them from the factory). If you have a setup that's moving and using way more CFMs then a spacer will be beneficial at high RPMs. Upgrade your intake manifold, cam, and valves first, and then you'll have use for a spacer other than just to look cool, like the kid in the video.
Unplug the electornic timing wire and set your timing between 2 or 4 (Tinker with it), and barely crimp the small fuel line with some voice grips, you'll notice a huge difference
Poor truck...loving the hot air lid flip and the dirt injection port on the rear of the breather....lmao And reset your TV cable tension. That's one reason why it doesn't sit at lights......thats one of those cables on the side of the throttle body that got tighter. You're gonna f@ck the trans up

ddelph23 outdoors Ok, thank you, I appreciate your response. I broke the heads on both of hem then found a smaller one and bolted it to the inner threaded hole. It worked fined but idle is a bit higher and I had to adjust the throttle cable as well. It was stuck at an angle.
