Thank you for this precious Candlemas music! I especially love the singing in tonic sol-fa because that’s my deeply internalised compass to the grammar of music (I’ve been taught solfeggio with the Kodály method). Delightful performance! Blessings...
I'm so glad you found it helpful and edifying. You are right on with the "internalized companss." I've solfeged most of the main feasts in the liturgical year so that those new to my parish schola can practice on their own. You can find those recordings easily searchable at www.nicholaslemme.com/solfeged-propers Kind regards, nl
B-flat (polish b) is "te", and b-natural (polish h) is "ti". :) D is the only "re"; I suppose his computer program makes them sound a lot alike. +Beata Virginis Mariæ Honórem +
Good questions. As for the b-flat I'm pronouncing "te" a flat "ti" but my "t" is so light I could see how it could be heard as "re" in the recording. So, yes the "b-flat" is te. As for the b natural (ti), these are sung as "te" when a flat occurs in front of the "ti" note. Three things will cancel a flat (te): 1. A new word, 2. any kind of bar line, 3. a natural sign. If any of these occur then the "te" is cancelled and sung as ti, if not the "te" remains. I hope that makes sense. If you're interested you can find most of the main feasts of the liturgical year sung and easily searchable at www.nicholaslemme.com/solfeged-propers Pax Christi,, nl
