This is f**king brilliant. Kenny and the guys at Cockos are geniuses! Time after time they come up with intuitive ways of solving problems natively in Reaper without having to resort to expensive 3rd party plugins. Best DAW on the market, Keep it up!
Hi Kenny! Very helpful tutorial, Thanks! I just have some problems on fast snare rolls, even setting the threshold at -60dB. It looks like Reaper can't split all the transients... Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
why am I so surprised each time I believe Cubase was better in some aspects than REAPER!?!? Did you guys see how easy and workflow efficient it is?? Man I'm so glad I dont ever have to deal with MIDI triggers!! Thanks Kenny a hundred times!!
PS: Can you visually layer more than one sound on the Sample Track? I've seen people using reaper tracks with stacked audio items playing at same time. Would it be possible to layer lets say 2 kick sounds and be played at same time from the same track with the same FX for example?
Pro tip: instead of duplicating the kick, try rendering it. That way, any compressors and gates you have on the live drums will affect the transients, making it much easier to catch them.

Please I have a live cajon drum... and I wanna record in reaper from the cajon... but I want to change the sound to a kickdrum in reaper while recording.. which fx can I use to do that in the "input fx" of the cajon track in reaper while it's armed for recording...??
Can I use the ‘Performance Information’ recorded in the original audio (the timing & velocity, etc) to engage a VSTi so that it’s not just the Same Old Kick Sample for EVERY beat?
Silly question here, where did you get that drum records (i mean each track)? When I do a MT Power Drum template and split in tracks... I cant get records for each output. There is a way? That will very helpful for change sound of each sample and replace for another and so on i guess
Hey Kenny! I'm a total newbie to computer recording and Reaper. My question is this..can I record my Roland td6 drums (module>midi cable >interface>usb cable>computer) into Reaper and have each drum in a separate track (kick drum-track 1, Snare-track 2 etc.) or will the drums I record automatically just record on one single track? I'm hoping to have separate tracks to do some drum replacement after I record my drum parts...hope I'm making sense : ) Thank you...Keith
You can do it a few different ways. You can record it all on one track first and split them by MIDI notes later or you could record many tracks at the same time to different tracks but Filter the input of each track to only record specific MIDI notes.
I cant find "use as media source for selected items" at time stamp 4:20. I ACCIDENTALLY opened this menu SOMEHOW and cant find out how to replicate it. Someone help me!
Help!! When I replace a snare hits, it puts in twice as many hits as it should! What are am I doing wrong? This worked once but now it doubles everything.
try reducing splits. If it doesnt work well, maybe your recording may not have clear transients to begin with, so reaper will split in places you woudnt want
Or maybe the band you are recording has a shitty drummer with a shitty drumset and they are paying you so this is 100x easier to do instead of telling them to invest in better drums and drum lessons. You are a dumbass.
@@officialWWM Sample replacment isnt kicking the drummer off the record. Even pro bands do this. Even pro drummers have their performance quantized when necessary. You are fuckin stupid tbh.

you just transformed my workflow and saved me a few hours on drum editing . Thanks a million!
Love your videos 😍
Thank you so much. I had Drumagog on my old computer and I don't have it anymore. This helps a lot!
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. This is an extremely helpful and well instructed tutorial. keep up the good work.
Instablaster.
Awesome! Thanks Kenny!
Reaper is amazing! ... Thank you Man!
Thank you!!!! REAPER is so user friendly and simple in its approach :o Loving it more and more every day.
You need be given an award the way they do grammys oscars etc and be given money....You are a wonder Kenny Gioia
Really interesting approach! Reminds one of those multi microphone approaches for single instruments when mixed later on during a mixing stage.
This is such a helpful video. Not only did I learn drum replacement, but I learned a bunch of other tricks too!
you just saved me years of tedious unmusical editing! I owe you a beer or 2!!!! Hope this finds you well ha
Thanks a million man...
Was mixing a band with really bad kick, now sorted 😊
Just AWESOME! Thank you.

@@DRocksRecords Really? wow is that possible?
Always excellent content and very helpful! Thank you sir

The random pitch thing on the snare fill... brilliant!
For any windows user wondering, dynamic split is on the 'edit' menu, not on 'view' as in macos
adding on: it also can be accessed by pressing "D", took me a while to find🙃
lol THANK YOU. Was just here looking for a comment like this
This is going to help soooooooooo much. Thank you!
Cheers from Portugal man. Very Nice explination and reaper rules hugs
Great job, man! Thank you very much!

¡porqué rayos eres tan bueno en esto! :D
Great video, thanks! :)
Hi Kenny, thank for the video. Just a quick question. Where did you find the sample ?
Thanks a lot!!!!!
When I try this reaper puts a sample on every beat

THANKS KENNY, YOURE OUR GOD.

Brilliant! But what about replacing audio with multiple samples... like having 3 samples of the same snare selected randomly ??
I have this question too - I don't want to use ReaSamplOmastic 5000 and I'm not using midi - I want to replace the wav files with multiple/random ones
Thanks

Holy shit this is gold. I was about to go in 1 by 1!!
Where'd you get those samples from?

Same here
When I deselect loop the media item disappears??? Why???
hi, having same issues, have you got any info, thanks
Unfortunately not working not sure what I am doing wrong but definitely not working
poop
Or, you could just record the drums properly 🤔
Or maybe the band you are recording has a shitty drummer with a shitty drumset and they are paying you so this is 100x easier to do instead of telling them to invest in better drums and drum lessons. You are a dumbass.
Do you believe that everyone who mixes was in charge of the recording phase?
stratmatt22 yeah right, so your just going to kick the drummer off the recording!? That's not your decision to make, your the dumbarse!
Kyle Mills if someone has given you tracks to mix, the drums will already be created, so you won't be doing this process anyway!
