Thanks so much for that. This inspired me to build a "custom ReaGate E-Drum kit". Can't play drums at home and can't afford an e-drum kit, so I placed 2 mics (1 to the floor next to my right foot, one on top of my desk). Mic 2 got a frequency split, so now I can record drums stomping on the floor as kick, the desk's top (with hands) as snare (resonant at 100-200 Hz) and a pen on my coffee cup (big resonance at 6kHz) as hihat. Great for building beats. Having more than 2 inputs you could do so much more...
Doesn't work when I'm adding a second sample track (after I successfully made a kick sample track). Any idea of what am I doing wrong? I'm looking at it and I can't comprehend
when you're working with more then one sample, you'll have to be specific with which midi channel you use for each sample. So just go through the same steps, but for each sample everytime you go to set the midi channel, set it to a specific one. for example you use midi channel 1 for kick, then midi channel 2 for snare.
Someone has an idea how to do this, it happened to me that once I succeeded, and I saw in a video, for example to make a copy of the track of a kick that sounds bad, and in the other replace it with the ReaSamOmatic5000, but the question is that he managed to make the blows dynamic as is the original. I forgot how to do it and I can't find the video I saw that time that explained it: c

@@djabthrash Sure! I used to produce RAP tracks with my Akai MPC60 and this equipment has a feature that I never found in other sampler but, it may be there with another approaching, different name, or something... You can assign the velocity directly to the sample sound start point. As harder you hit the trigger (pad, keyboard key), sooner the start point plays that sound. It simulates a real drum sound. Hitting hard, you get more transients. Hitting softer, the sound starts off the transients, more, let's say, "inside" that sound. You miss the transient when hitting softer. So it sounds softer, too.
on order for this is work is it mandatory to have ez drummer or addictive drum etc... I want to take my acoustic drum recorded drum track and enhance parts of the drum with samples. I don't have ez drummer or addictive drums. can the same replacement be done without. I d followed these steps but new snare will.not trigger with played track? Please any help. thanks
If you are REPLACING and not BLENDING, then use multivelocity samples that have ghost notes built into them (and that will trigger at small velocities).
Kenny, is there a way to do the reverse? To trigger a sample from the gated sound? So typically it could be the hihats for example? Maybe a different plugin is needed for that instead?
I wrote that comment 4 months ago....I now have no idea what I was talking about!? hehe ;-) It does sound confusing, I agree. I think what I meant was, to trigger the a sample from the sound that is NOT being heard as a result of the gate (ie for me, that's the gated sound!). In this video, the trigger is the sound that the gate is letting through, so the kick drum and the snare bleed is being 'gated'. So to be totally clear and practical, in this example, it would be to trigger a sample from the bleed through of the snare we can hear on that kick track. Why the hell I wanted that...no idea! haha :-) I guess to trigger a snare sample as well and end up with a kick and snare being resampled and not just the kick.
@@chumbo You have to process your source track so that the trigger plugin detects the hits better. ex : if you wanna trigger snare sounds from a kick track with snare bleed, maybe highpass the kick track quite a bit to make it sound less like a kick and have more snare sound in the source track , etc.
I can't figure out how to record wave files on each individual track from my VSTI midi on channel one. I use Superior Drummer and I can get the multi channel routing set up but I want to print the wave files for each track (kick, snare, etc.) and I can't figure out how to do it. When I hit record enable the audio goes away and records nothing. Any ideas?
I've tried this several times but have never gotten the end result to be sample accurate. I always end up having to go in and re-alien the hits as the play back eventually drifts. Yeah in principle it should work but it has never worked for me. Good video anyway.

thats fuckin cool
This is a really neat application of the concept. You should do a video about it
that's genius omg
Dope !
this is brilliant
Perfect technique for the metal/punk stuff I'm composing. If I could buy you a virtual beer Kenny, I would :D
Thank you very much for the explanation. Cristal clear, straight to the point.
Dude. You rock. Thank you for your clear and concise tutorials!
this is one of the most useful skills i've learned yet. thanks for the tutorial!!
Been trying to figure this out for ages. Finally, I can use the Dan Presland kick sound on my TD-12. Thank you!
Awesome Tutorial!! thanks for posting this...
how do I go to directory? You didn't explained it. please help!
Great stuff Kenny. Just learning the amazing functionality of Reaper.
such a great series of tutorials... Thank you
Perfect tutorial!
Is there a way to also send the dynamics / velocity information from one channel to another? Now all kicks are the same velocity in my project
you have the best videos
I,m very happy with REAPER , many thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great tutorial, works like a charm, thank you so much!
Exactly what I was looking for ! Many thanks :)
Thanks dude! Just works great.
Looks like magic
Awesome Tutorial!!!
I get a signal, but only a one shot kick and no other.
How do I make it to capture each transient from live kick?
Adjust your gate parameters properly so that it catches each kick it
@@djabthrashbro that’s not gonna help this dude

Nice, thanks for sharing!
hell yeah! thank you \m/
I use this method too. Only problem is that it isn't velocity-sensitive. Have a good angle on that, Kenny?
Maybe 2:24 ?
You can make it velocity sensitive if you want.
If only I had watched this video a week ago. It would have saved me a lot of trouble :/
wow thanks!
Please, anyone here knows how to change sample start point by keyboard velocity variations?

you can use any sample. it could be a bark or whatever

Maaan.... it's the most unknown way to sample drums...thanks
REAPER RULES!
It's not drum sampling... It's drum triggering (triggering existing drum samples from live drum tracks).
Thank you!
How did you move the sample when it's frozen
You just move the frozen item. Frozen doesn't mean it's locked horizontally.
Awsome video mate👌
Does anyone know how to make ghost notes sound natural when replacing a snare with a sample?

Have you watched the gazillion of youtube videos on that subject before asking that question ?
this video really helped. is there a way to download that EZ Mix kick drum wav file for free?
Does this maintain dynamics/velocities if you weren't to set it full?
yes if you set it properly
I can't figure out how to set this up in fl studio :(

It doesn't grab all the hits 🤷🏼
Adjust your gate so that it does.
How is there not an easier way to replace hits with a sample? This is very complicated for just replacing sounds
