    I knew I was going to review a CTS-V sometime down the line so when I saw this video I had to force myself NOT to watch it. It was hard... took a long time... but finally I could watch it. The tires on the one I reviewed where off limits for the tarmac-BBQ (so I kept the nannies on), but man. It really is an awesome ride isn't it? That grunt it has... insane!
    Cool review dude, loved the tire roasting!

    We have a 2011 Cadillac CTS v sedan interior color ebony or black with dark colored wood trim. The color is a dimond white tricoat that is an extra thousand dollars. We have a 2005 cadillac xlr with a very light interior along with very light wood trim and color is crystal red tricoat and Way better than a corvette but looks just like it. A 2011 Cadillac Escalade dimond white with ebony interior with regular wood trim and a 2013 Cadillac SRX pearl white metallic exterior and a black exterior with regular wood trim. Can you tell we love our Cadillac vehicles?

      ***** I found an 08 mid trim level one with around 70k miles for 12k, american cars don't hold value that good I guess. Mind that the seats are bit worn tho and some signs of wear and tear are their but nothing a bit of work couldn't fix.

  • @robertstrimpel4223

    Yeah it's basically a ZR1 motor, but with a smaller pulley. I think Cadillac has stepped it's game up the most, but with everything else besides the new Vette and the trucks, GM still makes cheap garbage with even worse interiors. Especially now with these millions of cars recalled...not looking too good

  • @siantschild2010
    @siantschild2010 9 років тому +1

    The 6.2L LS-A engine which is used the CTS-V, as well as the ZL1 Camaro, IS NOT a "de-tuned" version of the LS9 motor found in the C6 ZR1 Corvette.
    "De-tuned" would mean that the engine internals are all the same, but power outputs are different based on engine software, which would include engine mapping and fuel mapping, uploaded to the ECU. De-tuned implies that if you were to flash the LS-A with the LS9 ECU tune, you would get the exact same power.
    HOWEVER
    The LS-A motor, while boasting the same displacement and being SIMILAR to the LS9, actually has a smaller supercharger. The LS9 has a 2.3L Roots supercharger, the LS-A uses a smaller 1.9L supercharger, with only one heat exchanger. Also most of the moving parts in the LS9 motor are forged, whereas they are not in the LS-A
    Close but no cigar.

    • @vernonprice5986
      @vernonprice5986 9 років тому +10

      TGUKF It's actually LSA not LS-A. And the fact is that while you're correct about the forged internals and the supercharger sizes, the LSA and the LS9 are both based on the LS3. The LS9 is an LS3 with forged internals and a supercharger, the LSA is an LS3 with a supercharger. Yes there are very minor differences between them, but they are all basically the same engine. Relax about it.

    The ctsv is Darth Vader in a suit. I named my Sid “short for insidious”. The balance of track appreciation/ignorance and getting the car valeted on a night out, is a straight up gem within American vehicles.

  • @oceankham
    @oceankham 7 років тому

    i wouldn't say a detuned version of the zr1 hence the zr1 uses an LS9 while this cts v has an LSA motor. Both very similar but still different.

    2:17-2:31 I know how to tell. The CTS-Vs will always have that bulge in the hood and those obvious V stickers on the doors and trunk. And David not the motor is a detuned version of the one in the ZL1s and has a different supercharger than the ZR1

    • @vernonprice5986
      @vernonprice5986 10 років тому

      WarmSoftKitty Just to clear this up it's not an LS3, it's an LSA, yes the LSA is in both the ZL1 and the CTS-V, the only difference is the supercharger lid which was redesigned for the ZL1, hence the ~20 more HP. The lid is interchangeable, you can get the same 20 HP increase on the CTS-V by swapping on a ZL1 SC lid.
      And yes, the LSA has a 1.9 liter supercharger, the ZR1 has a 2.3 liter supercharger.

  • @autonut21
    @autonut21 10 років тому

    At 8:40 when u "mat it" it seems that it, (the car) thought about going fast far way too long before it did. Was that what happened, or was that just how it seemed on the video? Was it deciding what gear, then how much boost, then how open the throttle plate should be before it did anything?

  • @slinarez
    @slinarez 10 років тому

    Haha it's not just a detuned ZR1 motor. It has a different supercharger (1.9L vs 2.3L), different pistons, no dry oil sump system, different intercoller, different inlet and exhaust valves, different exhaust manifold, and different main bearing caps. It's a lot more different than most people think.

    You should find someone who will let you drive the wagon version, as if the ctsv wasn't incredible enough, doing Al that as a wagon would be awesome.

    In my opinion American cars are more luxurious that European cars

    • @frodekf
      @frodekf 10 років тому +11

      My picture is an American flag but I live in eastern Europe. You're right, American cars were shitty in 2000's but now they are much better. I'm not saying that Ford or Dodge are as luxurious as for example BMW or Mercedes but Cadillac is at the same level as those two European brands

    • @frodekf
      @frodekf 10 років тому

      Yeah, it's beautiful !
      I just wish American cars were as big as in the 1960s/1970s
      As far as I'm concerned the last real American cruisers were 2000s Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town car

      its an option bro, you aint gonna get a clutch in a m3/m5 or amg

    • @jessmane
      @jessmane 10 років тому +11

      I know it's an option. In my opinion it's dum. If you're gonna get a 500hp vehicle getta stick. There's a reason I won't ever by a m3 m5 or Mercedes....cause they're lammmee.

    • @jessmane
      @jessmane 10 років тому +4

      Idc what anyone says I can't agree with autos in high horsepower cars. When they drag they have pneumatic shifting. Still dum it's not real racing to me.

    • @Dylan-xj8tb
      @Dylan-xj8tb 10 років тому +35

      J Camaro its a luxury car, some want an automatic in a luxury car. and it is true when they say autos are faster in a drag race, especially a stalled auto. I'm a manual fan too but you gotta respect both sides. auto is for consistent fast runs, manual is for fun and to have the driving experience.

    • @jessmane

      I do respect em I'm just saying they're super boring. And any chance I get I'll tell someone to get stick lol.

    Hey El, in our GTO's do you have to get an aftermarket ecu or tune the ecu in order for the car to recognize headers , cat-back or any other exhaust upgrades? Are there any back pressure issues with our cars once you do exhaust mods? Or could I just slap on some pacesetter headers and get the gains right away without any tuning?

      I did Headers on my 2000 GTP and gained 17whp and 11 wtq

    • @thudstick
      @thudstick 10 років тому +2

      17 hp is a good gain for a 200whp car. thats almost 10% and I noticed the power right away. Its your opinion, bro. Which you're definitely entitled to. But most people would agree that exhaust mods wake a car up and are well worth the money

    • @thudstick
      @thudstick 10 років тому

      Well I doubt it's in my head when a dyno proves my point. You should do what I did, and take a stock exhaust car and do a base dyno run and then put a full exhaust on it and then dyno it again. Or just research any car mods video, online or talk to someone that's done it. They all agree with me dude. Companies would not be making exhaust kits for decades and people wouldn't buy them if they did nothing. Headers woke my GTP right up. After doing headers and downpipe along with 3 in catback all the way back I gained 28 whp and 21 wtq. Thats over a 10% gain considering the car only makes 200 whp stock. Almost a 15% gain. Ask anyone, you need to make at least 10% more hp after doing a mod for you to "feel" the difference when driving the vehicle.

    • @thudstick
      @thudstick 10 років тому +2

      Yeah the GTP is supercharged. I have the dyno sheet still in my car's folder. A lot of people have these cars around where I live dude. They're everywhere. The GT's and SE's are all over..GTP's are a little more rare, but I see 'em all the time still. I modded my car with pretty much full bolt on's and out of all the mods the headers actually made the biggest difference in hp gain,. You're right about torque. The headers only gave me like 11 tq but I got a substantial gain in horsepower.
