there was 220 acres across that once belonged to it but was bought by Coolmore Stud ! They have anything that's anyway nice in the area bought up ! Nobody else would get a look in .

Mr O'Hara said the land, the land is worth more than the house....17 acres? Where has the land gone?
He probably meant both the 17 acres of land and the 17 acre lake. My guess is that it is a well stocked lake. Fishing in inland waterways and lakes is a lucrative industry in Ireland so the lake paired with the land is probably worth more than the house, especially when the house is so clearly in need of expensive renovation and not located in an attractive location - far from any of the main cities or airports. For these reasons it would not attract a lot of interest - residential or commercial.
