Hi I was just wondering if you know about the Canadian 1983 quarter?? I’ve been searching for many many yrs so far I have only found 2 wat can u tell me about the mintage on them??
If copper pennies are worth .03 cents how do you get that price?
Dime must be a silver set that was broke up or you have a 100k coin?
@@sherilynstarzko8116 q
I also have a 2006 p dime worth anything you think?
You've got me so interested in coins! I'm 60 years old, and love history and things that show us a different perspective on ourselves. Thank you!
It doesn’t matter how old your are. The coin hobby is for everybody!
When you drop the 1980 on the table and do the same with a 64 rosie, do they sound the same? Not sure but you probably should hang on to it for now as an anomaly. Or, maybe sometime in the future you would send that to ANACS for grading the error of either the wrong planchet or over weight.
Set that weird dime on top of an ice cube. If it starts to melt fast you have silver. Highest heat conductivity.
😂
Never heard of that
Or try putting a magnet to it and see if it sticks, if it don't you have silver.
I'm so glad that you pointed out that the obverse side of the new 2021 Washington quarter has gone back to the look of the old style which has the high relief as opposed to the ones from the 1990's up to 2020. I prefer the look of the older style myself. Have you thought about cleaning the dime thiroughly so you can see the sides much better?
I like the 2021 quarters too but I heard the mint is going to change the reverse once again in 2022.
They have both styles date on back and front
That's 2021 sorry
If you clean a coin it will lose its value.
Oh I bet you’re HIGHLY disappointed with the newest ones
Quin your best bet to find out if that dime is silver would be to go to a coin shop or jewelry shop they should have a scale that reads to 2 or 3 decimal places. If it reads say 2.46 or more it could be silver if its closer to 2.41 it could be clad. Let us know what you find out. It could also be a dime minted on a foreign planchet.

I have one of those dimes also
As a Dutch girl, it is nice to see the old Gulden. Now we pay with the Euro. So it is becomming rare to find the Gulden.
I usually only watch Canada coin shows except do enjoy USA half dollar searching.
Tat dime has me puzzled too. If you get any more info on it, please do an update video, would love to know
I have been hoarding copper cents for 15-20 years, probably have 600-700 pounds. Most are separated by year.
Thank you for removing that background sound. It use to give me anxiety.
Great episode!!! Great finds!
On the rare times I hunt anymore (no time), I always wash my hands
🧼🙌🏻
See if that dime is magnetic. It may have just had a super rough life.
You found a little bit of everything. Nice hunt!
Thanks Bruce!
Excellent!!! Very enjoyable.
Those are pretty cool finds! And the coin looks silver to me but I also don’t know a whole lot about coins😆

Just started watching your site. I'm impressed by the things I'm learning from you. You make collecting more fun. How many years have you been doing this?
Thank you! I have been on UA-cam for over 7 years now, but I have collected coins since I was 6 years old!
@@QuinsCoins I started collecting 50 years ago but now I'm trying to redo a collection my parents were working on because my collection was stolen. I had so many nice coins. One here in Minnesota and one in Utah. The one in Utah was taken from my storage and I thought ok, I still have the one in Minnesota. I'm home here now but, mine was stolen by a family member. Needless to say ... that Person isn't allowed on the property anymore. For now I'm just trying to fill in the gaps again. Will never find the older coins again though. Sorry for going on. Watching your show helps me. You seem to have a genuine love for the collection and now have your lady who is just as excited as you are. God Bless! Sincerely SuzyQ72.

I know this a very old comment but i was curuios were you are getting your coins? i just started this hobby and i don't want too spend crazy money of I dont have too were did u find them at a
Flea market ebay or a a coin ahop? Craigslist? Website??? Thanks
How do u get customer wrapped rolls? Also do they have a better chance at having unique coins?
Yes!! My biggest single score was buying customer wrapped Kennedy half dollar coins. I bought nine rolls of half dollar coins from one of the big Banks (can't say the name). In 4 of those 9 rolls, I got 52 40% halves & 16 90% Kennedy halves. Big collection dump.
Sadly some people apparently need the $$ so bad they sell these beauties for face value because they don't know the real value of silver coins or they feel they don't have the time to do it right
Novice hunter here, I found one these dimes yesterday roll hunting! It's very interesting and confusing.. lol. I love it so I've kept mine as well..
We are done with the shortage in our area, but I went into a bank yesterday and they said they heard we might be going back into another one. I really hope not.😩
get yourself a silver testing kit, not just for this dime but for all future purchases. Rings, silverware, candlestick holders you name it its probably been made in silver. I got into buying silverware for sterling, but theirs alot of plated out there, got me a test kit, even the ones that say sterling but just don't have that petina because they were cleaned I check.
Doesn’t plated silver test positive with an acid test?
It's definitely not a silver dime, I dunno about it being plated or just environmental damage, but they didn't make silver dimes in any form in 1980.
So absolutely no reason for it to occur at all.
While I've enjoyed the videos from day 1, I hope in the future, that you will have battle boxes with your brother. I love the battles you two get into.
Maybe try a sound test of dropping it. Compare it to the sound a regular silver dime would make if they sound similar, it could be silver.
That’s a great idea, not sure why I didn’t think of that! 😆
I like the new design 🔥
Hello I also have two dimes that are silver and the year are 1953,1961 and the mint mark are in the back left bottom side by the torch are they worth anything
So what if I have a 1968 no mintmark n the rim looks double..?? Could u help me on this one?
Capped bust halfs are my favorite series your very knowledgeable alot of good info in this video
I was hoping that they'd made a special mint set in 1980, such as the silver proof sets where all the clad coins had 90% silver version substituted, but I'm virtually positive those were offered regularly until '92.
As for this particular Rosie, I agree that the surface quite resembles that of 90% silver, but I've found that clad, in the right environment, chemically speaking, can do a pretty good job of simulating that look. Honestly, the edge just looks like dirty clad to me, as it has those 2 distinct bands. Ironically, it also sort of has the edge look of 40% silver half dollars....'course we know that never happened with dimes...................at least as far as the government has let on..... 😎
I found a quarter exactly like the Nederlands one you found and it is also super light the only difference
Is it says bahamas and it has a diffrent crest on the front
Right found a 2019 mint mark w quarter how do I submit my quarter
New sub here! I have a steel cent, I actually found it in a coin star machine. Someone left behind the discarded coins that the machine can't count. Check those coin machines! Loving the channel!!
Silver drops right through--I've found three dimes and a quarter, so far this year.
I have a wheat penny with no date. Is that possible or did it wear off entirely.?
Pleasehelp
I have some super old wheat pennies. I have some Indian head pennies as well. How do I find out if there was anything
I have a westpoint without the vr stamp just a w for the 2019 Guam...Is that normal ?
Hey Quin, I found a 2017 dime that has looks like he has three faces, wish I could get it on your site to share it and see what people think about this one, never seen nothing like it.
Cool! There are mistake coins out there to be found from time to time, but you ought to flip every coin front-to-back otherwise you could miss.
An example: in the spring of 2021, I brought a double-tailed quarter at one of the local branches of the banks I use. Scraps is the weight test and the sound test. I'm sending to PCGS to be graded along with some other coins.
Now! If I just opened the roll and looked at the edge and threw them out again, I never would have found that double-tailed quarter
I love this design I wish they continued it for longer, it it might be something special in the future!
Hi Quin, I got my magnet out and checked my Canadian coins. So I have some that don’t stick to the magnet. Does that mean their Silver? Thank you! Lil
Not necessarily. This really only applies to 1968 Canadian quarters and dimes. If you have non-magnetic versions of one of those, then yes you have silver!
Thank you! In the last year, I recently got into cherry picking. I love it. But even though I’ve been saving what I think I could maybe make some money with. I don’t know what I’m doing 😂. Could you stir me in the right direction? Is there anybody that could look at what I have? I know of no one that is into coin collecting. Are there people that do that sort of thing?
It might be a good idea to take the ones that you believe to have some value down to your nearest coin shop to have them take a look for you. They should be able to give you some idea of an estimated value!
Thank you! Just watched your video proposing! It was awesome! Was surprised it brought tears to my eyes and a happy smile for yous! ❤️❤️🌹🎊🎉🍾
@@QuinsCoins I got a 1942 Canadian penny don't look like it's a bad shape
I would like to find out what that red in that dime was. I have a quarters one of them is almost solid red. And you said that they have almost no silver in them?
Where can you get the place mats?
There are 2 other answers to the !980 D dime. 1: it is a counterfeit coin. A man in the 1930s did this to jefferson nickels until he got caught because he did not put the large P on the back of a 1944. 2: Wrong planchette in mix. A silver planchette may have some how got into the mix before they where stamped out.
either way wouldn't it be insanely valuable? The counterfeit nickels are worth a lot if they're found today, and a misused silver planchet would also be highly sought after
Makes no sense for someone to counterfeit a dime during the 1980s, nickels were way more valuable back in the 50s.
O my goodness! U have to get someone to look at that dime.
Thank you, Quin !
How does one get to obtain rolls of dated coins as you have displayed? Can they be ordered, or is it just positive chance?
Do you still go to university of Michigan?
Nope, I graduated in 2019!
Will the magnet test work on the dime ?
Unfortunately no because American clad dimes do not contain any magnetic metals like the non-silver Canadian quarter does (99.9% nickel)

Pretty cool I’ve just got back into coin roll hunting and I’ve pulled a 1925 s and 1934 d Lincoln cents with a 1940 D in mint state , pretty cool finds with lots of copper, looks like there are still lots to be found out there
Nice pulls!
@@QuinsCoins yep customer wrapped rolls are the way to go
1940 D in mint state? thats cool, once i found a nice 1956 d penny in a box
@@notsogga I think it’s a low mint state
It looks nice , congrats on the 1956 d very few unc wheat cents in circulation today, always a pleasure to pull one
I got a 1946 wheat penny
I had a steel penny that was in a coin wrap like it was from a coin shop or a pawn shop.
That 1980 is very odd. I doubt that it's silver given the date and the weight, but it's definitely strange.
Most likely the corrosion.
Or could it be an error where the planchet had a design that accidentally made it heavier?
Most likely it could just be silver plated.
But the center of the dime did look pretty dense. Could be the density of the planchet that got struck was a little bit more than the others.
I save all Washington Crossing the Delaware cause it is a one time mintage. Love Canadian and wheat pennies to.
You should also be looking for the 1996 W (Westpoint) mint mark. I only know of 1 ever found in circulation. But 1.4 Million minted... It could happen...
Yeah I am aware of that one as well. I do check for it, but don’t look too hard. Like you said, they’re not likely to pop up, but it is possible!
Also in 2015 or 2016 there is a S dime
And the quarter is changing again next year.
And not for the better.
I have a lot of Canadian Turkish and euros could they be worth anything
THE DESIGN SUCKS
@@devilsinblack3437 what haopened to the 2022 maya angelou qaurter?
@@kimberlypelletier156 not really maybe if they have errors they could be worth anything depending on the date and mint marks with massive errors
I really like the crossing the Delaware designs, especially now that I know to look for that error. But since ive already found 2 for my collection I see too many lol!
Maybe the weight of that dime you thought was silver got it from the corrosion you saw on it.
But that's not so much possible.
It could have been the planchet they stamped was more dense than the others and it made it heavier.
Hey, the mint can make errors.
Hey Quin, I have a 1966 dime overstruck on a DATED 1962 D SILVER DIME. (Can see the 1962 date behind the right side head of Roosy!) Sent to PCGS and have it graded real and MS 62.. Any idea what this one of a kind error is worth?
Could the 1980-D be a counterfeit . There were also some crazy thing in the 70's of radom coins (Barber Quarters KGVI quarters) being throwing into hoppers at San Fran so that is a possibility , but even looking at it it seems off so I would lean counterfeit
I'm thinking that dime is an older counterfeit. Probably made of a heavier base metal?
That’s would be pretty cool!
@@QuinsCoins I found a 1965 quarter that looks very similar to that dime and that quarter I found weighs almost to a silver quarter. It weighed 6.1 grams. Because of the wear the coin has I'm guessing they were struck decade's ago so there old fakes.

Hey I got a 1967 dime I think it's worth a few hundred. How do I sale it
I collect coins also and I have a 1946 2 penny with no mint mark , and a 1945 with no mint mark , my 1945 has looks like the L is worn or may not can’t tell and one of my 1946 coins looks deformed around the edges do you think there worth anything or should I ask an appraiser?
I definitely like the new design for the 2021 quarter. As far as I know is only a 1 year type. I could be wrong tho I’m not sure
Yes one year only.
The obverse is the obverse of the original Washington quarter. It's part of that series. The reverse of Washington crossing the Delaware is a one year design, sort of like the bicentennial reverse. The state and park quarters have a different obverse to mark those series being different from the Washington quarters and I suspect the next series to come next year will have a different obverse also.

@Quin's Coins
What banks do you use to get the coin rolls? All my bank and credit union both told me to f*** off basically
I get strange coins, and Don't know How to look them up! Can you tell me?
I just ran across this video. Did you consider the dime that looks silver but weighs 2.4 grams - did you consider it could be a Canadian planchet mixed in with dimes planchet. The mat says Canadian coins will weigh various.
Would using a magnet help? On the 1980 possible silver dime?
On the 1967 and 1968 Canadian coins, you have to weigh it with your digital scale, not just use a magnet.
The quarters & dimes made in the 1rst half of 1967 were 80% silver, 2nd half of 1967 were 50% silver.
The quarters & dimes in the 1rst half of 1968 were 50% silver & the 2nd half of 1968 were supposed to be clad.
Weighing the 1967's accomplishes nothing as both the 50% and 80% weigh the exact same. The easiest way to separate the silver from the 68's is with a magnet because all the non magnetic ones are 50% silver.
the 80% and 50% silver quarters both weigh 5.83 grams and the dimes weigh 2.33 grams.
If you sell 67's in quantity the buyers will buy them at 65% because that's half way between 50% and 80%
The only non destructive ways I know of for figuring out the 50%'er from the 80%'ers is either a density test with water or an XRF and both really have their drawbacks.
Density test just takes too long, and XRF in the short term costs five figures to buy and to use it for testing individual dimes and quarters isn't cost effective because the X-ray tubes inside them are just like a regular lightbulb where they only have so many on off cycles before you have to replace.
“I’m happy with these 2021 designs”
If only he knew what came the year after
Would you share the reason why you pull and set aside the bicentennial coins
Maybe a stupid question but is there a good non damaging way to clean coins without damaging them
