I did this once on my 147. Right site no problem. Left site more of a problem. The upper wishbone bolt came out with no sweat. But the rest of it was so stuck I thought they did a dragon Ball fusion or something. I just had common hand tools and a jack to work with. It took me 9h, 3 bits, 2 drills and my finger. 😄 After I asked a work shop to lend me they heater for a few minutes, it came out, red glowing like a Baboon button. I will never forget this. 😄
4:02 - you can reverse the bolt and the next change you won't need to remove the whole assembly. It's tested and it will not touch the spring. For added safety, you can put another washer. Also the upper bolt should be tighten only after you lift the whole suspension with a jack or something. I'm just trying to be useful to others :D
Just an observation; personally I'd tighten up the fork bolt on the bottom wishbone when you've lowered the car as it'll twist the bush prematurely tightening it unloaded, I ruined some new wishbones within months doing it like that.
Absolutely right, don't forget to pre-load the suspension or you'll ruin the fork/lower arm bush quickly. THIS bolt can be tightened just once on the ground but more normal to measure wheelcentre-to-arch distance before unloading the suspension (jacking the car) then when finished jack hub up till you have the right distance as above before tightening bolts. Then wheel back on....
Good stuff! I need to change all four shock absorbers on my wife's Ducati Corse. I know the lower pinch bolts on the fronts are absolutely seized. Might you be making a video on this. Cheers.
Hi, at 4:34 u mentioned that the wishbone mount/bracket wholes can also be damaged and need to be replaced. I have been looking everywhere to find this product for alfa GT 937a1000 but can't find it anywhere. Do u maybe have a link or oem number of that bracket so i can look it up online . Thanks in advance
Good morning from Athens. Do you suggest the original wishbone or a good after market one,coz there is a big price difference between them. Bravo for your job, keep on teaching us all about ours be loved Alfas!!
Great Job, I have follow your video in order to replace upper wishbone but now it makes an cracking sound! is there a possibility that my new spare was broken ?
Can the upper arms be refurbished? Seems like a waste to just throw away the aluminum part. Maybe a different ball joint can be fitted from another car.
U give confidence to guys that have never done this kind of job. Thank you. Much appreciated

Yep, all suspension bush bolts should be tightened when in the correct on ground position

Great video, do you recommend replacing the strut / top mounts whilst doing this?
if there worn or rusty yes but there normally ok.

you have either done something wrong or its faulty.
Just developed a creaking sound at low speed , any idea what it could be??
Engine holders or a bolt is in the way
Next weekends job 😂😭
What replacement parts do you recommend? What hold up the best?
genuine or trw
How did you diagnose the need to replace the upper wishbone/
they wobble when you move them with your hand or they queek.
Its 3am watching it , cuz i got to do it tomorrow, alfas a bit complicated need to learn something thanks
You can do it!

Never tried or looked in to it.
Poly bushes but dunno about the ball joint.
Everything can. My experience is bushes fail before ball joints
@@egon2875 poly bushes won't last long in this application. Wishbone too narrow. Best used for leaf springs
Hey Neal
How much does a garage like yourself charge in labour hours to do each side?
I charge £45 An hour.
Italia Autos
Yep, how many hours a side?
Reason I am asking is to ensure my local Alfa garage isn’t taking the mickey...
Mine next week right and Left...mot rule
Doesn't the 156 suspension have two wishbones? Aaaah, this is the upper..
