The worst part about it is, they publish good or/and decent games and ruin them with greediness and stupidity. I still can't forgive them about how they desperately gave up and milked the "few" coomers with Vindictus instead of fixing up the game and trying to draw in more people.

I bro was the real sleeper agent. He got the chance of a "monumental" achievement and decided to use his position to come clean. What a master, what an icon. He's the hero we deserve.
At the beggining I thought he was just randomly ranting while streaming or making a video, but then realizing that he was being promoted and hosted on the official Maplestory Twitch channel and as soon as he got to 99.99% he started his rant while 20k people were watching him... that for sure takes some huge balls to do, probably he'll be put on a blacklist and the devs/publishers will never ever support, host and promote him again, but man, he's probably right now the most well liked, most respected Maplestory content creator in the community. A true legend indeed. Not everyone has the balls to put their money where their mouth is. This is as if Asmon started the /spit campaign against store mounts in the middle of an sponsored stream during a BlizzCon or something.
That's legit fine, Amazon/Twitch take a significant amount of money from decent streamers while supporting *hot tub grrls* instead. They also *hate* when people run their own products, because it's difficult to get merchandising money from things that *literally are not yours.* Any time you buy a mug or a t-shirt that specifically sends money to the creator it circumvents their payment schemes. Nobody streams in 4k and even gets those features unless you're showing skin; and that's because of the bits and donations that they take *chunks* out of. Wanna help a streamer? Buy a cup *from them* as buying sponsored content doesn't send money back *unless you use their specific codes.* and even then it's not *per person* it's like Obsidian and Bethesda where they set goals and rewards as they see fit. Make sure you don't rage against the machine by literally becoming just another cog in said machine.
Someone doesnt get the point of a protest...hint...its to make people uncomfortable and ruin your day (you know since the protest is about someone elses day that got ruined).
SUOMI did this in Runescape a long time ago. He was 1xp away from the maximum and stopped to protest Jagex. They eventually added an update that tricked him into getting it on accident. Then they banned him.
Jagex devs are always trying to get the upper hand on their player's in situations like this. They know the only people playing are hopelessly addicted so they don't care
Niru is an absolute madlad, mad respect for him and his journey. Thank you for covering his livestream, he deserves ALL the love and respect from the entire gaming community 🤟
I can guarantee nothing comes of this. Commendable effort but Nexon will do nothing, continue making billions while this guy has his 5 minutes of fame and then dies in obscurity.
Was in gradeschool playing this game on a mini laptop that's scalding my leg from how hot it is haha. Came back years later only to level up to 100+ in a few days that took my original character weeks or months even to do lol
Niru is a complete hero for this one, all of us on reg servers have been talking about the same issues that were created by Nexon over the last 5 years (the games over 20 years old now) It's gotten worse over the last year alone as management gets flipped out and fired after they get put in to do 1 change here, and 1 change there. Niru covered almost everything on his stream, and rightfully so explained it to all servers as both KMS (korea) JMS (Japan) CMS (China) TMS (Taiwan) and GMS (Global) as we were all watching.
It's so sad how they vowed to never make a "maplestory classic" and actively hunt down any pservers who try to do it. Pre-BB maple was my absolute favorite mmorpg, it had everything a good mmorpg needs, great social aspects and it had character, not this amorphous blob it became after where every class is the exact same shit with slightly different visuals.
He said he feels like he is throwing everything away, but it is almost assured that him doing what he did will end up putting him in a better place moving forward.
Yeah, it's already a bigger accomplishment in my eyes. He's even got the extra insurance to still hit 300 if they actually improve things (they won't), but either way it's the biggest win possible.
Nexon has had a really bad history, especially with Korean Maplestory (where like 80%+ of their revenue comes from, the other small bit is made up of all other regions combined.) They had a few scandals lying to players, the latest one I know of last year was that the Cubes (you pay money for these to random roll your stats on equips) but essentially at the very highest tier, you could get some crazy stats, and apparently some time I believe a few months later they took those possibilities out of the Cube pool and told no one for YEARS. So people were paying money for stats they literally could no longer get, basically legacy stats shortly after the initial release and update later. Extra Context... Their old "reboot" servers now called a different name, are a free to play friendly version where you CANT trade equips even within your own account, but your characters get a huge damage buff and increase in Meso (in game currency) drop rate because you could buy things like cubes and other premium items for in game mesos instead of real life money for NX (their premium currency). Apparently a popular Korean-MS streamer decided to go to the Korean Reboot server and showed off how far they got and how easy it was for no money. They lost a ton of revenue with players going to reboot since Korean culture love to grind games, so it'd likely be better to play a game that they can get the premium outcomes without having to pay for the premium currency. Since then, they have been nerfing the reboot servers (some of which Global MS have defended and are not coming to the global version) to entice more players to go back to legacy servers. As part of the above Cube scandal "apology" they decided to make legacy servers be able to buy the cubes for in game mesos as well and stop the premium sale of cubes altogether. Shortly after that announcement, the 6th Job was the next big update but had its hype immediately die down when they announced an in game cap on the 6th job materials to skill up while offering a battle pass to get more of those materials daily for, you guessed it, premium currency. Having to give up their cash cow of Cube sales, they are likely going to continue to monetize the game in other ways and likely continue to try and nerf reboot as well as keep coaxing players to go back to legacy servers. RIP Jett/Dragon Shooter...iykyk 💀

I'm so tired of seeing my favorite games be used and abused. It's like these companies just beat the game with a money bat until it dies. Then all that's left is bad memories about what used to be good.
Thing is the game isn't even bad as a whole. Maplestory becomes bad when you treat it as your daily forever game, because the game doesn't reward that kind of gameplay commitment. If you just play the game when events or a new class roll out, and then dip until the next one, it's overall a very nice game to play. The game still offers very smooth gameplay, a plethora of well written quests, the best soundtrack in gaming history, a huge variety of classes to pick from, constant events that aid with character growth, and an ironman server that gets rid of most pay to win features. You just need to play it in moderation.

@@DaShikuXI It's a single player game(All the way until party bosses and only during party bosses), marketed as an MMO, where playing frequently is discouraged, yet gearing takes ages, leveling takes ages(is also required to unlock most of the good story quests), legion takes ages, and the company has been outed for maliciously manipulating the upgrade mechanics to farm players for money/time in the past. Also, if a game is only entertaining when it does events, because the intentionally time gated progression is sped up for a bit, then it's not a good game. They could make the farming more fun, the leveling easier, and the items less rare. Instead they continue releasing content that demands constant play, while not rewarding the effort. I agree that it's an event surf game, but that's the problem, in my opinion at least.

And it's an empty complaint because just days before they already put out a message saying they were going to take GMS's development in a different direction to please the global audience more. It just shows how much care he has for the game and i totally support what he did to be honest... It saddens me to see how my childhood MMO is getting ruined by bad decisions from Nexon. I'll still sporadically play the game though because in essence Maple is still Maple!

It’s kinda insane when i went to a net cafe how many people are playing maple story. $$$
The worst part about it is, they publish good or/and decent games and ruin them with greediness and stupidity. I still can't forgive them about how they desperately gave up and milked the "few" coomers with Vindictus instead of fixing up the game and trying to draw in more people.
@@Axymoon A lot of Asian companies, are often seeking out short term profits so this isn't new to me. It was that bad with gacha games and its this bad with games such as this.
It's korean EA focusing on MMO's instead of rereleasing the same franchises every year.

true, i was there back in the day, 2003 or 2004 whatever it was, it was new and cool but the cash shop was already insanity
@sosleepy512he said pioneer not make popular
Wrong, MS was the game that popularize p2w.
@sosleepy512 I said "pioneered", not popularised, because Maplestory JP were simply the first ever to do it (the fact you're even arguing with me about it is proof enough you are right)
@austinmahone6322 if this is aimed at me- look it up
Maplestory Japan were the first to use a lootbox system in a video game. Specifically, it was the Gachapon Tickets of 2004
I bro was the real sleeper agent. He got the chance of a "monumental" achievement and decided to use his position to come clean. What a master, what an icon. He's the hero we deserve.
he still got a monumental achievement in its own right
At the beggining I thought he was just randomly ranting while streaming or making a video, but then realizing that he was being promoted and hosted on the official Maplestory Twitch channel and as soon as he got to 99.99% he started his rant while 20k people were watching him... that for sure takes some huge balls to do, probably he'll be put on a blacklist and the devs/publishers will never ever support, host and promote him again, but man, he's probably right now the most well liked, most respected Maplestory content creator in the community.
Perfect time to pivot in to a new game. People watched him for thousands of hours of MapleStory, they will probably follow him to the next MMO-lite

Niru is an absolute madlad, mad respect for him and his journey. Thank you for covering his livestream, he deserves ALL the love and respect from the entire gaming community 🤟
He was handed the key to the city, but he used it to bash the mayor over the head instead. Absolute legend
Best way to phrase it. Ever.
When you push people hard enough, they start pushing back.
he did not pushed back, he jujutsued/aikidoed them. Used their own push against them.
I can guarantee nothing comes of this. Commendable effort but Nexon will do nothing, continue making billions while this guy has his 5 minutes of fame and then dies in obscurity.
GIGA BASED
Used to play MapleStory avidly during highschool. Now, this game is pure dogwater.
i stop playing years ago because of hackers killing everything in the zone, just can't lvl up anywhere
Was in gradeschool playing this game on a mini laptop that's scalding my leg from how hot it is haha. Came back years later only to level up to 100+ in a few days that took my original character weeks or months even to do lol
I refresh the dogs water all the time. Its probably the cleanest water in the... oh righ all the saliva.
what is not dogwater nowadays?
Always was. 😂
STOP THE COUNT!
YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE!
-Maple story publishers probably
Having to give up their cash cow of Cube sales, they are likely going to continue to monetize the game in other ways and likely continue to try and nerf reboot as well as keep coaxing players to go back to legacy servers.

im so happy asmon posted this to spread awareness even more
Its sad to see how bad the game is. While all my friends were playing WoW together back in 2006-2008 I was playing Maplestory loved it. Probably my favorite mmorpg still to this date until Nexon decided to run the game to the ground.
I'm so tired of seeing my favorite games be used and abused. It's like these companies just beat the game with a money bat until it dies. Then all that's left is bad memories about what used to be good.
just say ur broke
Thing is the game isn't even bad as a whole. Maplestory becomes bad when you treat it as your daily forever game, because the game doesn't reward that kind of gameplay commitment. If you just play the game when events or a new class roll out, and then dip until the next one, it's overall a very nice game to play.
The game still offers very smooth gameplay, a plethora of well written quests, the best soundtrack in gaming history, a huge variety of classes to pick from, constant events that aid with character growth, and an ironman server that gets rid of most pay to win features.
You just need to play it in moderation.
I mean.. It's a kids game dude. The fact 30 year old dues are still playing it because they played it when they were 13 is kind of their problem lmao. I played it 20 years ago when I was 13-14..
