I miss the alien plants from 1st and 2nd edition White Dwarf Battle Reports... :'( Not *everything* has to be a bombed-out ruin. Sometimes battles can happen in the wilderness!
Agreed. That cactus is fantastic, and every terrain collection can be improved by adding a few of them. They're dead easy to make too, if you can get some styrofoam balls.
Honestly, you're a significantly better painter than I think you give yourself credit for - this series is inspiring for someone who's just getting back into the hobby and has painted very few of the growing collection of models on his shelves
Yeah, it's made me feel incredibly self conscious about my painting, and has probably ruined painting for me just as much as the guy in my FLGS that laughs at my models every time I go for a game.
The Chaplain’s scarf is a stole or stola. I have one for when I’m Chaplaining IRL. That may boggle some minds 😂 I also have a hairband that I’m planning to paint like a 40K Chaplain, just for my own personal amusement. Cos... Chaplain 😎😂
Wib, after you mentioned Spaced-Out Marines/Christmas Marines in the 3rd Rogue Trader weirdness video, I jumped onto eBay and bought one straight away. The idea of GW parodying their own poster-boys was just too cool. He's my Chaos Space Marine Sorcerer who fell to Tzeentch after his Oolotic Kidney degraded due to a fault in his Geneseed, causing him to get intoxicated from even the trace amounts of alcohol in ripe fruit. His constant drunkenness allowed him to be swayed from the true path/allowed him to see the truth. (Delete as appropriate.)
I can't see that anyone has written about it, so I'll point out that the frogs are strapped to their legs so the skinks can replenish the toxins for the darts of their blowguns. That's the kind of little details and sense of humour that really made citadel minis stand out back in the day. Love the work as always Wib.
That RT bodyguard design is...sublime, honestly. The elaborate wrist communicator (unless he's just doing a salute)? The Fist of the North Star physique? The tall mask and flowing cape balanced against the lack of a shirt? The weird spear-with-a-gun-grip? Amazing weird sci-fi stuff.
As a space marine player, or army starter that is, I love looking at those space marines and seeing an eleven minute video with multiple extremely well painted marines is utterly _errogenous_
You've done an amazing job on these, yet again! Special love for the skinks. I Love Them So Much. And of course the Flumph. I need that mini. Great job says the annoying panda from twitch chat and twitter and so on.
Yet again I wish to praise thankyou for this series, Wib. It has motivated me to paint more models to paint this year than in the last ten. My total for 2020 was 116 Painted against 86 bought. Which in my little twist to the challenge, justifies the purchase of a model that I would not normally be able to justify. So my first purchase of this year was a Forgeworld Land Raider MkIIb
Thank you for this wonderful series Wib ! I love listening to your smooth voice, learning the deatils about the models and how you painted them ! I love your Argent Wardens and your Grot Rebellion ! And I'm looking forward for the next episodes !
I love this series so much, in response I can say that I only have 4 models in my backlog from last year to finish (I was so close) and have started planning my hobby year roughly out to attempt to finish one project before starting the next.
Nice collection of minis, cool to see those old Rogue Trader marines. They are something of a challenge to try and look good since they're smooth and almost with out detail, I punished myself by painting one as a Black Templar, the struggle is real! Happy painting!
I honestly thought that Custodes was an Eldar corsair. Also, who doesn't paint the leather on chaos marines as flayed skin? Need a holster for your pistol? Flayed skin. Want a loin cloth? Flayed skin.
Can I just say I really like the total bought vs total painted idea. I tried it myself this year and looking at my final score give me a nice feeling of accomplishment that I have started a 2021 tally. So far 0 bought vs 4 painted.
I love the look of that chaplain, it looks amazing! You have also inspired me to keep track of painted vs bought for 2021 myself which is probably a cursed idea in the long run
I've recently got ahold of a Star Wars Legion set of Mandalorians (Clan Wren) and went to town on making each of them with a different paint job, with the single brush I have. (Which I got with the Ultramarine vs Death Guard starter set.) If you want to expand your Star Wars models they could be worth it. It'd be interesting to see what you come up with.
ca. 8:20 : This one stays on my unpainted-Minis-Pile as well. (already based and everything.) I'm not quite sure, if the primer really is the problem in the first place. It could also be, that the miniatures aren't cleaned pretty well down in china and you fight more with rests of the greasing-medium. (I mean: I use a lot of Vallejo primer most of the time without any problems myself.) And yes: This coin-Bases are a little bit of a downer, when you are used to the standard that GW set. (But they aren't uncommon. I ordered a set of renedra-Bases, before I stumbled over my actual regular Base-Spring and they look pretty much the same as the D&D-Bases do.)
They all look great! That's an impressive total for the year, too. I managed 114 completed models last year I think and (excluding the Epic marines I painted in my youth) it's possibly more than I've ever finished before. I'm also rather jealous of your freehand skills, I tried a little bit of freehand this year but even basic stuff feels very difficult. Your demand work is an inspiration!
I didn’t realise you had your own channel away from S&W. You want to promote this channel mate, only just stumbled on it. All the best love the content.
I have a bunch of those thunderbolt interceptors that I used with my epic 40,000 space marine army. Yes, I used Imperial Guard fighters in a space marine army. The rules said this was perfectly fine. It was also absolutely necessary, becuase the space marine army list had literally no anti aircraft units, and my best mate played orks and used multiple squadrons of fighta bommas. Without the trusty thunderbolts, he was pretty much free to launch strike after strike on my marines with absolute impunity... Epic 40,000 was a fun but terribly flawed game system. Thankfully they made the aircraft rules a lot better when Epic Armageddon was released a few years later.
Lovely stuff as usual. One thing bugs me though; why would the make space marine scouts into an elites choice? Aren't they supposed to be the fresh recruits?
Hey Wib, quick question but how do you get the bony white on your marines so good? Ive tried to paint skeletons but I never managed to get it looking so clean and consistent. Any tips?
Oh, the Wizkids ones! I've really tried to get a Seeker, to paint a little squadron of background generics, instead of a Starscream-Skywarp-Thundercracker team, but they're not easy to get in the UK.
@@TheSmart-CasualGamer yeah, I had bought the megatron one, but then a dog we were dogsitting ate half of it AND my leadbelcher pot. the dog is fine, but I was a little miffed.
Does the chest to the right of where the RT Guard / Custodes's left fist is touching his chest look like that or is it supposed to be part of his cloak that heùs holding?
The changes to scouts really do suck. my entire army got wiped out because of it ;-; At Least your paint jobs look great ;w; Why not mask the see-through stand off so that getting paint into it isn't a worry?
It is with intense jealousy that I watch your quivering boyfriend spin round and round.
I shall oil him up in your honour.
Praise be to the Weird Alien Cactus.

“A very expensive accident” - all of my warhammer purchases
I know the feeling
Oh same.
Agreed
Checks out
No kidding
Honestly, you're a significantly better painter than I think you give yourself credit for - this series is inspiring for someone who's just getting back into the hobby and has painted very few of the growing collection of models on his shelves
totally agree, his freehand stuff and the fact he can paint eyes is impressive.
Yeah, it's made me feel incredibly self conscious about my painting, and has probably ruined painting for me just as much as the guy in my FLGS that laughs at my models every time I go for a game.

Those 4 seconds of silence at the beginning are oddly disturbing to me.
"and I tied a frog to my belt, as was the style at the time"
I can't see that anyone has written about it, so I'll point out that the frogs are strapped to their legs so the skinks can replenish the toxins for the darts of their blowguns. Another year of painted minis spinning around for us has gone by now
I like how the Iron Halo on the Chaplains kinda leaning forward so it actually looks more like a Halo.
I really love that bronze colour on the scout marines rifles
The Argent Wardens return!
Oh, and where's WOB?
Those new chaos space marines are really my favourite kit from those last couple of years. I have 40 of them now.
I'm not sure why but to me the Flumph looks like something you'd see in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
That red/gold/bronze on the marine weapons looks amazing fab. You raise the bar for us all

Your grots are full of character! The blue on the Chaos Space Marine is bluetiful!
I've only just discovered this series and now watched all of them. Love it Mr Wib. Thanks and well done! :)
Great series! I'm deffo going to try to keep track of miniatures bought VS miniatures painted. Thanks for sharing

I did not know that the naked Custodians were actually like that o_O. Yay skinks.. they're so ancient. I love your retro/roguetrader collection.
Time to binge the playlist again
Such wholesome content as always
You're got some great freehand skills. The Cactus is cool; especially the stippled greens.

Great job on the mini's. Looking forward to what you do in 2021.
That definitely should be the dictionary definition of '2020'.
Your series has inspired me to look at more non GW models, so thanks for that
Your Flumph is adorable Wib!
Very impressive work these months and year! Thanks for taking time out of your schedule to do these videos, they're really inspiring.
What a wonderful thing to wake up to. It's like a tiny Christmas.
I honestly thought that Custodes was an Eldar corsair. Also, who doesn't paint the leather on chaos marines as flayed skin?
Need a holster for your pistol? Flayed skin.
Want a loin cloth? Flayed skin.
What an awesome variety of miniatures! That custode was especially cool to see!!
Awesome work, you had a really productive year! I wish I had gotten as much done as you have...
Does this mean you'll also be working on those sanguinary guard with forgeworld heads from last year? I'd really like to see how those look painted
Would like to see more 15mm stuff! Have you looked into the Ion Age range or the Patrol Angis rules?
Okay, I really like all of your minis, but that Captain? Absolutely love him. Such an amazing use of bits. Love it.
The thing around the Chaplains neck is called a stole.
And if you play Titanicus I will hunt you down and play you. Titanicus is AMAZING.
The Alpha Legion scheme looks good :)
Love your rebel grots
Nice and cool work !
Who is this handsome lad!
He's my father!
Can’t help thinking we should of had a 2021 painting video by now
Wib, your taste in Warhammer armies is very, VERY good.

Really enjoy these videos and helps me to paint more and showcase more on my channel. Look great and have you looked at MENG chibi tanks for grots
Your panel lining and edge highlights on that aircraft are outstanding Wib!
