the fiction gets a bit wonky but in at least somecontuinities go bots aren't actually robots but cyborgs. Which at least partially explains, if not excuses the porn

Those smokestack guns got lost immediately, I know from experience. The trailer got a lot of use outside GoBot scenarios too.

Oh geez, when I saw "Staks" my mind immediately went to the G2 Powermaster "Staxx" (who came out a couple of years after a character called Gobots and the same year as an entire line of Transformers confusingly called Go-Bots, who I have an inexplicable amount of affection for). I really can't decide which is the better/worse rendition of a humanoid robot, Staks or Staxx. Staxx at least has a head, though only half a face, whereas Staks has articulation and that massive chunk of die cast. They're both the kinds of characters teenage me would have delighted in drawing, because however bad your rendition, it can't really wind up being worse than the original.

Your Stacks came with the trailer and the short smoke stacks. The version without the trailer has blue plastic instead of black plastic and came with a set of long smoke stacks.

So, would you call his robot design Eyes Without a Face? Eh? Eh? *Sighs*... I'll see myself out

I LOVE the Super Gobots and have a selection, from Throttle and Spay-C to Raizor and Psycho. There is something endlessly charming about the 'cockpit head' subline and Baron Von Joy should be in everyones collection..... for the name alone!

If I recalll correctly, according to the lore, GoBots are cyborgs. They were once humanoid aliens who merged with machines after some kind of catastrophe.

You should watch Revenge of Chronos. It's a Kung Fu revenge western with transforming kung fu robots and a kung fu android who uses a magic sword to summon nesting robot armor x2. The bad guys are mainly biological or cyborgs with a gestalt team of robot monsters.

I have a soft spot for Gobots. Shure, it wasn't as good as Transformers, but the cartoon was a show that actually had several prominent female characters on both sides of the conflict. Crasher's sadistic laugh has lived rent-free in my head since I was a wee baby. ...that may actually explain quite a bit...

Gobots are my Retro collection line and I love Staks. Fortunately mine has his Guns/Smokestacks. Goofy but very charming is a good summation of most of the figures.

With his "facial" expression, he would make a wonderful "fastidious silly guy robot" in a sci-fi movie, like C3PO or the one from Lost In Space. ❤ His catchphrase would be: "Oh bother!"

They were just mechs in machine robo, minus the monster go-bots whom were just giant monster creatures that look like that.

Very welcome. I don't know I ever remember the smokestack/guns. I certainly don't recall the blue transporter. He always rattled though. You are also correct he was played with a bunch. Good to see him getting a moment in the youtube spotlight.

I'd watch the living daylights out of a series reviewing the lore and implementation of things like Masters of the Universe, Sectaurs, Battle Beasts et al, and Codex Compliant proves he's got the expertise to do it.

I have MechFansToys Bumblebee which is also a dirt cheap KO of..... something else. It's actually not bad. Not perfect, but not bad. Oh, and I have Dream Star Toys Silverbolt, which has its name on the box as.... Silverbolt. They just did not care.... about that toy in general.

Oh wow, I forgot about the DX9 series. Wild to think that it's now something of a retro figure in the very niche place of third- party Legends scale transforming robot toys.

It's good to know even someone really into Transformers isn't aware of a lot of Transformers releases. I've just recently decided I'd like to have a couple of small plastic transforming robot boys, and was immediately confused by the insane quantity of third party knock offs, store exclusives, rereleases, different scales... I just want a Soundwave! Where is the "Buy Soundwave" button!? I have many complaints about the way GW does business, but at least if I want to put a small Marneus Calgar on my shelf they let me do that pretty easily.
