and it was still nothing comapered to the sound from the late 90's. @@Spyker8921 RedBull still ran with a less effective version in 2012, they were the only team to have a combination of double DRS and exhaust angle to have a blown diffuser running in 2012 albeit much less powerful than the year prior. They took advantage of teams protesting the complete ban of off-throttle mapping and the FIA allowing this to continue but with less force than 2011. Teams protested the complete outlaw of off throttle maps under the guise of protecting engines (not sure how they convinced them of that), so what little room remained was thoroughly exploited by RedBull in conjunction with the aforementioned combination of double DRS and the exhaust being angled and located as far rearwards as the regulations would allow. That sound is unreal never been to monaco but been to Silverstone and Donnington and to hear that sound in Monaco is totally mind blowing we need that sound back
@@m1co294 I went to the last three US GPs at COTA. The two seat, F1 experience cars were the best sounding of the entire weekend. I believe they have V10 engines
I can't not imagine what a full grid of the v10s would have sounded like. Heard an old Minardi go around Melbourne and it was deafening. Now times that by 24.
F1: They go as soon as the lights go out and they rush into turn one. Then there's silence. You might hear a few birds chirp (idk what you'd here in Monaco) beeping of cars, the fans. Then you hear the roar of the engines not too far away. If you had to do something before they passed by you again, you knew you were running out of time. When they rush by, the sound of those engines pierce your chest. NASCAR: It's a small rumble as they approach the restart zone and then a huge roar of all of them as they race to the green flag. It's a little quiet, but you can hear a quiet hum as they rage down the backstretch. When they are in turn 4, you feel a rumble, that small hum is gone. It's like you can't hear the stock cars until hey are 5 feet away from you. The fact that I can see them coming makes me brace for impact. As they pass by, the sound pierces your chest, like in F1. These two sports are brilliant in their own way.
Its a nice writeup for sure, but NASCAR is simply, utterly boring...there is just nothing fascinating about it... not just in terms of sport but also technology even...
Lucky enough to be at that Grand Prix, the sound throughout Monaco was special.. I also done Silverstone that year too.. It's such a shame they don't sound like this anymore!
I'd be happy sitting there just for the sound alone.... not worth it today of course but with the V8s and of course V10s, all day... They were fantastic with the US GP from 2004 and 2007...

Lovely isn't it. These people pay easily 1000 euro's on a Formula 1 visit and they all watch it through their cameras. While there are state of the art cameras everywhere and you can find any shot online after the race. People are quite ''not so smart'' nowadays.

This is sooooo cool. First the spectators wait for the cars to noisily come in from the orientation lap and warm up the tires and the engines. Then the start -- and the #F1 noise is exciting. BUT THEREAFTER all the spectators at this specific spot sit or stand there from 1:35 min. on, and they can hear by the F1 engines whining in the far distance that there is a F-1 race going on in #MonteCarlo, but they can't see it. And they sit and wait there during the 1st lap for the cars to return to them. It's exciting and seemingly takes forever. Anticipation. FINALLY @2:51 min., 1:16 min later, which seems like an eternity, the cars whiningly reappear. And that was merely ONE lap. Now. all these spectators wait for another eternity seeming 1:16 min. for the bolides to reappear. And again, And again. ......
