    Interesting that there's no rice involved. When Malaysians think of Arabic food it usually involves a rice dish - Mendy, Kabsah, etc. But if you think about it.. they don't grow rice in the Arab peninsula, it's all imported from India and Pakistan, so what WAS Arabian cuisine like before they started importing rice? Also, I wonder.. have you ever heard the word "prawn"? 😁 My theory is that the word is unknown (or never used) in North America.. it's always "shrimp". Elsewhere in the English speaking world, they often call them "prawns" instead. Also.. camels. Given that camels use their humps to store energy (or at least, that's what schoolkids are told) is the hump meat more tender and fatty, one wonders... The camels in Pakistan are different that the camels in the UAE - those have two humps instead of one. Baklava - that's one of my favorite foods, but you can't eat too much of it. It's mainly honey and pistachios in filo dough. Everyone around the Eastern Mediterranean (the Turks, the Greeks, the Syrians, the Palestinians, etc.) claims they invented it, much like hummus and lokoum (i.e. Turkish delight). It IS expensive and hard to find, though. One of my fond memories (when I was in college in the US) was doing some work upstairs at the International House, and coming down to find the Greek Students Association just starting their Open House, and they had something like ten huge trays of baklava, just out of the oven. I must've had four or five pieces. The other day I saw an ad on UA-cam - there was someone selling Baklava - six pieces for RM52!! Outrageous!

    • @mohdk2299

      Wheat based foods are traditional Arab cuisine.
      They did use term prawn when eating 'shrimp' in Malaysia.
      Doesn't matter if the camels are different as camel's meats are mainly sourced from Australia.

    • @iskandartaib
      @iskandartaib 3 роки тому

      @@mohdk2299 I think all the camels in Australia are the one hump type (dromedaries) instead of the two hump type (Bactrian camels).
