That's the coolest idea I've seen in awhile 😍
awh thank you! I want to try and find ways to bridge mainstream and indie a bit :D
same
Love this!!
Yes this is so innovative ! ❤It’s really shows why I follow UA-camrs like you who know their products really well!
Edited //
Im just curious which indie palette that would represent beauty bay palettes because I’m looking to try those palettes too :)
Kind of surprised that the Natasha Denona recommendation wasn’t Sydney Grace, but I like Oden’s Eye, as well. Wearable shades with pops of color and the palettes they’ve released are so pretty, perfect for everyday and special occasions.
I actually don't own any of their neutral palettes but I know my friend Karen Harris loves them :D
Sydney Grace is great! 😊
@@AngelicaNyqvist Oh I thought you had tried them, my bad! If you get the chance, their formulas are really nice.
Oh yes! Sydney Grace is so underrepresented in the indie world on youtube.
Same, I swore she was going to say Sydney Grace
I totally think Sydney Grace should be here, too! Charlotte Tilbury quads or neutrals with a twist?! They’re great at that.
This concept is just what I needed! The “no makeup makeup” trend seems to have caused mainstream makeup brands to be either boring or non existent with eyeshadow this year. I have been looking more and more at many of the brands you featured here for my “exciting palette” fix. I am doing a no buy right now, but I will definitely be getting some of these someday. I also want to give Sydney Grace a shout out. Such good quality, and so affordable. And each month, they offer a small curated bundle of products at a really great price!
The recommandation for unearthly is so on point! They have completely replaced melt in my heart and they never disappoint. I’ve just switch to indie over the years (a lot because of Angie’s and Heather’s content) and I’ve never looked back!
❤❤
I miss them as alien cosmetics now there to bundle like. Like I just want the palette not the whole collection
@@sarahwebb2875 what do you mean, youcan buy just the palette from pretty much all their boxes including these last ones?
@AngelicaNyqvist they did bundles for like 70 ish bucks or more with palette, lipsticks and blush in such. Injust wanted the palette. They up the price a lot if there not in bundles there still up there. I have two of there alien palettes when there more affordable. Just saying they jack up the price a lot
@@sarahwebb2875 yeah but they sell just the palette too? From most of their boxes
I'm still daydreaming about the Cold Moon palette from ER.
Here to enable a purchase if you want to hear someone’s thoughts. 😅 It’s so beautiful and I’m glad I bought it. 😊
@@kathleenmoortel5449 LOL this made my day. I have been really wanting to buy it but I cannot justify the price LOL. And I have soooo much makeup.
same
yes! I've never bought a palette priced higher than colourpop but I've been drooling over the Cold Moon palette. so pretty
Hi Angie! Thank you so much for mentioning our brand and for showing your love and support. ❤
Of course!
That Blend Bunny All Done Up palette is fantastic. Who needs the Xenon palette when you have that first column? For special shades like Pat McGrath, I always think of Clionadh. Great multichromes and shimmers without overpaying for black lacquer packaging.
PMG lovers wanting Ensley Reign was right on point.
PMG color stories (or lack of) have had me drooling over ER for months
Wow the makeup with the contrast of the white blouse is STUNNING. I'm usually just a dab-of-bronzer-on-the-lid person but kinda wishing for that kind of skill rn
Thank you for this video. I’ve been watching your channel for about 6 or 7 years now - well before you left Sweden - and I’m so glad I came across your channel back then. There weren’t a lot of channels reviewing indie brands like you. There were a few who would feature them here and there but not NEARLY to the extent that you were (and are) doing it. So, I appreciate you and your channel because there’s so many brands making great makeup that I wouldn’t have known otherwise.
Loved the look today, btw! 💜
Awh thank you so much, I still love discovering wonderful indie products :D
I still own the Jackie Aina palette! I love this palette to death! You can get so many looks glam, natural, neutral, and just about any look you looking for colorful or neutral matte or shimmer it’s got it all!
I do try to check out indies. It is hard, though, with the price of international shipping that a lot of the American indie charges. I tried to buy the other day, and shipping was double the price of the palette. I understand that it is out of their control most of the time, so no hard feelings. But it is the main factor I consider when choosing. Blend bunny for example has very expensive shipping to where I live, almost the same cost as the palette.
Also, thank you, Angie, so much for mentioning a couple of indie options that not all are from the U.S.
A lot of indie brands do have international stockist, so do ask them where they stock their products to find a good place to shop :)
I always forget about stockists. Thanks Angie!
Same here! I tried to buy a palette from them the other day and did not in the end because of the shipping cost. Too bad. I love their color stories.
@@AngelicaNyqvist Also true, but from my personal experience, being from Europe, but not the damned EU, if I try to buy from the European based stockists, they are mostly only EU based and ship only to the EU countries. Which, why? Love being the second grade citizen of the world. They do not even want to take your money, hahaha
@andmoreagain7 have you tried Lethal Cosmetics? I live outside of the EU and even though their offices are in Berlin, they ship worldwide with decent shipping prices. I ordered several times from them and love their formulas! I have the same issues with shipping from the US to where I live
I love this concept! I myself prefer to support indie brands as opposed to the mainstream, so this helped me to narrow down what products and company to look into. Please keep this going, it would be cruel to take this series away from us 😂
This idea is so great, loved this video so much
Thank you so much!!
Oooh I love this video idea! 😮 Thank you for the amazing recommendations Angie. Now if only Australian stores did a better job at acquiring indie brands because the postage is craaaazy expensive for most!
I think some of these brands are available at like Glam Raider :)
Can’t find them in stores in USA either, and yep, shipping hurts.
Glaminatrix, the indie brand Angie recommended if you like ABH, is based in Australia!
Wish Kaleidos would do more of their quads, love them.Sydney Grace is a good Indie brand for neutrals and she's always inclusive of different skin tones. Love Ensley Reign but they're not the same quality as Pat McGraft's eye shadows. Great Indie alternatives!
Sydney Grace for neutrals. The mattes are amazing. The shimmers are more glimmery than bold, at least in the palette I have, but their so nice.
I really like this video! I would also recommend Sydney Grace for neutral-lovers looking for indie quality.
That's a good one too! I don't own any of their neutral palettes but I know my friend Karen Harris loves them :D
That rainbow eye is fabulous 🌈✨
This is a brilliant idea. Thank you for all the “alternative” suggestions 🧡
I would never have heard of indie brands if it weren’t for UA-camrs. I’m grateful because it always delivers the punch I was looking for and now it’s the only shadow I want.
The eye look today is *AMAZING*
This video idea is GENIUS. I have my appreciation for some mainstream palette releases, but indie eyeshadow color stories are truly top notch. I’m a happy clown too, but I think it’s great that indie brands are now creating more neutral-leaning options to be more approachable.
On another note, my Cosmic Beauty Winter Wonderland palette is on the way, and I’m super excited 🩵
Thanks!! 🫶🏼
For someone like me who has no clue where to start, it was sich a helpful thing to hear ❤❤❤
Love this idea! I'm surprised not to see Sydney Grace. I don't really shop indie other than the GlossGods palettes you recommended a while back (I wanted to try multichromes) & black-owned brands (Ace Beauty, Coloured Raine & Mented, not sure if Uoma and Juvia's Place count).
I started going Indie in 2019 because of Angie. I love Oden's Eye(have all 3 Angie palettes ). Just got Ensley Reigns's "Groovy Garden". I love their matte formula.
Amazing concept, Angelica! Du är kanoners! 🙂
Åh tack :D
Oh, Ensley Reign is of gorgeous quality! I would love to try Adept one day, too.
Here is hoping that the winter wonderland will still be in stock when I get paid at the beginning of the next month... Bumped out and missed out on ultra Violet
This was a perfect video for me. First, I adore you. Second, I’m dipping my toes into more colorful eyeshadow. Thanks! ❤
That makes me so happy :D
This was super interesting! I love both abh and glaminatrix. I am a neutral lover, and I really want that blend bunny palette you showed. I just tried the oden's eye stone pallette and was super impressed with their quality. I'm planning on picking up Amy's collab as my 1st adept purchase. I'm enjoying dipping my toes into indie brands.
Great idea for a video! Sometimes to save $$$ on shipping it can be good to find a brand from your geographic region too. If you don't live somewhere close to a social media hyped brand, there can be indie brands based near you who can supply your fun colours or wear-to-work staples that don't take ages to arrive or cost a fortune to post to you. Love the eye looks! :)
This was such a great video. Sometimes people want to try new things but don’t know where to start and this video really helped. The way you explained similarities in color preferences and shimmery shadows was excellent! This was a very well put together video and refreshing to watch
Glad it was helpful! :D
I agree totally with your thoughts. I have ventured out into indie land this year. I am loving the hourney even though im a neutral girlie. Love my Ensley Reign Cold Moon pallet. I got the Odens Eye mystery box and recieved the Stone and Rock pallet, absolute love. Thank you Angie. Even though we are vastly different in our esthetics, i value your opinion🥰
This is making me want to use my Blend Bunny All Done Up Palette and my Cosmic Brushes Muse Palette. They both have some of my favorite eyeshadow formulas. I actually love my PMG palettes for the metallics and satins. The “special shades” for me are not always what I am looking for.
I think this is a great idea! I just began dipping my toes in indie brands this past year- and I don’t know if I’ll ever purchase mainstream eyeshadow palettes again!!!
As someone who is just getting into indie brands this is fantastic!
It's a testament to Cosmic beauty that when I went on the site just now any palette I looked at that I might be interested in is out of stock! They must be good! Nobody ever talks about them though! Thank you for another awesome video Angie!!❤
They are amazing. Some of my favorite palettes. Blend Bunny and Cosmic Brushes are my two faves.
I was placing guesses for the recommendations as you went, and I was able to guess most! I think this was a great concept for a video. The way you balanced a bold rainbow eye look with a crisp white shirt and slicked straight hair was *chef’s kiss* ☺️
This was a really great concept for a video, Angie! 😍 I would love to see you do a similar video that offers suggestions for (more) affordable alternatives to high-end eyeshadow palettes/ makeup Please & thank you 😉💙
vou have done a magnificent job on all these products! Thank you so much, Angie
I love this series. I think it helps me think of indies in ways I hadn't before. Like Dollhouse, now I need it. Though to me on stuff like the Ensleigh Reign (sp) the special shimmers tend to all look extremely similar.
I’ve tried a few of these palettes after seeing them on here, Blend bunny dollhouse and cosmic brushes muse…are my favs
What a great idea, and what beautiful recommendations! Also love the super classic outfit and hair and then the burst of color on the eyeshadow
I have many indie palettes! The formula is so much better then many of the big Brands!
Angie, your video recommending Indie is incredibly clever and much needed! Thank you for consistently shining a light on Indie Brands and staying true to your core audience.
Such a great and fresh video!!! Loving it! And honestly, nothing to add. The Indie companies are so amazing! With mattes and gorgeous shimmers and multichromes 😍🤩❤
I have a little over 200 eyeshadow palettes but Yucca is my FAVORITE! I just hit pan on calathea! ND has my favorite mainstream formula! Hot take: ND is WAY better than PMG!! (Still love PMG though! 😂)
Great video, very helpful. The first indie brand I tired was Oden’s Eye, last year’s Christmas palettes. This year I tried their mystery box. I received Batty Bean’s palette, the Stone and Rock, and your Trick or Treat palette! They are good quality and I’ve been enjoying them
I feel like I just sat through a college level eye shadow class in the very best way possible! TFS! 💜
What a creative idea! Love your comparisons.
Angie, thanks for sharing such a thoughtful and helpful video! I appreciate the time you put into this. Ensley Reign is an indie brand I'd like to try next. 💛💛💛
I like your rainbow eyelook!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
I like supporting Indie brands and have enjoyed my purchases from Cosmic Brushes and Blend Bunny. Both are great quality. I just ordered the Lure palette using your code. I am not a fan of large palettes and usually prefer 6 or 9 pan palettes. I also prefer palettes that are matte heavy and have lots of light and medium shades with only one or 2 dark shades. Fun video idea. Personally, I am not a fan of PMG color stories although the formula is great - too many shimmers and color stories that don't appeal to me. If I am going to splurge on a more expensive palette, I prefer the 5 pan Dior Palettes.
I own a lot of PMG palettes and only two Ensley Reign palettes Cold Moon n Groovey Garden and I love the two Ensley reign ones a lot more then the PMG palettes the special shades make me smile just looking at them and mattes are beautiful and blend like a dream
I got 3 pallets from Cosmic Brushes and they are unreal. I can't get enough of this iredecent shade in bottom left corner in oceanic palette. So pretty 😍 I wouldn't discovered them if not your yearly favourites video.
I used your code for Oden eyes mystery boxes and I got both of your Halloween pallets 😅 they are very pretty but I have no idea what to do with those orange tones on my cool tone complexion 🙈😅
Oh my, so many lovely palettes ❤ I have LOVED the Trick Or Treat palette (I got it in the mystery box), it inspires me to do new looks every day 🥰
Love these informative videos! They are always so helpful! It’s nice to see Indie brands get their flowers and see how they compare to mainstream brands!❤
I LOVE THIS IDEA! Would love to see this for each category of makeup!
Great video! I always choose indie eyeshadows over mainstream unless its a cool color story like the yucca by ND. Indie eyeshadows have my heart and my wallet apparently 😂🙈
I'm surprised you didn't compare ABH pallette to Sigma. But loved the recommendations!!🎉🎉
Great video! I’ve tried all of these brands, and this seems pretty accurate to me. I don’t regret purchasing the Pat McGrath palettes I own, but unless something changes radically with the company, I won’t be purchasing more eyeshadow from PM. There doesn’t seem to be any innovation coming from that brand anymore. Ensley Reign does excite me. I only have one palette so far, but I definitely want more.
I really enjoyed this video! I had fun playing guess which indie brand Angie is going to pair with the mainstream brand lol.
For the most part your recommendations have been hits for me. This going to be the year I finally try Unearthly, Blend Bunny, and Cosmic Brushes. 🎉 Awesome video 💜
This list is great. I would say if people like Natasha Denona, Lunar Beauty might be a great indie brand to try too. Manny loves his neutrals, but the quality is always excellent.
Love this video idea! And your eye look is stunning!
I bought both of your collab palettes from Odens Eye. I absolutely love them!
Brilliant video concept. Love this!
I like both neutral and colorful makeup . My preference is warm undertones though , and some of the comparisons fall flat for that reason. ND tends towards warm palettes / undertones for much of her line . I have several from ND . I have the BB All Done Up and it’s probably the warmest of her whole line but my socks are not blown off . Her green row leans cool and so there’s mmm one or two of the columns that I’d say are actual warm undertone . Kaleidos I have some of the old school stuff ( futurism greens, bronze, turquoise, Nebula and flower punk and escape pod ) those mix it up more . The new quads tend to the cool side . Meh . Not inspired to spend money on it.
Charlotte T seems to tend towards a terracotta / rose undertone for quite a lot . I have one palette of hers and like it . Her quads are $$$ but I could probably see myself wearing them more than the Kaleidos ones. I don’t doubt the quality on their quads , the base tones just are uninteresting . Not really loving fabric packaging either. Very messy if it’s a daily use palette that a quad or blush is likely to be.
Wow it’s so rare to see an original idea on you tube!! Love it 🎉❤
Just loved this video. I never thought Pat McGrath is worth the money. But I was very curious about the special shades. Now I know of another option with more interesting color stories.
Great video Angie! I exclusively purchase indie eye shadows. I did mainstream for the longest time. But, a few years ago I found you and Heather and a bunch of others. I started buying indie and I haven’t looked back since!
I love this eyelook soooooo much!!! You're stunning Angie!! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🩷
More please! I'd love to have more direct to try more indie products!
Thanks for this! I’ve been looking into asking for an indie palette for Mother’s Day and I’m not even sure where to begin because there’s so many brands! I find mainstream palettes to be so boring anymore. I need another neutral palette like I need a hole in my head.
Love this eye look 0:25
Fantastic video, i totally agree with everything you said Angie. I turned to indie about 3 years ago and I've never looked back. I only mainstreame brand i buy from now is ND. Indie just fills my creative need 😊
Love a good purple [blue toned not red toned] eyeshadow with blue mascara!! 💜💙
This is such a great and innovative video concept! Love it, Angie! 🤩
All you said makes total sense, I know all these brands and I can see how much thought you put into this video, so great for indie newbies, amazing idea 💜
Not me seeing you hold up the Blend Bunny Lure palette thinking that is a beautiful palette I should get it and then five seconds later realizing I already have it in my collection 😂😂
Wooow I love this idea, I needed help hahaha
I'm so glad!
Very much agreed on the PMG and Adept
Fun and helpful video! Also, your eyelook is to die for! 🌈
This was fantastic 🔥🔥🔥 thank you
This is sooo smart! Cant wait to watch this❤
I love this video so much. I have been dipping my toe into indie brands because of your recommendations and I have not been disappointed. Thank you!
I bought afew unearthly palettes but didn’t realize that several colors in each palette are not made for the eyes and they are the best colors in the palettes. So kind of a bummer there! Very good formula just wish I could wear all the colors on my eyes. My favorite indie brand is blend bunny! Thanks for making this video, loved it❤
Its because the pigments are vegan. In most parts of the world they are considered eye safe, the FDA are just a bit behind. Id suggest googling this a bit more :)
I love this concept. I’ll hope you can expand on it? Part II eyeshadow or other makeup? Thanks for sharing!
I am so excited to get the cosmic brushes wonderland palette.
This is was such great idea!!!!! You really were the first person I watched that hyped indie and I never turned back!!! :)
Fantastic idea. Very clever and useful for those who wish to try Indie brands.
Great idea for a video! ❤❤❤ Re Pat McGrath, @seekingshifts did side by side comparisons for PMG and Natasha Denona with indie shadows about a year ago... I have a lot of Ensley Reign and all the other indie brands you mentioned, but I still have not found a dupe for Pat's astral shades. Maybe there are some Clionadh or Terra Moons sins or Karla Kosmetics dusts out there, but I find singles too expensive to order without trying first. Palettes work out cheaper per shade and there is a higher likelihood you will like something. But would love to hear some suggestions on pmg astral dupes!
These palettes are so lovely!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊
I wish unearthly cosmetics and Ensley reign would find a stockist in Australia 😭 I so want that cold moon palette. So glad that blend bunny now has a stockist here. Indie blows mainstream out of the water!!
What an intuitive video! I loved it! I was never into indie brands until you made me fall in love with them! I have now been uninspired by the big cosmetic companies as I find them all so boring and look to the indie brands for some excitement and fun in makeup! I was surprised that some how you missed Nomad but I understand
that you were drawing some
comparisons! Great job Angie really enjoyed this video! 💙🫶🫶
Very impressive and beautiful eye look--it demonstrates your high level of skill!
I just got engaged and am starting to find my wedding day full proof makeup. I wanted to know, do you still stand by the choices you made for you wedding makeup? If not, what would you choose today?
