As a sci-fi lover, the more I look at the palette design, the more I love it.
You pointed out the two middle columns clash with each other, and those are the robot and human sides. It plays well into the thematic conflict of cutthroat efficiency/logic vs humanity seen in sci-fi. It also seems very relevant with AI & increasing use of robots in previously human jobs.
And it might just be me, but I love how ethereal it looks from the outside with the ugly inside. It reminds me of dystopian societies that seem perfect but are later revealed as flawed.
Million percent agree, I **love** the unexpected invitation to do something...unexpected.
I was so excited when I saw the packaging and I was expecting cool tone blues, purples, greens. I was surprised when the color story was so different from the cover. I'm still tempted to get because I love the brand. But trying to tell myself that I don't need every palette a brand releases, especially since I like the palette more than actual color story.
I was very intrigued by the outside as well, thinking that if the inside looked like that, it might be my first purchase from her. But this is unexpectedly jarring to look at for me.
I love blend bunny and I want it just for that so I see what you mean, but it’s just not the color story I was hoping for so it’s tough to do, but I’ll have to pass
I have everything from the brand but this one is a pass... Maybe on sale?

Call me odd, but I find a palette like this PERFECT for travel. You can make multiple monochromatic looks or get creative with it. I love bringing just one or two palettes with me for a week or more, but I need to have options. The BB formula has never done me wrong either.
Like many ppl I was expecting a more cooler color story, but then I thought that the Lure palette was cool and vibrant, so she'll probably try something different. But the packaging definitely throws you off, had she made the foliage neutral-warm/warm, it would have complimented the inside more. I agree with all that you said. Edit: The pink column and blue column goes with the flowers, and the 2nd column with the robot. However, the foliage and overall coolness it adds, throws it off. It doesn't have to be all matchy-matchy, but I can see how it causes a dissonance. I agree with the 3 columns, split in 2 sets.
Another edit, bc I lack self-control and can't shut up: I just realized she said these are romantic Sci-Fi shades and I definitely see that concept.
Maggie described the concept of this palette perfectly in one of her Instagram posts - "The machine glitched into human." To me, I see the two right columns as the machine colors, the two middle columns are the glitchy colors, and the last two left columns are the human colors - so I think it makes perfect sense that the two middle columns feel somewhat out of place, somewhat uncomfortable, before they settle into the romantic human shades. I think it's cool that you caught onto that. Love your understanding of color and color combinations! This palette is not for me because I already have the BB Primal palette and that's enough rainbow for me, but I think the color story is spot on for the theme of the palette!
I think if the palette background color was white instead of black, it would be less jarring. The matte black blends in with the background and the matte grey barely stands out. I think that's part of why some people feel it is not pleasant to look at.
Personally this is one of my favorite blend bunny releases! I also like how she kept monochromatic columns but flipped the side the shimmer was on for each column. Adds some variety for those bored of the same layout in each palette, while also keeping happy customers who preferred the monochromatic organization.
Your vest should’ve been on the cover of that palette it matches it way more 😅
Totally feel the same regarding the outside vs inside color stories being different, and how the color story inside is hard to look at. It’s funny how just covering one of the middle rows does help… excited to see what you cook up! 🌈💖
I disagree, I love the palette, but I respect your opinion ! I love the fact she did this with her pops and totally understand the led lights and what they were inspired by. It's so sweet. ❤

I want brands to take notes from Blend Bunny and Whats Up Beauty. Their design game is top tier this autumn. 😩👌 Ever since I saw the inside it reminded me of Wilderness palette from Beautybay. Now that I saw swatches I dare to say it’s Wilderness 2.0 extended edition with refined undertones and bigger variety of shades but in the core it’s still Wilderness (red-green-blue). It looks lovely and I love the shades they chose because I can see how well they compliment each other but I still have to be real and admit that I have similiar colourstory in my collection already. I survived Black friday I can hold a little bit longer.

One of the most versatile palettes I have come across. In color story and how this works for every season- I love the tones of this and the few shimmers chosen, very nicely done.

Beautiful look Angie. For me, the palette inst different enough from her others for me to purchase it, and there are so many new releases that have just come out and are still being revealed that I feel are more intriguing color stories, but yes, you did a beautiful look!
I totally agree with your thoughts, I was shocked to see it’s another rainbow palette since I was expecting the colors to be like the cover. I also think it’s tough to look at. Disappointing but I appreciate her vision.

I thought the same thing when I saw inside; it's jarring to look at. For me it's that green row that completely throws me off. Even if it was cooler greens it would make more sense to me. So sad about her losing her father, and I'm glad she's happy with it. That blue shimmer is absolutely stunning! Oh and the pastel blue WAS a good idea :D
I was disappointed that the color story did not match my excitement from when i saw the outer packaging.. i will probably still get it but i was expecting more...
Same, I hoped for something jewel tones, with some rich, deep tones and then the metallic colors from the machine idea🙈 that was at least what I expected, and because I wanted that, my whole body just wants to find a palette that fits it🤦🏽♀️🙃

Such a pretty look! I 100% agree with you about how the color story of the packaging doesn't match the color story of the eye shadows. And unfortunately for me I absolutely love the color story of the outside packaging, but am not the hugest fan of the inside. I just doesn't appeal to me. So a pass for me, but I am happy to hear that it's the same great Blend Bunny formula because I truly do love Blend Bunny palettes.
I was so thrilled when she discovered the theme. And then I saw the colorstory and it was meh. I don't mind it does not reflect the cover it is just how many oranges, reds and purples do we really need.
And the olivey greens
I don’t know why but this palette looks just like Surge. So it makes sense that Surge is being discontinued. The look you created is fun, though. I am glad I don’t super want this since I’m needing to take a break from all the spending come Black Friday. The person who I also really want to see be creative with this is Annette from Annette’s Makeup Corner. She always is super original with her ideas, too.

Agreed on outside vs inside not being the best combo. I'm also glad they went back to the gradients, but in a unique way. It's really what draws me to using the blend bunny pallets over others some mornings, cause thinking can be hard that early in the day and there's plenty of predetermined looks to be had, lol. But I absolutely love your ability to look at a pallet and put together an unexpected look and have it look amazing!

I agree with what you say at the beginning. I was so hoping the green shades would be like on the cover, that's stunning with those purples, magentas. So at first sight I was disappointed and also felt like there was something jarring. Cyborg is gorgeous though. And your look is beautiful, I'm just not sure I can pull it off. If I have to choose between two rainbow palettes, maybe Wicked Widow's Resurrection is a better pick for me. Aaah, I so wanted to love this one though! But it's not 100% at this point.

I think the color story is spot on what Maggie was trying to convey, however it's just not appealing to me. I definitely appreciate how well thought out it is and the tribute to her father though ❤

Yeah, the two middle rows are a bit off but weirdly the more I look at it the more I feel drawn to it like I really want to use tat red orange bright shade with some of the greens and it’s not even my colour it just somehow feels so wrong that it’s so unique and fun about this palette.
That quality looks stellar, like even better than I already know BlendBunny is! The color story doesn’t speak to me but I see where she was going with this. No hate, just not for me
The combination You came up with is soooo original. It's really inspiring. When this palette came out I thought to myself I don't really need it. I have all of the palettes from Blend Bunny apart from this one and the Sickle Sweet one, but now I'm considering getting Machina.

I think you nailed it with how it's not pleasing to look at. I can't quite put my finger on it but I absolutely hate this color story. I am also not a fan of the layout. I'm just left completely uninspired - which probably has my wallet singing.

This look shows how versatile the palette actually is. I wonder if instead of just the pastel blue on the bottom, if a coat of Cyborg on top of it would have made an extra pop? I love the packaging so much and the theme and that it’s a project with her dad who passed away…but I will say the inside isn’t what I’d expected. I was kinda hoping for more of a color story like that new einsley reign one, the enchanted one, but with a little bit more mid and dark tones. That’s okay, not everything has to be for me and I’ll save a little money for maybe their next release. Love the video though! Excellent as always Angie!

I almost feel like it is 2 palettes in one? The blue-grey-green side is beautiful together, and the reddish-purple-pink side is beautiful, but all together it isn’t very harmonious. I do still like it, and adore Blend Bunny’s formula, but I may not pick it up.
OW I loooove your look. It's funny because I really enjoy the difference between the packaging and the inside, I really see this as an allegory of AI's vision of human world: something close but that would never be perfect. I really enjoy everything of this palette and I can't wait to get mine :)

I agree with you on the packaging not matching the inside I was a bit disappointed. I think having the green and red next to each other is not the most pleasing to the eye and I agree it would look better with one out. Ideally for me I would take out the pink and red rows bc I think it would look better with the purple, gray, blue and green.

While this is a really pretty color story, I agree that it came so close and then missed. I honestly feel like my Colourpop Lost in Wonderland 12 pan palette fits better. I get the grungy aspect of sci-fi here, but maybe I don't know WHAT I was expecting.
Also, I LOVE that you choose looks that "aren't like most UA-camrs" because you really show the versatility of palettes. You make all colors wearable and accessible!
I did the EXACT same thing when trying to like the palette: I covered up the orange row and then the green row. Still didn’t excite me, though the palette cover had me very excited! I’d love to buy that iridescent shimmer topper in the corner by itself.
Personally I do see shades that are present in the cover. We have the pinks, greens, purples for the flowers and then blues and greys for the machine. A perfect blend of nature and technology.

I think the palette would look less awkward if the red and green rows weren’t next to each other. I think the grey or blue row could have been in the middle next to the red and it would have looked more aesthetic. The red and green rows next to each other create too much contrast to the eye and make it difficult to look anywhere else. I also would have loved to see more colors from the palette on the cover, to better marry the two. Machina’s cover art fits better with Blend Bunny’s Lure color story to me. Other than that, I love the concept and understand how challenging this color story was to the owner. I imagine she may be disappointed to put so much work and time and emotion into this palette and it isn’t as highly valued to consumers as her other palettes. But I know she put her heart and soul into this, so the quality is going to be the s tier, and I love the colors in the palette. Blend Bunny has the best matte formula out there and I am a die hard fan. I’ll definitely be picking this up.
Finally got to finish your video... And while I agree that something about the palette makes it not super pretty to look at, I also agree that it's something with those middle rows... However... The look you did came out GORGEOUS! But I can't pull off blues like you can! 💚🩵💚🩵💚

I agree that the outside doesn't totally match the inside, but your look along with Karen Harris's look both fit perfectly with the theme and advertising related to this launch. I think this color story is growing on me.
