Dan’s Story
I started my furniture restoration business thinking I would be a small shop and hoped to keep the lights on. We focused on a quality product and accepting the challenges that each piece had. My son Arthur came to help with the work and added skills and talented we needed.
“It will never leave my shop until it is good enough to brag about”(and I like to brag).
Every time we repair something it keeps it out of the landfill and keeps another tree from being cut down to replace it.
The more we share our knowledge the more times this happens.
We work on all types of pieces, from brand new pieces damaged in shipping to antiques that are hundreds of years old.
We will try and post weekly depending on the work we have.
If you can subscribe, like, comment, share(any or all) you will help us with this project.

I’m going to be honest, I never envisioned my business developing into where we are today.
We have 2 shops, we have worked for museums, rock stars, actors, athletes and were asked to consult on the Queen Mary.
I have my customers to thank for this success and the way we show our appreciation is by giving you back the best we have in us.
I can’t remember my customer’s name or face but when I ask them about the piece I restored for them I can recall every detail about the project.
We have sifted though personnel looking for the people that are natural craftsmen, artisans or just to stubborn to give up until they Get it Right!
This has created a team and attitude that has tremendous pride in the work they do.
Thanks for your time and attention

great!
Thanks!
Nice work Dan. I live close to Mohawks factory so I went to their class. Learned a lot about all the different products they offer. They have a lacquer aerosol can called perfect blend that is made for using on finished pieces. It's nice because you can touch up the lacquer with the aerosol without having halos or new lacquer marks. If you haven't tried it , you might give it a go.
Hello,
Thanks for watching.
We use the perfect blend on repairs and are very happy with it.

My table has ridges. How do you add them back?
I would build the moldable putty up and while it was still soft carve them in and after it hardens fine tune the look with sandpaper.
You can also drag ridges in the soft putty with a fork, comb, wire brush
Just have to find a similar profile.
Hope that helps!

Thank you for this!! Would this also work on chipboard/particle board? My dog chewed the bottom corner of a jewelry armoire that I hate to throw away.
Yes it should work on Particle board, I have used the same technique on it.
Best of luck!
My dog chewed my legs on my 1800 Era lion feet furniture. How can I carve lion feet again?
I would make some paper tracings and use them to transfer the shape.
Slowly build up the moldable to make the shape and sand it smooth after it hardens.
Not hard to do, if it looks bad just sand back down a little and go again.
You can wet your fingers with water and shape the moldable when it soft like clay.
I have a video coming out this week showing touch up coloring that might help.
Subscribe and hit the notifications bell to see when it comes out.
Best of luck!
Did you stain this to match?
Yes we refinished the whole piece so color was part of the finishing process, it doesn't take stain well so needs to be touched up.
We use Mohawk Powders for touch up.
This video shows how

Would this work on a windowsill that was chewed by my dog?
The trim is MDF. I’ve heard wood filler won’t work on MDF
If it is MDF i would use superglue on it first and let it soak in and dry. That should harden it enough for the moldable to bind to it.
Thanks so much for watching!

What are your thoughts on this epoxy vs what I see people using , Bondo. Is it essentially the same, or is there a difference that make this your preference?
I use both, I feel the epoxy is stronger and will hold up better it the repair is an exposed corner that can be kicked or hit with a vacuum, sometimes I use the epoxy to start and bondo to finish the small areas.
But if my dog does it again, wouldn’t want him eating epoxy
