Please watch on a HDR capable Screen. I recorded the HDR part with brightness 80 and contrast on default. It seems this is the closest setting to SDR.

There's no way that anyone watches this and think that sdr actually looks like this. The greenish grey borders on top of the green washed out picture is a dead giveaway of either a bad capture or deliberate sabotage for engagement purposes.

I'm a fan of this channel but I noticed that too. It looks like there was only an HDR capture that was then converted to Rec.709 in post, NOT actually captured in SDR from the game.

@@AlbertStewart Yeah and the HDR side just looks like it was recorded in the dramatic contrast mode setting because that setting darkens the shadows

OP even said he increased brightness of hdr side to 80 to match overall brightness of sdr. hdr is clearly superior when implemented well as in this case.

SDR footage is displayed in the wrong gamma, it should be converted from sRGB to pure power 2.2 for parity.

heres a thought, i dont see much difference and yes i have 1100 nit hdr display mini led and oled one. i love hdr myself, but more i see of it and watch is it not same as sdr just brightness settings changed, like couldnt u tune sdr to look same as hdr? i mean obv theres differences but is it so much u need pay 1000s more for good hdr? i mean all i see it do is make dark darker brighter brighter in wicxh u could do in sdr... ray tracing however is a total change of image and lighting, idk what im trying to say... i have great hdr screens and i love em but sometimes feel like am i really seeing better or have i trauined my mind to see it look better cause i spents 1000s

The more you pay, the better HDR you get. But the LG C series is a great starting point for the fact that it is a "budget" OLED that has great HDR, even if it's not 1500 nits.

@@djbpresents9584 It's not a screen issue, but it's still a fact the 0 nits of an OLED and individually lit pixels does a fantastic job of HDR, and then from there it's about how bright you can go.
From there, it's not a display issue but an issue of not appreciating the detailed subtlety of HDR, which is fair because it's difficult to quantify without being told what to look for which can also cause it to be undervalued.
Also, poor HDR calibration can make things look washed out.

HDR includes a much broader color space not just contrast, most games have DCI-P3 which is a big improvement over SDR already with some even featuring Rec. 2020 which is just breathtaking combined with life-like highlights.

It looks fantastic to me on an LG C1 OLED display with the default contrast setting and brightness set to 60, peak Nits set to 797 and paper white set to approximately 300/600.

You display may accept an hdr signal but a lot of displays aren’t suitable for good hdr. If it lacks any local dimming or isn’t an oled it won’t look too good.
