I agree, thanks to this story telling i cant wait to see how it unfolds in expansion. The cutscene was just really frigging amazing. And no, not your typical good blizzard cutscene, this one is just amazing.
@@NegZer0 Yep, Blizz should just exit the gaming industry altogether. It is shameful how far they've fallen since their glory days back in the early 2000s.
This cutscene gave me chills especially when Inarius calls to the heavens and is met with silence. His madness is truly felt through the performance. I just wish there were more cutscenes and boss battles in the game. Cue many expansions.
@@OnyxAvalon - He's an Archangel. But he is weaker than those on the council. He is a slightly above average angel (an archangel). He's also tortured for who knows how long and mentally insane.
I think we all knew it wouldn't end well for Inarius, but it really was a chilling moment. Imagine that realization, that horror - that everything Inarius had put his hope in was wrong. He could not bring about his own redemption. Even if he actually finished off Lilith, he probably still would've been met with Heaven's silence...
How the fuck did they manage to create such a realistic look in Lilith's eyes when she said 'And our son?' You can genuinely feel the sadness and pain in a demon's eye.
Inarius' dying scream chilled me to the bone. He was probably in a huge amount of physical pain, but that was a scream of absolute despair from a damned soul no longer able to deny the truth of Lilith's words' and truly grappling with the knowledge of its ruin for the first time.
Shock as well. He knew of the prophecy that he would drive Lilith through with a spear, and assumed that to mean that he killed her, not realizing it was only implied.
@@masonmcconnell9375it would be great but it would cost far too much money. Especially if it became a flop of a series. I believe this one cinematic cost more than the actual made game that's how much unreal engine cinematics cost.
When Inarius told Lilith he killed their son to satisfy the heavens, she asked "tell me...did they rejoice? No?" Oof!! the voice actor and actress in this scene understood the assignment
Such an epic scene, the entrance of Inarius was badass just appearing, then floating down in the middle of all those demons like they didn't exist. And Lilith so graceful and laid back.
When Lilith say's 4:36 "And our son?" Then sighs after Inarius's expected answer, you know you have a true sympathetic, flawed but powerful Mother villain. Pawns or not in her scheme to claim Hatred's essence, she had a form of love for Rathma and the world they originally created. She just couldn't get a stubborn Angel by nature to accept what they have done together. Truly a great tragic end and realization that he was beyond redemption, which made it oh so much better.
Lilith didn't love Rathma. He was a means to an end same as Inarius. Watch her "mourn" when she takes the key from Rathma's body and keeps talking about herself. Lilith is a demon first and foremost and can only love herself and her schemes. But there are so many in the comment section who worship Lilith almost on the same level as the cultists we kill every day in the game. Lilith said it herself, she wasn't there to save anybody - all she cared about was herself.
I think unhealthy attachments to children in a selfish way are kinda natural in a sense. We think we have children solely for love (times we do have that capacity), however, in nature, we bear children as way to continue OUR legacy (DNA/Genetics). She is a demon, I understand she is something beyond a good and evil comprehension. But with as many statements as "Stolen from me" were there, there were subtle hints of attachment of "Saving your place in my world, just the same" when wondering would he be against her vision and plan for Sanctuary. You don't fold the arms over of someone who was ONLY just a means to an end and pay a moment of respect, nor monologue a moment of pain and weakness (She woulda just raged and only pulled the key out). It's again, not so simple with Lilith for demon bad, (angel badish good?), there was depth and complexity, which made for a more compelling nature of the villains in this game and the true meaning of the prophecies that unfolded.
@@noodles6390 So we have heavens angels that can lose their way and turn bad or have flaws, but the idea of a demon being able to have some sympathy for their child is completely unfathomable? Completely disagree.
I agree with you completely. I never played any Diablo games and don't know the story, I just watched the Rathma's cutscene where Lilith was also there, and then this video, and all I see is how she loved Rathma and the place she calls the Sanctuary
I love the part where Lilith asks Inarius about their son, the voice actress and animators did so well imparting some really human qualities to a demon from hell
its beautiful sure but story wise thats blizzard failure demons are demons they have no light in them angels are angels they have no dark in them humans are humans they have both in them and thats why they feel remorse they have guilt and they can change their way, demons and angles have no choice, humans do thats why they CAN become a perfect creation and go above both demons and angels. if u ask about fallen angels, they are fallen they didnt choose to go dark they were forced by corruption through hatred pain and suffering
@@shahn0or oh really? As you said demon = fallen angel, not really matches with "demons are demons they have no light in them" statement. The entire cinematic shows up that angel could be more cruel than demon, killing its own son and was about to end the entire world, including all of humanity.
@@easyrider2940 if angels are cruel its because light demands it , and in diablo universe demons are not fallen angels thats bible description of demons, in diablo universe demons are pure manifestation of everything bad dark and evil and they can corrupt angels and humanity with that evil, this is however was the original basics in diablo universe, now they are adding humanistic traits to nonhuman beings to please everyone, the only thing that stopped angels to end humanity was the scroll of faith
I know Inarius is a A-hole but it broke my heart to see him almost crying and screaming for protection and the way he just melts away like that. this is top-notch cinematic
He deserved it. Dude murdered his lover and their son, and was about to end the entire world, including all of humanity. He's probably more evil than any villain in Diablo history.
@@jaysoniorg2950 You're right saying he deserved it. But not saying he is absolute evil. He has been a Mephisto's prisoner for centuries, tortured. After that, all he wanted was returning home, in Heavens, but angels didn't want him anymore ; so he was ready to do anything to be accepted in Heavens once more. Exactly like the Cathedral of Light, all he needed was a prophecy to trust ; and It ended by death for him and the soldiers who follow him. Inarius fate is really sad, he wanted to escape Eternal Conflict and created Sanctuary and Nephalem in this objective, and he paid the price for it by losing his home, by being tortured in hell for centuries and by being ignored by his brothers til his death. He is not evil, he had to pay a price for a mistake (which is the existence of humanity) that no one could bear.
@@lucashernandez6843 He didn't make a mistake, though. Any real man would realize they had accomplished something incredible, relished the opportunity at a peaceful existence with their wife and children, and stepped up to the plate. But Inarius turned his back on all that, betrayed his lover, banished her to hell, murdered their offspring, then tried to actually murder her as well as end an entire world and all of their progeny. Seriously, not even the prime evils stoop that low.
@@petersander5802 Inarius tried to kill his lover. killed is offspring (his kid with Lilith) and almost ended mankind for the reason of being aknowledged back in heavens.
Those Prava legionaries are badass. Fearless and unbeatable in their blind faith. Problem became when they lost faith. If Inarius just floated above, they'd kill everything in this cinematic.
But that's the story, isn't it? Inarius doesn't give a F about them, while they would die if he asked. He abandons them to go pursue his selfish desire. If he stayed with them they'd be fine.
I like how Lilith's character is not about being super powerful, even though she is. She got in his head and outsmarted him pretty hard. I also like how she seems so unbothered even with this incredibly powerful angel charging at her.
Just like in D3, one cinematic stands out as a masterpiece. The fight between Imperius and Tyrael in D3 and this emotional play between Lilith and Inarius in D4. They really nailed it with Lilith's character. They couldn't have succeded more. Absolutely love it
Two things I would like to comment: 1.- When Lilith is impaled note that her hands are welcoming Inarius spear. Let's recap: they created Sanctuary not as a mean to end the Eternal Conflict but to merely escape from it: they knew the powers of both the Burning Hells and the High Heavens were too massive for any of them to repel. They just wanted a place of peace, where there is no need to battle. But at this point Lilith is tired of eons of battle, she wanted release and for a little moment she had the hope that death, even one as tragic as being killed by the hand of your past lover, could bring her that. But as she knew deep inside her that wasn't meant to be, she will live either to create a place that can stand the clash of the Eternal Conflict (and in the process destroying her own children) or she will perpetuate it but she will never know rest, just as the very essence of all angel and demonkind since Anu and Tathamet. 2.- The prophecy said that the spear of light will pierce Hatred's heart. But Inarius impales Lilith by her stomach, and she being a female that also means her womb. Despite both of them creating Rathma not as humans reproduce but through rituals, the women womb is THE place of communion between male and female and in this case of more different forces: of demonic and angelic, of light and dark, of order and chaos. They converged in that esoteric womb, they created life in the place where all natures can interact. But that was thousands of mortal lifetimes ago and now they are again at square zero. They aren't past lovers nor allies, they are what they were meant to be: enemies who will give no quarter. And by crushing that space, both by Inarius hand and Lilith will, they destroyed any chance of communion between opposing forces. Father and Mother of Sanctuary declared the death of their hopes, signing in her blood and his wrath the burial of any future encounter. The conflict will rage eternal and the few ones who wished for something else are no more. Excuse my english but I know you will not read this crap in spanish lol.
Prophecy was fulfilled - Spear of light piercing hatred's heart - She pierced his heart (full of hatred) with his spear of light (his weapon from the heavens!)
I think it's refering to Mephisto. "spear of light (soulstone) piercing Mephistos embryo/heart form and then he who was in chains is set free (Mephisto).
I love the music as Inarius makes his entrance. It really sounds angelic and beautiful while also sounding off kilter and slightly frantic, just like his mental state. He is such an aesthetically beautiful yet terrifying character. Love it.
Everything in this leaves me wanting more, the voice acting, the stellar animation and production quality, the story of love and betrayal birth and destruction, it’s perfect. I had never seen it while playing the game and to suddenly come upon something so stunning left my jaw on the floor.
There are tears in her eyes. I think she truly had feeling for Inarius. It clearly that she didn't want to kill him in the 2 last war because there still was conflict in his heart, but the angel cut their last bond when replied "I made it right to satify the heaven". The bad things about Diablo 4 story that Blizzard made Inarius a mad angel, who didn't care about human, not the one who used to tired with the eternal conflict and wanted a hideout for angel and demon. Inarius used to protect human from demon. But may be like Lorath said, thousands yeard in torture changed him.
I read a good theory where they said Inarius is gonna be next big bad and Mephisto is a red hearing. Lucifer the biggest character in hell forreal is gonna be inaruis. The whole fallen angel thing in the Bible? Reason why he was never named before now? He didn’t exist Lilith I think was trying to help humanity and in the grand scheme inaruis is gonnna come back as Lucifer as the true big bad of Diablo to reclaim his creations and take back their power to get back at the heavens for damning him
I also think she had feelings for Inarius in the past, but I think she had already decided to kill him as soon as she saw what he did to Rathma. How painful she made it depended on whether or not he expressed any remorse.
@@BowserTheMightythat's more disbelief (most likely). The satisfaction people want when hurt. Why did you betray me? Why did you ghost me? I personally loved how they executed it..Inarius' presence finally making an entrance in the game at this point was truly epic to me..Since he had just kept being referred to. I love how he hovered and just observed the battle taking place before seeing his true target and taking action. He gave me Trunks vibes..no messing around straight to business..
Inarius appears a few times before though. Once in Act I when you ask for his blessing to go after Lilith, then at the very beginning of Act 4 when you meet Donan in the Cathedral of Light, if you go right up to the altar he's right there. This is still his most badass appearance for sure though.
@@incogspectator3042 Inarius IS crazy at this point. He has been tortured by Mephisto for 3000 years and has been cut off from the High Heavens for even longer.
I think, deep down, Lilith didn't want to kill Inarius and still hoped they'd live in Sanctuary together. Until he killed Rathma and said he did it to satisfy the Heavens. That was the last straw.
I think there was a part of her that honestly still loved him. There was a time when sanctuary was young and she actually didn't even act demonic in the lest until the litany of death. When the neohalim found they could kill each other. She had not used demonic powers till that time, so she was just a happy house wife with her husband and son.

After all Diablo’s antagonists, I never sympathize so much like I did with Lilith here. I love grey characters like this. Also the fact she was always telling the truth and wasn’t lying like she always was honest about everything but Iniarus played himself here, he really believed that the prophecy was all about him when Mephisto literally felt all his hatred before making him a prisoner. He literally was meant to died in this prophecy.
My impression of Lilith was that she was basically always lying. Her words were full of reason and sensibility; she made you want to ally with her. But her actions were completely out of sync with her words. Every person who was convinced by her words ended up becoming corrupted into fanatical lunatics willing to kill their friends... She killed plenty of people in spite of *claiming* to be there to protect Sanctuary and humanity. It was unclear how her taking Mephisto's power would mean the end of Sanctuary, or if that was just a desperate lie he came up with to try to save himself. Ultimately, I felt she was most dangerous because she was so intelligent, so good at understanding human desires and how to pander to them, but her true motives were never even revealed by the end of the story... I feel like a big theme of this story was: The enemy of my enemy is *not* necessarily my friend.
She's not grey, she just has a silver tongue. She makes good points but ultimately is manipulating all her followers to accomplish her own goals. I do think she is a good villain and somewhat sympathetic tho.
@@judgeprime3730 She's not grey, people are just convinced that she ain't a demon like all the other demons. They're wrong just like the cultists we farm every day in the game.
A spear of light penetrating Hatred's Heart. Considering Inarius sees his children as beasts/abominations and wants to destroy them all, would his heart be "Hatred's heart", and as such Lilith fulfilled the prophecy by killing him?
Pretty sure spear of light piercing hatreds heart and setting the one bound free was in regards to the stone piercing hatred/mephisto and setting him free from his bindings in hell. The prophecy starts out about lilith and inarius, but ends with mephistos freedom at the end of the prophecy. Theres hints to it referencing that in act 6.
Mephisto did mension in one of the dialogs that Inarius was full of hate, Inarious believed that the prophecy was all about him killing Lillith and "righting some wrongs" but i think the prophecy is idd all about the death of Inarius.
That line and the delivery when Lilith tells Inarius "Silence is their judgement" is so top notch! As was the focus on Lilith's lips as she spoke the words, giving it this eerie feeling. She couldn't have delivered a more piercing blade to cut through Inarius's heart. To be honest, he was defeated with words rather than physicality right then and there. The most epic non-physical take down I've seen in some time. I think this whole cinematic may very well Blizzard's best one across all their IP's. On a conceptual and execution level, it's just unreal!
Guys, remember, Inarius is a Rogue Angel - his power comes from the "living souls" ascended to heaven. He knows his place, but is he welcomed back? No. He defiled the trust. He lost. He was banished. He had limited powers. Lilith knew this. When Lilith rips his wings off, the pain in is his screams is daunting. holy S.

Wouldn't be worth the cost. As amazing and love as Blizzard cinematics are, there's a reason they're few and far between, and then fairly short when we actually get one. They're truly the bleeding edge when it comes to videogame cinematics, however there's just no way to justify the cost and monetize them. From a business perspective I think it's really smart. They use them to draw attention and hype, as even people who don't play these games may hear about them, watch them, and be able to enjoy them.
I think it's the "Heavens protect me!" line that gets me. Inarius is not only a complete narcissist, but also truly weak and pathetic. Not sure what Mommy ever saw in him.
Yeah people forget though that Lilith started the whole thing. So inaurius realizing the heavens with eventually realizing what he did tried to make up for his mistakes. So he killed their son that was half demon and used the world stone to make humans, something that wasn’t done by Lilith which would make him look better than if it was the both of them creating humans. Don't know what Inarius expected. The current leader of the Angiris Council is Imperius, who was angry at Tyrael and tried killing him for simply HELPING Sanctuary. Did he really think Imperius would let him back into Heaven after he stole the Worldstone, slept with Mephisto's daughter, and created Sanctuary. I think Imperius would rather kill himself than even think about letting Inarius back into Heaven.
I have been on a Spotify binge for every sound on this soundtrack. The scene is known as confrontation on the album. I’m beginning to see why. This is glorious beautiful work here.
I swear when Inarius appears above all of them, casting his light upon the worthy, the music that plays is the exact same thing that played in the A Space Odyssey 2001, when they witnessed the monolith on the Moon.
i think to animate an entire film in this quality you would have to spent an enormous amount of money. would be sick but i dont think it would be financially worth it for blizzard. but who knows might be coming in the future.
The question is; Is Inarius actually dead? or is he now "something else"? The way he melted into the floor, seeping into the ground, and Lilith's method of pulling out Inarius' wings, along with her words "you belong in hell". Maybe Lilith bound Inarius to hell, similar to how the evils are, which could eventually lead to Inarius being reborn as "something else". An interesting theory.
Demons and angels can't really die. That's why the primevals are always reformed. Same with angels - but Inarius was cast out. His essence might not be able to reform in heaven as a new angel. He could very well reform as a demon.
Maybe he will be the villain of the first real expansion to the game. Even though that would be a bit uncreative since we already got something similar in Reaper of Souls

When Inarius told Lilith he killed their son to satisfy the heavens, she asked "tell me...did they rejoice? No?" Oof!! the voice actor and actress in this scene understood the assignment
Especially her ANNOYANCE by his response
4:22 him wanting to "satiate/satisfy" the heavens is pretty much a bitch slap to ALL that they BOTH created
Such an epic scene, the entrance of Inarius was badass just appearing, then floating down in the middle of all those demons like they didn't exist. And Lilith so graceful and laid back.
When Lilith say's 4:36
"And our son?" Then sighs after Inarius's expected answer, you know you have a true sympathetic, flawed but powerful Mother villain.
@@wingledon2465 Yeah this Lilith simping is a little awkward. Imagine someone would think that Mephisto is somekind of antihero instead of a demon. 😂

@@scotthansen3635 Correct 👍
Edit: Changed it. A bit tired.
Diablo v Imperius was better
Two things I would like to comment:
1.- When Lilith is impaled note that her hands are welcoming Inarius spear.

A spear of light penetrating Hatred's Heart. Considering Inarius sees his children as beasts/abominations and wants to destroy them all, would his heart be "Hatred's heart", and as such Lilith fulfilled the prophecy by killing him?
That's true!
Mephisto, the master of Hatred itself, recognized the hate in Inarius heart way before he tortured him. He was meant to die.
It’s a double entendre
If only we could get a full movie of this cinematic masterpiece
This cut scene was my favorite in the game and honestly on the list of one of my favorite cut scenes ever, there are so many break downs in this scene its truly a masterpiece of animation, The mothers unshaking faith of walking on hells ground barefoot, the weekness in hells beasts when Inarius and his light is there, they are weakend so much the knights are winning, but.. when Inarius goes after Litith and they are talking, their conversation seemd more like spouses, you could hear the hurt in her voice, Inarius was suduced, but she said "We made a choice" OOF He wanted her at one point right, so much so they had a child, my absolute favorite is Litith saying you "belong in Hell" and tearing the wings off of an Angel, Wow! Just wow, after that his light was gone and Hells beast had their full power, this scene is Amazing
I read a good theory about how Inarius may be the new big bad and Mephisto is a red hearing. That the true villian of hell has never been spoken of in Diablo universe. Because Lucifer - the angel who fell and thrown into hell returns to lay claim to his creations. Reasons why Lucifer has never been named even tho he’s the biggest name in Christian lore for hell? Cause he didn’t exist yet and Inarius is gonna come back with a vengeance
Listen to Liliths final warning. It doesn’t sound like she’s talking about Mephisto. Sure sounds like she’s warning us of something greater. Plus the angelic music when she turns to ash? I think Lilith may have actually been on our side low key
And yet- here we are again. I gave you free will and you’ve squandered it wasting it on a crusade you don’t understand. You chose tyranny when offered freedom a poor legacy for my gift. Without me you would have no victory and it’s cost will be more than you can pay.
@@chasedribben6833it was like she is the only one who ever fought for humanity. Except Tyrael.
@@chasedribben6833 I hate to be that guy, but it's Diablo. It's just that simple. Diablo is the devil a.k.a Lucifer it was all along. Not sure how you never made that connection, maybe you just didn't know what Diablo means?
That battle scene is hands down one of the best cutscenes I've ever seen in a game. Absolutely mind-blowing.
thanks for uploading this. My cutscene glitched out when I was watching it, so I appreciate this being here so I can watch what I missed!
The fact that Lilith survives THIS and manages to stab Inarius back hard enough to actually impale him says a lot about how deceiful her appearance is. She looks like a tall, yet frail demon lady, but make no mistake, she's more, much more than that. I mean, when your father is the Lord of Hatred, it becomes obvious that there's more that meets the eye.
Not only that - she lifted him off the ground and pinned him down with his own lance, which gave her leverage to rip his wings out with her bare hands. The strength is unimaginable!
@@whiskeysierra8285 she a baddie for sure
She was stabbed through the stomache with a spear haft. Your typical demon isn't going to be phased by that. Her surviving is not surprising at all. Idk what you are talking about
@@richardashendale922yeah dont demons have multiple hearts too? She was pinned down though, and inarius thought meanwhile a taxi would show up headed towards the heavens
@@richardashendale922 We're talking about a spear forged in Heavens, pretty much like Tyrael's sword (without the magical abilities, sadly). DO you really think that Inarius would use a regular, "mortal" spear?
That is actually part of the reason why she can stab him back (a regular spear would struggle MUCH MORE to pierce an Angiris' armour)
Lilith is free. Inarius got Izualed. Mephisto is trapped within the soulstone yet he can roam freely as a doggo sailing staight to the new DLC. Good stuff 👍Can't wait to meet him and his bros again.
dude fr the wolf form is so sick and his voice was mvp in my opinion. loved it everytime he was on my screen.
Nah his high pitched cold voice in Diablo 2 was best. Wish they made it like this.
Lilith free? What? Did we play the same game?
@@RALL123456High powered demons like Lilith, the lesser and primes and lieutenants all reform in time.
Angels reform but they don't have the same memories/personality. Tyrael was a very rare exception, maybe it's because he was an archangel. Not much lore on that part.
@@VengefulMaverick Angels get "recycled" for lack of a better term. The power that composes them returns to the Crystal Arch and is used to make a new angel, in theory.
Anyone notice at 04:33 that Inarius' wings also recoiled there emphasizing his surprise? God the people who worked.onnthisnare amazing!!
These clips brought back so many memories when I was still playing last year - The bear form was op 😂 Great video!! ❤✨
This is also the most amazing cutscene in any video game I have ever seen in my life. Hands down. Sensational!!!
Why didn't he pierce her heart? Because he loved her. It's a really sad scene. Work of art
I'll give this to the crazy lady... she walked barefoot into Hell.
This is hands down a top 10 video game of all time. In my personal list, it's not number 1 cuz Skyrim exists, but like it's for sure 2nd to 5th best. The other games in my top 5 are Fable 2, Batman Arkham Knight and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. This game will complete that top 5, just so hard to decide where cuz the others give me so much nostalgia. Diablo 4 has the best cutscenes out of any other video game in the history of video games.
The level of detail put into this cinematic is amazing. If you look closely enough, you can see the wooden spears used by the soldiers shake due to their length. Thats some good detail added. 1:58
This was my first diablo game and this cut scene was insane
It's funny that Inarius was presented as very proud of his beauty when he literally don't have a face XD
Maybe because of his tentacle wings 😅

Inarius touching down and trembling the ground was badass. Only wish he got more fight time to showcase the powers of an Angel.
These short cinematics and games cannot give proper idea of the true power of the Angels and the Demons. You should read the Diablo: The Sin War trilogy and you will get better understanding.
Poor Inarius, Angelic Councils sent him to Mephisto for peace treaty, but actully for toying and becoming a punching bag. For centuries of being tortured, his mind completely went broken his heart was filled with hatred toward Burning Hell and its creature. He would do everything to destroy Hell, Santuary to satisfy and ascend High Heavens: a place where he calls "Home"

I love how the mother aspect of lilith plays through the whole time. A part of her certainly loves sanctuary and Rathma. But it might not be love we desire.
She can't love in a human way. All she loved was her evil schemes for power and she admitted in the end that she was not there to save anybody and that Elias was misguided.
Masterpiece of a cinematic. Probably my favorite of all time

If they make a movie, I think they will make a lot of money for it.
They tried, world of warcraft movie, it didn't do too hot. Personally, I liked it.

i think to animate an entire film in this quality you would have to spent an enormous amount of money. would be sick but i dont think it would be financially worth it for blizzard. but who knows might be coming in the future.
Tyrael's wings were clipped which turned him human. Will removing Inarius' wings turn him to human too?
*mortal
Yes I believe he turn mortal like Tyrael, but the hell got a hold on him like cinematic show.
@@Vantud391 Yep he'll return as a demon now. Probably the strongest of them all.

Either hes dead but it would be awesome if he returns tortured and twisted to a demon form like izual in d2
@@mastere648 Gotta have content for season 10-20
No mention of the Devil in Diablo. Inarius just might become one. The ultimate evil.
@BalkanBiker i think Tathamet is the closest reference to the devil (the original prime evil). I do like the idea of Devil Inarius though
I still come back to this cinematic from time to time. It’s actually perfect.

Inarius didn't realise the prophecy was about him. His heart was filled with hatred
When you think about it, the prophecy did come to pass: a spear of light would pierce the heart of hatred. Lilith stabbed Inarius with his own spear not too far away from his heart. Don't get me wrong, Lilith is 100% evil, manipulative, greatly motivated by self-interest, and ambitious, but her goals were not motivated by hatred but rather desperation. Inarius on the other hand felt nothing but contempt and disdain for his own creation and for those he feels are responsible for putting him where he is.
close but Lillith is not 100% evil - even stated so by Blizzard. Her dichromatic eyes indicate as such - her blue eye represents the good in her.

If Diablo 4 has open ended endings like Fallout, I'm pretty sure many players would choose Lilith side or let her live instead of killing her.
Why ?
@@Denjoo1337 She is on the human side want to grant them freedom(heaven do no like humans), she created the sanctuary as a safe heaven for those want out of the eternal war between heaven and hell. She is easier to side with compare to fallout 4 institute.
@@Al-ng2wn did you evem play the game? her trying to "save" sanctuary includes killing all "weak" people and turning the "strong" people into corrupted cannibals. she was planning to use humanity to win the eternal conflict for her, with her being the leader of a corrupted humanity at the end. is she better than the prime evils? yes, the story made that obvious when the player and neyrelle chose to imprison mephisto instead. but she is not good for humanity either, far from it.
@@thahoule7924 i think she want to empower humanity to win the war and let the weak fend for themselves. There isn't guarantee that the heaven won't genocide the humans. When she said the cost is higher is true.
@@Al-ng2wn No. The game constantly reinforces that Lilith is using her followers as a means to an end. To obtain the key to Hell, to secure safe passage, absorb Mephisto's essence and install herself as the new Lady/Queen of Hatred. That her presence and influence is corrupting Sanctuary. With Diablo and Baal still manifesting themselves, same as Mephisto. She would absorb all the Primes, have complete dominion over Hell and with the Cathedral of Light massacred then Sanctuary would be next. Enough, like her uncle, to bring the Eternal Conflict right back to the High Heavens doorstep again. That's her endgame.
Lilith could care little about humanity, beyond their use in advancing her scheme. The only reason she perpetuates this facade of a motherly figure trying to protect her children is because she's learned, unlike her father and uncles, that it's far more effective to inspire the loyalty of your followers than to demand it through fear and force.
She is the Queen of the Succubi. She can be compelling and persuasive when she wants to be, but it's a lie. The nightmare section where she traps you with the Eye showcases that when the 'Mother of Sanctuary' has her sweet nothings denied, then the Daughter of Hatred bares her teeth. Her boss fight shows her two faces in two phases.
