Can't kill the console off with cheaper PC builds anymore man.
PS4's are 329.99 now, Xbox One is 350.00 with 2 games free plus the gold program, and Wii U is 299.99 with Cat Mario and Nintendo Land free.
I am not saying consoles are better, they are not, but I am saying that a 300 dollar computer is really really stretching it.
ProtoMario indeed. Especially come holiday time due to the deals/console bundles. Xbox One bundles with 6 games for 550 here in Aus. Pretty astounding.
Some Thing
Yeah man
Not to mention consoles come with peripherals like controllers, microphones, headsets, and in the WiiU's case... a miniature TV that you can play your games on even if you didn't have a TV.
Was 400-500 on amazon plus shipping, at bestbuy, and at he local retail store...
Jason Michelson Consoles do cost another 50+ a year for their premium membership, you probably have a mouse and keyboard from your old computer laying around, you can use your television as a monitor and they might get some free games bundeled in, chances are you don't want one or more of the games, and any other games are 60 each, where as you can get games dirt cheap on the Humble Bundle, Steam, G2A, GOG, and that is just for games, Computers can do more than gaming and use Netflix.
Kill your door! Doors are inferior products, we here at Glorious Moat Master Race believe that if you don't own and maintain your own crocodile infested moat, you are an inferior human being.
Here are some benefits of building your own moat:
-Owning a moat lets you become a lord, by being a lord you are capable of creating services for other moat owners - but 90% of us will just modify our Nordic drawbridge decals.
-Increased Security
-Draw bridge operating systems are highly flexible.
-Increased customization of home, any home enthusiast would be impressed by the kind of visual flare a moat can provide their humble abode.
-Moat enthusiasts are a more mature community than disgusting door folk.
-Most of our community will always care more about how good our moat looks rather than actually using it.
Here are some downsides to building your own moat (who cares?):
-Constant maintenance, you'll wake up with an error at least once a month, fixing your moat can take hours of frustrating work.
-A large amount of service providers don't give a fuck about moats, they don't appreciate the moat, they never will - their services will struggle to cross your moat constantly. Even if you spend thousands on your moat in an attempt to make it as inviting as possible.
-Some service providers will not ever think of crossing your moat, no matter how many petitions all of us at "GMMR" sign.
-The water of your moat will get infected with viruses that are extremely detrimental to your privacy if you don't constantly clean and scan it.
-You have to learn to build a moat, if you purchase a pre-built moat you might as well be buying a big door, and that means you're a piece of shit.
So what are you waiting for pleb? It's easy. Leave your filthy casual door behind and install your moat today, because if you don't - you're just being lazy.
Door =//= Moat
That's the spirit!

I broke your peasant brain
can you update this vid that will be greatly appreciated if you did
pcpartpicker.com/p/sNgnTH its like 19 cents away from 400 dollars, and the price does not include taxes and shipping or a key board and mouse but there's a great keyboard for 30 dollars that come with a gaming mouse, but it will get the job done. The stock cooler for the 880k cpu is great, and the case comes with a power supply, so that's everything you need.
+AFlyingModem thanks
+AFlyingModem that will destroy consoles
MrGaming yes, this will be able to do 1080p 60fps a lot easier than the consoles.
+AFlyingModem Not every game, though.................
Watching this vid now in 2021 kinda hurts. Like if you didn't upgrade this PC at all and just kept the same hardware like you do with the consoles (unless you got that mid-gen refresh pro consoles) then this PC is just on it's knees with the games that have came out within like the last 2 or 3 years. If you built this PC as a main compared with the PS4 and it's whole entire life cycle then it just hurts to think about.
It really makes the consoles seem like a better value when you see what a developer can do with a set piece of hardware and actual optimization.
Okay, here's the deal. I love pc and console gaming. The thing is, not only some games will look better on a console than a $400 dollar pc since developers make the games for console (most of the time). But if you have a $400 pc you will want to upgrade after a year and even before that; you will be in a disadvantage against people with better pc's ( this is only for people that play multiplayer games). With slower loading time and a choppier frame rate. Consoles put you at a level playing field. Also even though I am more accurate with a mouse, I'm more comfortable with a controller. ( If you use a controller on pc in a multiplayer game you will be at a disadvantage. This is just my opinion. I love both. Btw, I don't have the best pc. It costed about $1700, but it's getting kinda old.
shogunharvey He made good points, no need to bash his comment unless you can come back with an actual response, not just "you're wrong".
Completely wrong dude. As long as your computer has the required speculations to play the game you will not be at a disadvantage. It's not like it is a competition.
shogunharvey The information wasn't wrong lol, have you seen minimum game specs for far cry 4, assassins creed unity, shadow of mordor, or even battle field 4. A $400 PC will not play those better than a ps4, it might technically be more powerful, but it is not even close to anywhere as optimized for games.
Larry the Magician
First, Speculation? lol. Second, That's not how it works. I don't think you play on pc at all. Do you?The better your computer, the better the game runs. Not everyone that meets the requirements will be able to play at the same speed/ frame rate/ loading times.
shogunharvey
Great argument man. lol. Just a dumb fanboy.
I don't like that kill your console videos don't include the price of windows, chances are that console users won't have a copy lying around.
linux or if youre a student you can usually get it for free
Also the fact that the prices on the parts well change a week maybe even days later and probably end up costing a lot more than "400.00"
your suppose to steal windows
Kingdom Of Mog LOL good luck finding good linux supported games.
Not sure why console users don't regard the price of games as expensive. 60 bucks for a release and even used games cost >20 bucks. Long live steam.
The most expensive part of building a computer is the OS. How can they justify that price!
/r/microsoftsoftwareswap
$10 Windows 7 copies over there.
Adam Cabbage Are they legit? If so I might buy there copy of Microsoft office too. And how would it work? How would I install it without a disk.
Grant Kidd You are able to distribute the installation files freely, Microsoft doesn't care about that. The only thing they care about is you having a proper key.
Grant Kidd They are legit, but if I were you I'd look for a reputable seller on it.
And once you have a key you go on microsofts website and activate it. (or something along those lines)
Adam Cabbage Yeah, I have no idea who these guys are
anyone else thinks he could pass as a super villain? xD xD
Me
Same xD
yeah xD
yeah xD
Just add a mohawk haircut and done: Vaas cosplay achieved succesfully
Ffs these budget pcs are shit and really don't compare to a ps4.
what a load of bs. Pcs dont have low level access and thats why consoles are awesome long term gaming machines. Even after 8 years games will look great.
This pc won't play many games at 1080p maybe minecreft and dota and thats it.
Uk Gamer Ha, don't kid yourself m8. This PC could run any game at 1080p.
TheGreggy711 What about 3 years down the line?
What do you expect? Entry level components aren't going to be amazing.
Uk Gamer Three years down the line the majority of popular games are still going to be made with the same graphics because consoles aren't going to be upgraded for another four years. PC exclusives will have good enough optimization and settings to be able to turn the game down to look like previous years or better.
Honestly, if you're going PC, go all out. Yes, there are some advantages to PC inherently but I come for the graphics and framerates, and you really might not get that with this setup. I would go with an $800-$1000 build, you're sure to get high to ultra on any game out now.
$400 is a lot for some out there.
Tek Syndicate exactly and why not spend it on a console and they can game at high grpahics instead of low as 400$ can buy you.... really....
Cobac no because no
And he's right. 400 is kinda hard when your roommate bails on you and your job is slowly cutting your hours...damn small businesses...
Even a build for 800 would probably break even over a few years if you consider that pc games are cheaper. Not to mention a computer is so much more than just a gaming system.
Heartless Okami eh I kinda gotta disagree with you there, mainly because its a nonsensical statement, there is no comparative level of graphics, they are set by the devs on all modes of the game on PC and locked on a console, I don't know what consoles run at, probably somthing comparable to Medium, but its sort of a silly statement when you won't go over Medium AND get a steady 60 eith this machine.
I have decided to build a PC for the first time and I wanted to know if my parts are all compatible with each other:
Case: CiT Goblin Mesh
Power supply: EVGA 500W
Processor: intel core i5 4460k
RAM: HyperX FURY DDR3 4GB (x2)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H81M-H
Graphics Card: Asus Nvidia GTX 960
Hard Drive: WD 1tb SATA III
Is this build good to run mid-high level gaming such as CSGO and Call of duty, if anyone has nay suggestions feel free to comment.
PS. I want to keep the build between £500-£600
+AngryAfrican123 use uk.pcpartpicker.com/ and select all the parts, it will tell you
+AngryAfrican123 yes, These should work fine together. However I would try to get a case that could have at least 2x 120mm fans mounted, also look at the r9 380 4gb as it's an overall better performer and has 2gb more vram for about the same cost.(but if you want to stick with the 960 its a great card too) a cpu cooler is also a good idea but could be purchased later.
I decided to go with the MSI GTX 960 Graphics card its cheaper but performs quite well according to its specifications
+XxX_TonyBlair_XxX dont buy a 960 because the r9 380 is better
+Clashtrix He needs to upgrade his power supply if he buys that
I just need to be able to have a PC with the basic standard of running Star Wars Battlefront (Not the old one, the one that's coming out) at the absolute highest settings at 60FPS. Can this do that?
Really 320gb HDD...
Plenty of games will fit on it and the name of the game here is low cost.
Tek Syndicate including low cost, steam holiday sales are going on. Most games are on sale for 60-80%. Just bought payday 2 for $10.
Tek Syndicate With all the money you'll save buying games on a PC vs a console you could easily buy a bigger hard drive if you need it anyhow. like you said 320gb is heaps for a starter system thats purely going to be playing games.
Tek Syndicate I agree with the low cost but i rather save my money for a extra week of what ever and get a 1tb HDD
***** Exactly and considering how cheap SSD's are i would get the 1tb HDD then wait until next birthday/Christmas/pay day and then get a 400/500 gb SSD to save money in the future in upgrades.

Nice! I had one like that, but I removed all rebates. I hate rebates.
Yeah rebates aren't always the best. I do limit my purchases to 3 good vendors though, in order to minimize possible return headaches.
this is a pretty good build, i am recommending this to a friend, thanks
That's pretty much the PC I've been slowly putting together over the last month, though I need the CPU before I can assemble it. Waiting til after Christmas and hoping for a price drop for the FX-6300 or 8320. I was so close to picking up the 8320 from Amazon on Black Friday for $100 and I'm kicking myself for not jumping on it.
8320 would have been my first option at 100-120 price range. I generally would opt for a bit better motherboard, but in this price range it is tough to find one.
The Last Of Us.
That is all....
Cloud ffvii PKP Linear boring shit. Good cutscenes, terrible gameplay. Nothing else from that game. You complete it in 2 days, no more uses for console
I'm sorry you didn't appreciate it; you're in the significant minority.
Cloud ffvii PKP Yeah. I'm the smart one
Sure thing.
Giedrius911G you know it has a very good multiplayer mode right?
I don't know if I agree with the Fractal Design core 1100 because the supply is located on the top. I think it's best to have it in the bottom of the case. Correct me if I'm wrong please.
And I've just been sitting here for the past few hours editing my console killer PC video which..... is almost exactly the same as this one.
Goddamnit Tek Syndicate!! xD
I'll watch it anyway!
You and me both, lol.
George Jordan - Holy GIF! PyroGamerTWO Thanks guys :D It'll be going up sometime tomorrow!
Please do make one. I am trying to be a productive member of the community and going out to convert people to PC, but for me, since I don't make videos, I can only help through word of mouth. Knowing about multiple different "Kill Your Console" videos does make it a lot easier for me as I can recommend them to channels :p Plus, I like seeing what ignorant people put in the comments lol
Kirigaya Kazuto Well it's uploaded! I actually overhauled the whole thing, so it's not even similar to this one anymore.
Really good video! It's not about PC vs Consoles....or who wins. It's about not being lazy and realizing that consoles are a rip off that should not be supported. Paying to play online...paying ridiculous prices for accessories...etc. It's nice to have a few exclusives but imho Sony & Microsoft exploiting gamers for pure profit should not be supported.
+TheSneezingMonkey Consoles are not a rip off, you should know with all your PC Master Race understanding that console makers actually loose money when they sell the consoles, it's made up because when a games first comes out ten dollars of the profit goes to the company, this also applies to controllers, ect.
+TheSneezingMonkey Yes because paying for a 150 dollar keyboard is not a ripoff.
The difference is....I have a choice! I can buy a keyboard for 10 bucks....or spend a fortune. And if the 150 keyboard is crap...it won't sell and they'll go bankrupt. With consoles you have no choice. You buy what they dictate at the price they want. THAT's a ripoff....
TheSneezingMonkey
I have a choice with subscription. Why include it? Durr.
+2010ngojo If you are trying to argue that the consoles have just as many "options" as the PC... I just don't even know what to say anymore.
Could you please update this video?
Okay.
Yay!
yey
with Zens release approaching; if AMD sticks to being the budget brand CPU, it could be better to wait and see what options they offer before suggesting fm2 or am3. the platform is still absolutely relevant if built properly.. it's just all been done over and over again.
Crit TV you know what fucking sucks. When I'm always late and the prices goes up
To think, just a few months ago, I was using an AMD Athlon X4 760K, 8 GB DDR3 RAM and an EVGA Geforce GTX 750ti.
Now, I'm running a rig with an overclocked Intel i5-6600K, 16 GB DDR4 RAM and a GTX 960 SC, with a few upgrade paths down the road. All I'll really need to upgrade is my graphics card (I'll wait for the next line of Nvidia cards and see what they have to offer) and my PSU (running a Corsair 750W power supply, but it never hurts to have more).
TO PLAY VIDEO GAMES YOU JUST NEED A CONSOLE AND A CONTROLLER WITH YOUR TV. PLAYING GAMES ON PC IS ANOTHER EXPERIENCE...
+benjamin plays Yeah, I also have PC (Steam), but I can't play God of War and KIllzone with it, so I use my consoles. Sorry. (Killing Floor 2 is awesome, too)
+MikeAK147 you don't have to do that on PC unless you want to, that's why you get steam, buy a game on there and play it.
+Gustavo Oliveira i play killing floor 2 too tell me ur steam name
+Christian Moreno gustavo_games or GUZROCK777
since it is impossible to use controller with pc. duuh
GODDAMN. You mentioned BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY ON PC? ._________________________________________________.
a PC has NEVER EVER changed its fucking platform. There is no backwards compatibility, AND ITS NOT EVEN POSSIBLE.
+Jupezzi It's surprisingly hard to run old games on newer PCs because the OS has changed so much.
ThPid Possibly because games like GTA 1 wasn't meant to run OS' like Windows 10?
But yeah, TBH you have a point there.
+Jupezzi Dude pc has changed a lot and most games would have never worked on different OS/Systems if it hadn't been for DirectX or other graphics APIs
Peter Yi Never heard, I don't play games on my pc. I leave that business on my consoles :P
Any game including "The last of Us" and some other titles Console exclusive are great... But they're story based so I could just watch a playthrough on UA-cam and get just as much out of it without wasting $60 on a plastic case, and $400 on a doormat
+WolverN Not the same playing it than watching it :P
Roy Loth I'd love to do both but would prefer is there was a narrative beyond the story with a nice voice. Playing the game is certainly not like watching it but would you rather Play the Walking Dead (TV Series, no the Game) and expect what comes next or watch it at night with a bowl of popcorn and some friends.
And paying $60 for something you have to return after for $10 kinda takes some fun out of it.
WolverN You have a point there. But not all games must be bought.
Roy Loth True, but pretty much all free-to-play games are on PC ;)
PioneermHm Why pay $60 for a linear storyline and have to click what decisions you want to make when you can watch a playthrough. For games like Skyrim obviously you would want to play but things such as The Wolf Among Us, I would just stick to watching with a bowl of popcorn.
Do you have a video on the actual building process? Like how to do all the wiring and stuff
TO ALL NEW PC BUILDERS.
DO NOT BUILD THIS PC IN 2016.
IT IS SERIOUSLY OUTDATED.
You WILL be disappointed with the performance.
>Says "We aren't here to bash consoles"
>Proceeds to say "Now it's time to kill some consoles"
Isn't that literally bashing consoles
+SuperLemonadeGamer Bash means insult, when he says kill some consoles he means out perform.
+Dan Plays Games so bashing then
+SuperLemonadeGamer he wasn't talking shit about what they do, he was just saying he was about to see what he could to destroy one ;3
Can it run minesweeper at a nice, smooth frame rate?
I play on both! :)
Also no building and testing it? :(
#PCMASTERRACE!
*/r/pcmasterrace FTFY
There is your $400 console killer PC....
now all you need is a decent monitor, a decent mouse, a decent keyboard, a decent headset and finally some decent games... rinse and repeat every 2 years or less. Yeah, so console killer.
Bora Rossi Not really, you just need a cheap kb+mouse to get started, then use a controller. You can plug the PC into your TV, so no problem there. Not everyone needs a headset, and it adds to the cost of a console as well...
Bora Rossi
Hook PC up to the TV. Done. Otherwise you need a monitor/tv for the console as well. A "decent mouse/keyboard combo is 20-30 dollars, and you don't need a headset. Hell you don't even need headphones for that matter, which is arguably better than headsets. And none of these you need to upgrade at all, let alone every 2 years. Anything else?
2010ngojo Ok, most of PC players want to play at most frames per second as they can, they always brag about "poor peasant playing at 1080p/60fps hahaha" and not having enough power and normal graphics card and just because your friend have a better one, they end up buying a more expensive one for "better gaming experience..they say". For that, they buy 4k monitors (since 4k tv's still kinda expensive), better mouse and keyboard, etc. On the other hand everyone had a tv so you just can hook to your console and forget about everything else, no need of mouse, keyboards or headphones (decent home theater is ok even tv speakers). Just look at the GTA 5 PC, PS4, XONE comparison and they just look the same so no need for a gaming PC really. At the end PC cost more eventually you like it or not. With consoles you have no problems until a new one comes out.
Bora Rossi
The PC players you're talking about are idiot elitists. If they want the best performance then either turn the settings down or get a better card. Either is arguably more expensive, it depends on the user.
2010ngojo Touche on that. So you got my point, now if that "console killer" is about the same specs of the current consoles why the need to build one? makes no sense to me, been able to upgrade later? meaning more money invested, kinda weird. I have a PC that can run games decently ( I use it for work tho) but for gaming I use consoles, just put the game in it and that's it. And yeah, I hate the so call " pc master race" elitists too.
A lot of these comments are about the OS prices. Go to /r/microsoftsoftwareswap/ and pick up a key for 8-20 dollars depending on what you want. Note that this is a grey market and you'll have to install windows using a USB stick but that shouldn't be a problem since there's guides there.
I saw an unopened Xbone at a hock shop today for $250 no tax... If you want to avoid breaking EULA and copyright laws, Windows isn't cheap.
Sean Metivier That's why I mentioned its a grey market. It's a way to get a legit OS and involves less risk then pirating it.
Yes, but there's also grey market consoles and console software. I'm totally for going PC, but with the understanding you pay upfront $100+ more and save that on your first few games (~$30 steam vs $40-60 console) rather then pirating/breaking EULA to get that PC price to almost/tied with US console prices (granted right now most consoles are $350 with two games).
Sean Metivier Grey market consoles? Never heard of that before haha. Just wanted to let people know there was a way of getting an OS for cheap without pirating or using experimental software.
You can get Xbox 360's and 360 games for pennies on the grand in Brasil, my friend wanted a Ps3 for ~900 USD and $100 USD a game because it was a status symbol :P
You should have made a full video building it. This is my first time searching for parts to build one. Any video tutorials recomendation of how to build one?
no operating system, smaller hard drive, no surround sound, no controller, no keyboard and mouse, huge beefy case. this is not a console killer. pc gamers need to stop trying to claim you can make a better gaming pc for the price of current consoles because they are generally only better at graphical settings but worse in every other way.
What other difference is there between pc and console? Isn't the graphical superiority the only materialistic difference?
I assume you use a pc, for commenting here, right? What did that pc or laptop cost?
Comparing a gaming pc with a console is flawed reasoning. It's like comparing a motorcycle with a jet plane. Both are uses of transportation, but each different in their use.
there is a lot more. some people have surround sound, some people need to buy windows! some people need to buy a keyboard and mouse. xbox and ps4 have great controllers included in their price. ps4 lets you start playing games almost instantly while they are installing so the 500gb hdd doesnt seem like too much of a limitation. the consoles have dedicated streaming and recording hardware. i think pc gaming is great but a shitty $400 computer is worse than xbone and ps4 in almost everyway.... graphics arent everything. the experience and overall package matters.
"no operating system"
Linux and SteamOS are free and better than console OS.
"smaller hard drive"
Games usually take up less space on PC, but you can still get a 500GB HD instead for a few dollars more.
"no surround sound"
Consoles come with a surround sound system?
"no controller"
You can get an XBOXONE or PS4 controller for 60$.
"no keyboard and mouse"
Consoles come with keyboard and mouse? I do agree that they're necessary on PC, so I'm going to go ahead and say that you can get a good gaming KB&M kit for 30$
"huge beefy case"
That's the one point that I'm going to give you. Consoles are slimmer and better finished than most budget custom built PCs.
I know I added 90$ in accessories, but that's the price of about two years of online subscription on consoles, which is free on PC. Also, in those two years, you will probably have bought a few games, which are consistently cheaper on PC than console (steam sales and what not), so you will definitly have saved after two years.
I'm not saying I encourage building a 400$ PC. If you can put down 600-700$, you will get a much better gaming experience that will last longer than a console. I think this 400$ build was more of a proof of concept that PC is cheaper for the same performance (but it's still shitty console performance). If you take gaming any seriously, it's definitly profitable to invest an extra 200-300$ upfront so you can get a better experience overall and still end up saving money over the lifetime of the computer (which will inevitably be much longer than a console's).
***** apparently you care. id rather have a ps4 than a shitty $400 linux computer with a goodwill keyboard and mouse that can play assassins creed in 1440p but sucks in every other regard. my gaming mouse was $80+. a $5 mouse is not comparable.
good for you, just like a lot of people are just console gamers and couldnt get happier.
I know its cheaper to build a PC but im 14 with no job so my "budget" is all the money im willing to spend so if i screw up on building 1thing then im screwed for the whole pc so can someone help me find a 400-600 dollar gaming PC with at least 8gb ram and 1tb hard drive and no on board graphics i want it to come with an added on gpu
Yung stupid gamer You won't screw up. It may seem difficult but it is actually really simple, like putting LEGO together. Watch some videos and ask around for help. You'll also save a bunch of money on building your own and have a sense of accomplishment.
It's really simple. You build all computers pretty much the same. There are videos on UA-cam you can watch.
pcpartpicker.com/p/DyHxvK build with these
hey man it works excellently im also going to built it but i am from india so i'm getting these parts little costly
Yung stupid gamer May be 100 more bucks but you can overclock it = OP ASF or if you dont want to overclock its still beast. 120 GB SSD for boot = fast bootup and the 1tb for games etc.
ironicly I had a ps4 ad before this video
Great video, thank you!
Just a question, is this setup suitable for a Linux PC focused on Digital Painting(Krita, GIMP), Coding(LAMP, Git) and low-end video editing(UA-cam Videos, screencast)?
Thanks for any advice.
I just don't understand why someone would ever spend 400$ on a potato that will be obsolete in a year or two max. Why not spend 200$ more and get a way better experience?
Why play every game on low, maybe medium, when you can play all of them of medium and even high settings with decent framerates?
For 400$ might as well buy a PS4. At least it saves you some headaches.
AuSapling Yeah man, definitely.
And I can run Crysis 3 at 60fps on ultra on a potato Intel HD Graphics 4000.
All those devs are just lying cunts. You can TOTALLY run every game on a 130$ GPU and a potato CPU. Consoles are just so horrible they can't even run games on low.
PC Mustard Race always wins
You don't have to "upgrade" a console every year or two. So why is PC an exception?
am i being trolled
You're delusional m8
I am pretty sure AMD FX-4200 came out at the end of 2012 so that makes it 2 years old. Well, 2 years later and it is still kicking ass.
Just my opinion: What about demanding games to compare a quality of a ps4 or xbox one? You come very close and I have a great respect to you guys but you forgot about BLU-RAY drive, WIFI device and at least one WIRELESS GAMING CONTROLLER because to be fair BOTH CONSOLES come with those as STANDARD so we're looking at another $80-$120. I am NOT a console lover I love PC's and in fact I have a great EXPERIENCE if it comes to screwing motherboards and other pc components together. Just look it up what I have build... Great job guys but for the price you pay for consoles (ps4 & xbox one) there is no matching pc yet...
+TheDrewSaga all I have mentioned is a legitimate argument because consoles come with: game controller, wifi and bluray player AS STANDARD so not including it in a PC BUILD is just not FAIR! For instance what if you want to watch bluray movie on your pc? Bluray it is not required to play PC games I agree but it is included with consoles just out of the box. If we are building CONSOLE equivalent pc then we MUST INCLUDE 1 controller, wifi and bluray. Otherwise we shouldn't talk about PRICE AT ALL. Just my opinion FAIR=FAIR. Think about it. And on another hand specs of this build is far far away from gfx you can get on PS4 - i3+gtx750 is just not good enough and in most new games just lags. Running new games at lowest settings is just not even comparable to PS4 or even XBOX ONE.
+TheDrewSaga yea but you run into the issue of some games not running on 2 core systems and needing at least 4. thats the issue with the i3
+Jazzmanpac blu ray? get it if oyu want it. WiFi device? they exist? Oh yeah, my PC is plugged into my router so I dont need one, but get it if you need it again. Wireless controller? I barely use my controller, and thats literally a £10 360 coontroleer (wired)
Mr.Sheepington
what he is saying is a brand new ps4 or xbox one comes with those in box.
volkswagenginetta yes but you dont really need to pay for those for PC
So, you want me to buy a bunch of cheap parts, "build" the computer, HOPE I did not do something wrong in the building process, all so I can "kill" my console? Very lame.
I just built a $4,000 Asus/Corsair dual GPU-in-SLI computer just to see if I could and I am now feeling pretty stupid since it just sits there next to me while I do EVERYtHiNG I want on my Xbox One.
BTW, $100 for Windows SHOULD be included in your pricing, but that defeats the purpose of your console bashing, right?
gr8 b8 m8 i r8 1/8
You mean it MUST be windows and if it is on reddit it only cost 8$ so...
Lol 4,000... I build pc's for people, and I built a custom workstation for a gentleman that works at Dreamworks rendering animations. And it didnt touch $3,000. Nice troll.
Lool maybe it has like 200 tb ssd in raid 10000 lol
My Amazon receipts will back up what I spent, and that does not include the triple monitor setup. You guys are missing the point. My built computer runs and looks awesome, which is why I spent so much, but it does not get used 1/10 the time my Xbox One gets used.
Is what you listed ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING you need to build the PC itself?
(OS, mouse, keyboard, and monitor aside obviously)
Intel Pentium? hell no.. atleast an I5 for gaming bro
That Pentium G3258 is a beast.
I can run most new games at the highest settings with the pentium and a 750 Ti
Don't underestimate the G3258.
lol? one of my friends plays with a CELERON g1820 and a r7 260x and still can play everything on med/high
Axecution Celeron sucks gigantic ass for gaming.
Hello, I am fairly new to the gaming scene. This video is a year old and I know PC parts are a bit more advanced. Can someone help me find a PC for about $460 that can play video games quite decently?
Sure
Google "PCMasterRace The Crusher build". Costs around $430 total.
the same power supply, find a case you like, 8gb Kingston hyper X Fury ddr3 ram, b85m-d2v, i5 4460, r9 380x or gtx 970. Try buy all the parts used on Craigslist or something.
Thanks guys
an FX-6300 coupled with a RX 460 2GB will be good enough.
Not worth it, i'm moving to console next year.. All popular games on PC are always dota, csgo and indies... Don't talk about exclusives, i'm so jealous that console gets better exclusives while us keep on getting indies and strategy FPS
Gr8 b8 m8
Don't let the door hit you on your way out.
You'd do yourself some good if you actually researched PC exclusives before making a decision.
Just another one of the fake PC gamers in the UA-cam comments trying bait
I know I freaken hate when people talk about how PC has so many exclusives and how much better they are. I have a pretty descent gaming machine and I know for a fact that there is a lot of exclusives, but none like Uncharted, The Order 1886, Infamous ect.. lol not even close to that kind of quality.
The CPU that I recommend for this build is the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550, as it has better performance per core and can be overclocked up to 4.2 GHz. You can get one on Ebay for about $40.00.
Pc vs Console explained: who fucking cares.
Lazy according to this guy = needless effort spent messing around with a PC instead of playing games.
Thank you! I agree! WHO FUCKING CARES!!!!
musicalbacon2 do you play DayZ with ultra graphics? Or Battlefield 4 with maxed out frostbite particles? In my opinion I don't really care what my PC specs are, other people might think otherwise, but I don't think you need a beastly PC to play anything.
+WolfyVolume EXACTLY! WHY DO PEOPLE CARE SO MUCH!
+musicalbacon2
*Lazy according to this guy refined = needless spending more money on a less efficient platform because of the unwillingness to actually learn about the products that you're buying.
All my friends have consoles but i made two kids move to pc.😊👍👍
First off, you don't play on consoles because of the graphics. You play on
consoles for the games you can't play on PC. Doesn't matter which is
better there are still pros and cons to both. Some cons (troubleshooting
for problems and maintenance and ect...) may not be that much of big
deal to a tech head like yourself but for the average person it can be a
hassle or just annoying after awhile. When you have the passion for it then it's not a problem.
For $300-400, I still rather buy a console. If I want a gaming computer,
I'll do it right the first time get something worth around $1000 instead.
I don't see the point in doing that. I done it before and I regretted it. Go big or go home with pc gaming IMO.

weeb? Another person whom doesn't even know what a weeb is. FYI liking jrpgs and anime doesn't make you a weeb.

On the GA-78LMT-USB3, the revision 5.0 and 6.0 boards are a lot more aesthetically pleasing than the one shown in this vid.
So if someone were to bash on the consoles its acceptable, but if someone were to bash on PCs it is ignorant? Wow I have been watching this channel for years and I never thought you guys would this much of bigots.Lost a long time subscriber today
I don't really see a reason to bash PC.
Most people that bash PC as a platform don't know what they are talking about
Doesn't excuse the fact that not allowing a side to defend itself is ignorant. I support both as denying one would be blocking yourself from experiencing both sides and why stop yourself from a form of entertainment.
RyfalRaptor10 There is a difference between bashing and defending
Thats true, so give consoles a chance to defend themselves and PCs theres. Or just experience both and leave it at that
RyfalRaptor10 I give consoles a chance to defend themselves, but most reasons ''consoles are better'' are just opinions about their platform or completely false. I experience both btw
Wow, I didn't know that a keyboard, mouse and Windows license could just appear out of thin air like that.
There is way too much typical PC gamer elitism here. PC gaming is cool and there are a lot of perks to it but if you're literally incapable of thinking of a reason for why someone would want a console over a PC... sorry, but you're an elitist, and absolutely no one likes that (despite how much you guys like to kid yourselves as you pat each other on the back).
+Daniel King Absolutely agree, people like to forget about all the things they still need to pay for, and act like sales are the normal price for pc parts. This video doesn't include the three things you mentioned, doesn't include a monitor or speakers or headset, the extra fans they pretty much WILL need, no DVD drive, anti-virus, mouse-pad, that rig is going to need a hard drive, etc.
It's pretty easy to build a budget PC when you forget half the things you need, and pick going-out-of-business-deal-of-a-lifetime sales, and ignore shipping cost from like 10 different dealers. Then of course none of your stuff will show-up on time, probably won't be what you thought it would, and might not work somewhere in the build.
Try all you want PC master race, but your entry fee is much more realistically $800 minimum.
+Bryan Bergh The only thing I would say is that it's not quite fair to demand that they include a monitor/speakers/etc. The question is whether or not you can acquire a machine to game on that can be plugged into a pre-existing entertainment set up. Granted, everyone has a TV but not everyone has a (good) monitor.
Daniel King I agree, and was thinking that as I was typing my comment, someone might use the argument that they'll use their TV or old headset, or pull a few parts from their old PC, unless its their first gaming rig. And if they can, and there is nothing wrong with that, hopefully it will save some cash.
The real issue is these sales people keep using to defend the PC, and the frugal choice of hardware; it just adds up to an underpowered PC with unrealistic expectations. Top all that off with, if you're looking for a budget PC, chances are it's your first gaming PC; it's going to be your first build, so you won't know what to look for or how to put it together. Sure you can look up some tutorials or get a friend, but I think it's going to land most people in Best Buy picking up a tower PC and if they are a little knowledged, ordering a graphics card to boot.
+Bryan Bergh a decent cpu with $200-300 gpu ps4 is worthless already
+Franz KEN How?
Are you gonna bash on me because I'm too poor and I have to have consoles to play next gen games?
+The Maybe N00b yes
+The Maybe N00b Actually the current generation of consoles are more expensive in the long run, especially if you want to play online, sure the upfront may be cheaper, but when you have to pay monthly for online access, and most games cost 40 to 60 bucks, where as on the PC online access is free, if you wait for steam sales you can get big game titles for $20 or less. Moral of the story consoles are technically more expensive than PC over the life of the system.
+airship adventures yeah but in my opinion much more confortable with my 43" and a good couch with some friends online OR next to me pc is much more like a solo nerd shit
Jodoin Maxime totally cant do that with a PC, no thats only consoles because consoles are so cutting edge....
airship adventures pay less now and more later is too enticing for the feeble minded console peasants
with all the new-gen i3's having hyper thread, would you recommend them now?
you forgot to add the price of buying Windows
you can buy windows 10 for $30
CRiTr you can buy windows for free
+hello world not anymore
+the kings of pi Ueah, you can still torrent it.
oh
Every time someone says pc master race I cringe a little...
PC MASTER RACE
PC MASTER RACE
Saying "PC master race" is just a joke IMO...Fun to goof around about. Nothing wrong with consoles for exclusive titles and hanging with IRL friends, but other wise just being lazy if you don't build a PC.
PC MASTER RACE... GTFO IF YOU LIKE WASTING YOUR MONEY ON INFERIOR HARDWARE
because if thats the case... You belong in the hands of a tie stroking suit.
Nah seriously its hilarious and pathetic when people argue whether console or pc is superior. But recently the "PC master race" comments are getting annoying and just idiotic.
Hold your horses. Did you say that Intel core i3's aren't true quad core? AMD barely make any processors that rent dual core. Please don't start n AMD vs Intel war and also Intel processors will fit into a build that is less than £300 as I have done it myself and I am selling it on ebay. AMD is for extremely budget builds such as consoles but if you want true quad core spend the extra £40 and get yourself a processor that wont bottleneck if you try and put a graphics card higher than a 750ti. Come on guys AMD is for extreme budget only. They use AMD in consoles because they cost roughly £50. Also I'm not trying to say AMD is terrible but just hear me out, AMD say that they have eight core processors, let me face you in the correct direction. AMD eight core processors are dual core with 4 threads in each core, so you get the performance of a dual core. Even my crappy Toshiba satellite pro destroys it in processing power. Intel atoms from 3 years ago are faster. This is due to the lack of next gen engineering in the creation of AMD Cpu's. Use AMD for your living room console knockoff, nothing more.
running an fx6300 gtx950 and I still play triple a titles in medium to high 60 fps even while streaming. the hepta core processor really helps. it might be outdated but its definitely not useless. now the fx 4300 is useless
+TheDrewSaga well, the i3 4330, for example, has 2 cores but 4 threads, and 1 thread is stronger than 2 amd cores (LOL), no but srsly, intel's threads are almost as strong as cores, so i call i3's 3,5 cores lol
+A Helpful Person you again? I never said they are equivelant to cores, i said they wotk like cores, so they are weaker kind of coded cores
***** you really dont know anything...the guy who says you can play on 3 monitors 4k with a 750ti...
***** still, IT CANNOT PLAY AT 3 MONITORE
Very informative. I do realize this is an older video but I appreciate the work and info.
plus operating system, plus keyboard/mouse = more than $400
Richard Inks Windows 10 is free. All of these parts together end up costing a bit less than $400, so you could add a keyboard+mouse and keep it at under $400.
Misterfox20 windows 10 is only free as an upgrade. If youre building a pc, there is no OS. Windows 10 home is $119
Richard Inks "Upgrading" just means getting the ISO and inputting a valid Windows 7 or 8 key. How many people don't have a Windows 7 or 8 device at home already?
Misterfox20 ummm I'll take a wild guess here but uhhhh...the person building a pc instead of buying a console which this video was intended for???
Richard Inks Most houses have a computer already- for general internet, entertainment and social media needs. They don't have a gaming-capable computer, however. These people usually consider getting a console because they believe it is the most economical choice. However, since they can use their current computer's activation key to get a free Copy of windows 10 and build a PC that outperforms the consoles for the same price or less, those people would be mistaken.
soooooo... did u actually build it? and test it? because bullshit that runs ps4 games at 1080p 60fps. and those brand choices... sounds hell unreliable to me. like PCs in general actually.
lmao u dont know nothing probably ps4 and xbox one has some china shit parts so they can manage to sell it for 300-400 u do know u can buy a 300 dollar gpu right and shit on consoles
God you are always trying to kill something in the gaming industry.
I'm extreme. ;)
Tek Syndicate I know, I love it. I am about to go buy 2 980's. I always send my non master race friends over to your kill "insert bad gaming topic here" videos, they are starting to learn.
Connor Harvey Great cards to be honest!
you forgot about adding a controller/mouse+keyboard to the bill, or are you going to use mental power to make inputs?
I myself have a ps4, although I plan on switching to PC this October. Any tips on the parts I should buy??? My budget is $550.
does your choice of motherboard effect what cpu processor you buy
I recently finished building my first gaming PC :)
CASE: Cougar Challenger Mid Tower Case
MOBO: Asus B85-Pro Gamer Socket 1150 ATX Motherboard
CPU: I5 4690
GPU: Galax GeForce SOC GTX 980
RAM: 16GB Kingston Hyper X Fury 1600MHz (2x8GB)
PSU: 750W COOLER MASTER V-series
SSD: 128GB Adata SSD
HDD: 2TB WD Green
KBD & Mouse: CM Storm Devastator Bundle
It was such a great experience learning as I was building!
dope, thanks. i have all next gen consoles and have always played PC as well but started building a PC now with better parts.
The vid was pretty informative, but can you do all this but with a all in one pc? I've always wanted to learn how to do this stuff, but have very limited space so having all that wouldn't be a good thing for me
Hi guys I just bought a Corsair CX Series 850W SemiModular Power and I would like to know what kind of motherboard do I need cause I installed my power supply in my old motherboard and didn't work .
also, if I were to go with the Asus H81 with Intel g3258, would it be compatible with all the components on this computer?
Can you use both open air and blower GPU cards togheter in SLI?
I'm a console gamer would like to get into pc build eventually Quick question what do you guys think about Xbox Scorpio how good can a 6teraflop game look
FLOPS don't determine how good a game will look lol. That's entirely up to the resolution and frame-rate as well as the general graphics of the game. The word FLOPS is an acronym for "FLoating point operations per second". The more you have the faster your system and games will run. 6 teraflops is really good for a console though.
Even though it sounds very good, you should always expect less than its said to deliver, since consoles have been fucking up a lot lately. I myself have a PS4 and I've never been more disappointed with a console in my life. Seems like it'll die out soon, so a good pc build or investment would be a better idea. This is just my experience though
+SD - Card
cool thanks
last year - I had somebody build me a pc and, it has the same motherboard and processor ( no graphic card ) . upset to see what $500 got me. had to upgrade it a couple months later, gtx 950 - 3 fans - new case - 600 watt power supply.
Wondering if I should upgrade to a fx 8320e ?
Is a 2GB GPU a must? I saw another 300-400$ built and he said 1GB GPU? Does the GB matter or the GPU brand/quality matter?
Hey Teksyndicate im trying to get into pc gaming but im kinda on a budget and i have an old 2007 dell inspiron 530 and im thinking about upgrading it so this is what i was thinking,
Motherboard:Gigabyte GA-Z97-HD3 ATX LGA1150
Cpu:Intel Pentium G3258 3.2GHz Dual-Core and possible overclock it to like 4.0ghz
Gpu: EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB 1.18ghz
Power supply: EVGA 500W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply
Ram:4GB of ramaxel 1600mhz
Im mainly going to be playing games like Battlefield, Titanfall , League of legends , team fortress 2 , and possible Dota 3. Tell me if anything would be bottle necked or if i wouldn't have enough ram or something like that
Tek Syndicate have you made a more recent version of this video? I would love to be able to build out a cheap system for the living room. Also - any thoughts on novice folks like me buying an off the shelf steam box?
Would the FX6300 be a good alternative to the Athlon? Only $10 more expensive on amazon and has 6 cores over 4
Moe H yeah
Hey Tek I am looking into replacing my laptop with a gaming pc and was wondering if it was a better deal to build or to buy a pc. Some websites say for sure buying one is a better deal because companies can buy the hardware in bulk and straight from suppliers for cheaper but like every youtube video and other websites say its obviously cheaper to build it yourself. I dont want a bad computer obviously but im not super picky when it comes to customization but im willing to build a pc if it will be better money wise. I would love your or someone elses professional opinion to help me figure out what is best for me! thanks again!
hey dude thank you so much this entire build. It came out to $405 and i was able to get a Geforce Gtx 950 with it. Thanks a lot man!
P.S, can you use 2 graphics cards? i have a Geforce GTS 250 coming in the mail and i want to know.
awesome video I love it I'm going to do this soon for my brother when he gets home the only thing I don't agree with his overclocking your CPU for your first build I think that's more for the late intermediate person
Question, this is a nice build for the budget, but if I wanted 1 TB HD instead of the 320 gb, what would you recommend? great video btw
+Juan Sanchez you can get a hitachi desktar 1tb 32cache HDD for about 40 bucks.
+PokeFighter Jr hey thanks a lot man, I'm new to the pc builds so any bit of information helps
+PokeFighter Jr hey thanks a lot man, I'm new to the pc builds so any bit of information helps
+Juan Sanchez what DVD drive would you recommend?
Juan Sanchez theres no real need to recommend one. Just pick one that cost around 15-20 bucks and you should be fine. Personally, i dont use dvd drives cause everything is streamable and downloadable, so its not necessary to get even when building a PC.
So I'm new to the gaming world, but what's the difference between the two. I tried reading online but I still don't understand, but I still want to start gaming.
Buying a FX-4100 with a broken heat sink, case, two case fans, a gtx 210, a good ASUS motherboard (I think it was) a 240 gb ssd, and a CD drive prebuilt from Craigslist, I installed a open box refurb GTX 750 ti (Which I bought for $99 from Newegg, and then an AMD AM3+ socket heatsink bracket, and the Windows came preinstalled but unactivated Windows 10 Pro. I bought the craigslist broken PC from craigslist for $160, I used an Old ass monitor I had laying around thee house but you could buy one for $20, and after taxes and shipping the GTX 750 Ti were $120 or so. Estimated total: $300, and I have pictures. I gave this to my PC to my best friend after he fell in love with playing Rocket League on my custom PC. From the point he told me he wanted to get into to PC gaming, to the time he went home with the computer was three days. It was crazy. But then two days later I had to bring the GTX 750 ti over when it shipped (the bracket came much sooner) and install it. So he gamed on a GTX 210 for like two or three days I think, and it actually ran Killing Floor, Call of Duty World at War, Rocket League, and others on low settings at 20 fps or lower. Surprised the hell out of me. I thought he'd be lucky to play Terraria. All hail the master race, I've inducted my best friend for $300 (this all happened last week, and I want to be a computer component engineer one day, or maybe just work for a Pre-built company building PCs for them. I have like 6 parts pcs, I ask people for their old broken ones all the time and recycle parts and then sell the rebuilt PCs on craigslist. Just as a hobby.
broken heat sink bracket* not the actual heatsink.
And my craigslist deal came with 16 gb ram in four RAM sticks.
DDr3, but like I said I gave this computer away. It wasn't for me. My build is a beast of its own with a 34' 1440p and a gtx 980 ti, with AMD FX-8350, soon to be two 980 tis. :)
I got the 280x but will an evga 500W still work despite doing the calculations using a Watt calculator?
Also Can a mid tower case fit the 280x or is it the motherboard (mini atx or atx) that stops the 280x from fitting.
My old PC has two issues, the hard drive is in the way and secondly the ram slot keeps getting pushed down by the graphics card (Sapphire 280x) causing the ram to come out of place.
Any ideas?
what kid of mouse are you using on this video? Good video by the way.
How does my machine stand up to this PC, Im running a Nentendo Famicon. Still working as was from day 1
I love how everyone forgets about buying the operating system, keyboard, mouse and monitor - and speakers if your monitor doesn't have one. This build is around £400 with the things stated above. you can buy a console with 2 games for free for £250.
Thank you I'm glad I'm not the only person who realizes this you can build a $400 system but cheapest decent 1080p gaming monitor is $250 then add $30 for keyboard and $20 for mouse $60 for headphones and $75 for speakers=$$835 for a cheap budget build
just came to this channel, subbed, really enjoy the content
omg please i want this series back and im sure a lot of people do! roast more consoles
i got radeon r7 370 for the same price as gtx 750 ti and the radeon is better acording to all benchmarks...
btw what about core 2 quad procesors?
can you make a video about upgrading a exising computer using intel parts. I have a desktop with a i5, and a GeForce GT 630 graphics card. i would like to begin upgrading it a bit more but not to sure how to carry over the exising operating system and so fourth. Thanks!
K sweeney Get a GTX 750 ti. Doesn't need a connector from PSU and would be compatible with your existing power supply and build.
*hugs all his electronics*
My consoles stand proud next to my PC tower.
All these games are great!
Power, to the game!
Good video btw.
Started out with a bare bones PC and have slowly been upgrading it over the past year. Total of about $900 over the course of the year and it's surely worth the patience.
(just installed a EVGA GTX 960 FTW and damn son)
Guys I have a question, I am going for my first pc/Gaming pc. I was wondering if this computer with upgrades to hardware of course would serve its purpose. HP XW4600 WorkStation Core 2 Quad Q9400 2.66GHz / 4GB / 250GB. 8gb of ram would be added, and more memory at least. What type of graphics card would you recommend. 100-200 price range for the card. Thank you.
hey I was wondering if this setup can handle World of Warcraft and Rust?
i have that same mobo. and its says the standard for the ram clocks is 1333Mhz. So why did you go with 1600Mhz? Does the ram really make a difference?
2:40 to 2:48 SO TRUE. Dont get an i3. Athlons and fxs will match or outperform and they have more cores. If you are going Intel, get i5 and up
does it count if you upgraded your old pc $400 ? changed graphics card from a geforce gtx 750 ti to a Geforce gtx 960 ftw 2gb and added ddr2 4gb of extra memory. this was my first pc . the processor duo e8400 @3.00 Ghz .
I really want to build or buy a under 500 gaming pc, but my Internet connection sucks, and my room is so far away from my router or whatever you call it. What should I do?
My brother got a Cyberpower PC for his birthday becuase he couldn't play games on his Laptop. (HE HAS A QUAD-CORE]
It seems that when he trys to play games like Fallout 3, Fallout new vegas, Skyrim, Borderlands 2... and LOTS of those kinds of games, he gets very awful performance even on ultra-low settings. but i got Grand Theft Auto V and when i installed it on his computer, it runs great on low graphics.
Should i not get a Quad-Core for the pc i am making?
+gabe garrett Just because he's got a quadcore cpu doesn't mean that the CPU is what's causing the performance issues. Even though I have no idea what the specs are for your brothers computer, I can nearly guarantee that his problem is the video card. In short, quad core CPU's are the best gaming CPU's out there right now.
Hmm, ok. I just don't know much about computers yet
+gabe garrett It's because your brother got it from an overpriced company. Tell me his specs, and I can bet you i can make one for much cheaper.
+MiniiNinja For the record Cyberpower isn't NEARLY as overpriced as some of the other desktop makers I've seen.
LinusMLGTips Cyberpower is probably the most overpriced Company there is out there.
System box I'm finally able to save up for in time for Christmas: i3-4160 (despite being a dual core, it still out performs a lot of older AMD quad core parts at stock speeds for not much money), EVGA 2GB GTX 750 Ti SC (small but mighty, quiet and very affordable with PhysX support), Zalman CNPS 9900 Max red LED CPU cooler (up for a future upgrade to an unlocked i7 while still looking gorgeous), Gigabyte Z97X-UD3H-BK (massive overclocking and upgrade potential down the line with all the candy without paying way more for a high end gaming board, and it looks sooo good too), 4x4GB Crucial Tactical Tracer DDR3 CL8 1600MHz RAM (to fully populate all the memory slots with reliable, high performance memory that's also got red/green LED blinky lights for only a little more than the regular stuff (could have done with just a couple of sticks up front, but once DDR4 fully takes over the market within the next couple of years, getting another matching pair of the DDR3 Tactical Tracers then when I might actually need them would be next to impossible, which is why I'm getting it all now)), Corsair CX600M (for reliability and upgrade headroom with an i7 and maybe a Pascal/Voltair successor to a 2nd generation Maxwell 4GB GTX 960 down the line), Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200rpm HDD with 64MB cache (hoping to get a Crucial MX200 500GB M.2 SSD to go with it later), couple of Lite-On DVD burners (1 set for Region 2 DVDs, the other for Region 1s) all cased within a Fractal Design Arc Midi R2 Windowed with replacement Xigmatek CLF-F1455 purple LED fans (great cooling performance and looks with significantly less noise than the equivalent Corsairs). Already got a copy of Windows 8.1 ready to stick on it. Primarily for full HD gaming with older titles (which are also much cheaper than current titles) and to learn programming on. Currently running on an Athlon 64 X2 4800+ on a MSI Neo 2 nForce 3 Ultra with 4x1GB Kingston HyperX DDR CL2 400MHz RAM and a MSI 256MB Radeon HD 2600 Pro copper heatpipe passively cooled AGP(!?!) that's still running on Windows XP for both legacy apps and because it doesn't like Windows 7 and above much without having to disable one of the cores of the Athlon to get the graphics to work. So I figure that for my forthcoming, and badly wanted, new system, if I can only afford a new PC about once every 6 to 9 years, then for this time round it's got to be one that's reliable, easy to maintain and upgrade for relatively little money, runs well, lasts for the long term, and, as I'm going to be stuck with it on my desk for that length of time, it's also got to have form as well as function, i.e. it's got to look good while doing what it does. Doing it all in time for Christmas for less than £800, inclusive of 20% VAT.
P.S. Still going to be running the old PC side by side with the new one using a Belkin KVMA and a USB switch between them for my monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers and joypad. The old one's also for back up purposes should the new one require maintainance that takes it offline for a time.

I'd love to get a career doing PC building, testing, reviewing, etc. I've been a console gamer myself most of my gaming life, and I never did have an actual desktop to upgrade, but doing things like this just seems like it's always gonna be interesting and hardwork will pay off. I respect that. Computer engineers, is that what we call them?
great review, however you could do with warmer climates.
