    You guys did amazing job with the hibiscus! I'm definitely looking forward to adding Edge of Night. Plus now I'm thinking about Spinderella as well. Lol You both has seen my yard, and i can definitely use it with all the other hibiscus I have.

      Thank you for watching and for the kind words! We have 3rd variety we are growing, but it got started about 3 weeks after these, so we will post about that one soon too! It's also a brand new variety that will be available in garden centers beginning next year!

    In Hawai’I, we admire these lovely, vibrant flowers. I like to visit Kapi’olani Hibiscus and Rose Garden in Kapi’olani Park on the island of ‘Oahu.
    Hawaiians adopted the hibiscus as the official territorial flower in the 1920s. In 1988, Hawai’i specifically selected the Hibiscus brackenridgei as the official state flower.

    It's April in Elk Grove Ca and the weather is starting to warm up in the 80s . We planted our summerific edge of night last fall and just yesterday we see our first green life peeking out. When do I start watering?

    • @MrGardeners
      @MrGardeners  Рік тому

      Hello Donna! Thank you for asking, and we’re happy to help. If you’re starting to see that the plant is pushing new growth, we recommend that you begin watering. Hibiscus, in general, like a lot of water. Just be sure that they don’t have “Wet Feet” or sit in water, as it will lead to rotting of the crown of the plant, or the root system. Hope you have a wonderful season with your hibiscus this year! 🤞🏼

    Hello, I love both of them, but Edge of Night is my favorite, the foliage is dark and mysterious and the bloom color compliments it. It's so beautiful, I need that in my life :) Where did you purchase the watering nozzle, it's quite unique, I've never seen anything like that before. Thanks guys. Keep up the good work.

    Hey there, thanks for the video! I really appreciate all the time and effort you put into making these! I am interested in getting a hibiscus for my garden this year. I really love the contrast of the dark foliage and pink color on the “edge of night”. I have to know, what kind of hose extension/sprayer did you water that with?? I really like how the water flowed out of that hose you used. Looking for something new at the moment. I’ve been trying to get ready for the spring season coming up, lol! Ordering Biotone, MG water soluable fertilizer (which works just as good as PW btw and it’s a third of the price), parts for my irrigation system, you know the drill! And it’s cool to see you live in Tampa. I currently live in New Orleans but I’m originally from North Tampa(Spring Hill, New Port Richey area) and I lived in Tampa for many years.. happy gardening!🌻

      Hi, Nola! Thank you so much for following along and for reaching out. We have never been to New Orleans, but it is definitely in our list of places we want to visit. We love Edge of Night too, the contrast with the leaves and flowers is amazing. Absolutely, that hose nozzle is my favorite! We got it at Home Depot and it’s called “Metal Bubbler” I think is less than $10 and we have had it for years, so it works really well. Happy gardening to you too 🪴we are so excited to share everything we have been working on 🙌🏻

      Thank you! They should be even bigger and full of more blooms this year now that they have gotten a chance to get acclimated to their new location.

    I just bot an Edge of Night locally, it had a single stem that was cut back last year and this year's growth is a single stem to about 3' tall in the nursery pot with maybe 8 blossoms.
    This plant has no evidence of becoming a shrub - its structure looks like a single stem Asian Lilly you have to stake.
    Is my plant going to become a shrub which is what I want???

    Can I use liquid fertilizer as well with this plant?

    • @MrGardeners
      @MrGardeners  Рік тому +1

      Definitely! We recommend using a slow release fertilizer at the time of planting, and then supplement with water soluble periodically throughout the season. Otherwise, you can also sprinkle more slow release around the drip line of the plant later in the season.

    Did you get any bugs with your hibiscus?

    • @rollaa.4961
      @rollaa.4961 8 місяців тому

      Hi. I live in Maryland, zone 8b-a. I have Edge of Night. I purchased almost two years ago. It's planted in clay like soil in full sun. Watering everyday. I never had issues with bugs or anything else. 🙂 Happy planting!

    • @MrGardeners
      @MrGardeners  8 місяців тому

      We don't typically have an issue with bugs, but we have a robust variety of insect visitors that naturally maintain the bugs in the garden. Wasps cary away the excess caterpillars and the like. We do use RoseRX if we have an unusual breakout of a pest, but not usually an issue for us!
