    Very good video, thanks.
    If you don't have her misting system and just want to root a few hardy hibiscus, here is a good method.
    Instead of taking a cutting after the plant is big and setting it back some, just push off one of the shoots in early spring. Let it get 8 or 10 inches tall and push from the side to break it off from the mother plant without damaging it. Each plant produces several shoots and this won't affect the final size of the mother plant. Sometimes this new shoot will already have a few small roots on it. Just plant it like a normal rooted cutting and keep moist. The success rate is much better.
    Getting that node on the bottom of the plant works on many other varieties, like crepe myrtles. They usually put a lot of suckers on the bottom of a large plant. Just pull them off and get that bottom node and root like you normally do and the success rate greatly improves.

      I've had luck with both the perennial and the hardwood annuals, just using old glass or plastic bottles, but I want to move to hydroponics. She has a great list of products under the video description. I have seeds from hibiscus plants I've cross pollinated and hope there's a good video out in UA-cam land on hibiscus seed starting as iwanna see what this Frankenstein ie Me has created. On a side note, just make sure when taking cuttings you follow her technique as it's the same that use but without the rooting hormones as I don't have good luck using them. Hope that helps. Eddie J. Thank you! Your tutorial was very informative and good. I wondeted why othets cut off so many healthy leaves. It never struck me that they were sucking up energy! I've never seen a hibiscus flower the size of my head but the tootie fruitie one that I have has 3 different colored flowers because they braided 3 plants together to make 1 tree. Do you know how they do that? Anyway, again, thsnks for a great tutorial!!! God bless.🌺🌱❤💚

    • @marcelinanoss8825
      @marcelinanoss8825  Рік тому +2

      thanks,, there is another issue with the leaves as well,, people think, oh the leaves are need for photosynthesis, but we are talking about a cutting, not a big plant, and the most important part is that leaves respirate and lose water in the process which dries the cutting out faster. One leaf is all that is needed for the cutting. We want ALL the energy and hormones to create new roots, thats it! :)

    Rose of Sharon does not propagate in the water at all, it will for sure rot. I rooted my rose of Sharon cuttings successfully by just using regular garden soil with a bit of fine sand, and then I covered the cutting with a bottle that was cut in half to create a greenhouse effect.
