- Jake Johnson loves to act, but he has no desire to be in the limelight. He'd much rather sit in the back seat on a fun job and enjoy the ride than hold an entire franchise on his shoulders.

I kinda got the impression that everyone involved in that show thought it was Zooey's show for like, the first few episodes (hence the name), but fairly quickly the showrunners/the network/whoever realised that the rest of the cast (but ESPECIALLY Jake Johnson and Max Greenfield) were equally talented actors (arguably moreso), and it quickly became an ensemble comedy.
Zooey was got too. Not in the first season, but as the show progressed she too found her comedic timing.
@@adityapathania1106 Oh, yeah, she was great (I actually think she's very good in the first season, it's just that her character was more awkward then) I just meant that the other characters were very much treated as secondary at first, but that quickly changed
And yet, he was the best thing in New Girl.
Him unclogging the kitchen sink is the moment I would love him.
He and Winston were the most hilarious!

Jake Johnson is steadily getting to be one of the best actors in Hollywood, he just does it for the love of the game. Much respect.
He does it right. He's famous/successful enough to be picky with his projects, but not so famous that he can't just have a normal private life.
He is so wise.

Jake Johnson has discovered a key thing that most actors never figure out -- being the "star" and the driving force of a show or movie or franchise can drain you because you're caught up in a whole Hollywood machine. Jake appreciates observing and interacting from a special vantage point that's just off to the side of the spotlight, and he's probably a better performer because of it.
While New Girl seems like it was initially conceived as a lead female character and then the other actors in supporting roles, it morphed over time into an ensemble cast. The creators were smart to flesh out those other characters, and all of those actors (especially Jake Johnson) delivered great performances.
Sophia Rodriguez it’d be funny if in a couple years, we see him doing all the things he said he’d pass on

Jake is such a humble kind person. He’s becoming my one of my favorite actors bc of his own personal character and how he approaches his work. I love it

It’s refreshing to hear someone be content with their work and the role they play in life (quite literally in an actor’s case). We’re always conditioned to want more, and it’s exhausting. He loves his craft but he doesn’t want the responsibility that comes with being a megastar, and I get it!

Oh yeah, the boys were the best part... unfortunately I couldnt stand Zooeys characters acting but those boys were ridiculous and I lol'd when they would bring Ferguson into a plot. Super funny ensemble
This is so inspirational. In a time where we are brainwashed to push until we're number one, here's an awesome guy telling us that it's ok to not want all that pressure. I've always preferred being the one next to the one in charge and felt that was somehow wrong but never knew why. Thank you Jake Johnson for your honesty.

These are the guys I like to watch. The "Working Man's Actor." They do it because it is their job, their profession. They do it for the love of the work, not for the fame and publicity. I like him currently in Stumptown.
I feel like his approach to costarring holds a deeper truth about life in general...
Best interviewers I've ever seen anywhere: Sam Jones of the off camera show, and Sean Evans of the Hot Ones. These two people seem so humble, kind, intelligent and so interested in the interviewees, they find out the best stories the guests have. Sam and Sean also make the best questions based on their extensive research of their guests. Absolutely amazing and a joy to watch.

He's so great in Stumptown! It didn't take long for the audience to really sympathize with his character. I mean, we all love Cobie, but with the inclusion of Jake Johnson, it gives the show so much warmth and heart that it gives the show real foundation. The other shows on NBC are meh, sorry...but I knew Stumptown would be so great. I watched the first three with my 75 year old dad and he was like, "when does this show come one again?" lol. When you can appeal to a wide variety of ages...you've got the makings of a great show. All the best, Jake!
Nick Miller Nick Miller... almost a lawyer. From the first episode, I loved Nick. Everybody was obsessed with Schmidt (he IS an awesome character, but Nick was my favourite).
And I also respect a LOT Jake Johnson. He's down to earth and so talented. He does it for the fun of it.
I've loved Jake Johnson for a long time, but wow, this interview has taken that love to another level. He's so damn interesting.

Jake Johnson is the utility player of Hollywood. Infield, outfield, DH, catcher, doesn't matter. He gets on base and is always psyched to be at the show.
Hes actually so spot on. The spotlight isnt on you, you get more freedom. Its like in nascar when youre just behind the first place car and you get that speed boost that takes you to the next level. Its genius.

Dude has no idea the reason i watched "new girl" was him. What a fun and funny guy and lots of it come, im sure, from improv, from sheer feeling. And I think a great deal of himself gets delivered through his characters. I like this guy.

I know exactly how he feels. I used to tour year round with some decent bands on bass, and I took jobs based on whether or not I would enjoy getting to hear the guitarists or drummer play. It didnt matter about what we played or the genre, only that I got to stay in the back and enjoy the music while being part of it.
