  • Yes, you can hem your pants and skirts quickly with a sewing machine and it will look like a hand-stitched hem. I used foot #5 the Blindstitch Foot. Be sure and check if your machine has a Blindstitch Foot
Here is the video for the quilt in the background

Thank you for making the blind hem stitch so clear! When I got a new machine the lady showed me how to do a blind hem, but she got me so confused I never could figure it out!

Laura thank you this is genius ! to mark the wrong side for turning the hem saves a lot of fiddle with a tape measure & the basting stitch is a great idea.

I have loved using the blind hem stitch since I figured out how to use it. The result is so professional, and I found the first time was the most trying, but after that it was very easy.

What a great video! I've often seen the diagram for the blind stitch in the manual, but had never tried it or seen it done. I have a few garments that need hemming, and now I'll definitely give it a go. Thanks so much for sharing your instructions!

I love doing the blind hemstitch on my machine. It is SOOOO much faster than sewing the hem by hand. And I never even thought about basting the hem first. I need to try adapting this technique to see if I can use it to attach the binding to my quilts.
NOPE, the way I attach the binding now, i.e., with a straight stitch, is what I am sticking with

Thank you for showing the proper way of machine hemming. I really like your top, was it a purchased item or did you make it? If you made it, can you tell where you got the fabric and the pattern? Have a wonderful 4th of July celebration.

She showed you how to do it, so now you can make a shorter version and leave the link under your comment. Some newer sewist may need a more detailed version as she has done.
