Best tutorial for blind hem. You actually slow down at the folding step which was the hardest part for me. Everyone just focuses on the stitch. Had to go through 5-6 videos till I got to this one. Thanks so much!
Thank you for providing an excellent explanation of the blind hem stitch. There are two things about the video that I especially appreciate. 1) You go into detail about what the blind hem stitch is all about. 2) You do not force the viewer to watch the repetitive and dull portions that are not essential to learning how to sew the hem. Your video is easy to understand and efficient. Fabulous!
FINALLY. After watching video after video and being confused, I finally saw exactly how to pin and fold my pants for a perfect blind hem stitch. My 90 year old father thanks you. :-) And so do I!
I have to say, I am over 50 years old and have NEVER hemmed my own pants! My mother always still did this for me -- it was like magic. I never knew how she did it. She passed away last year and I've been struggling with too long hems. Now I know how it's done, I'm going to show my daughters and granddaughters how to do this. Thank you for the easy step-by-step instructions!!
Great video. Could learn so well by your instructions. Now I am going to blind hem all of my new curtains. I can do all my dresses and hem bottom of pants as well. Never understood the last step of fold. You explained it so slowly and clearly. Thank you.
Thank you! I just hemmed my own pants (48 year-old male). My old Bernina does not have a hem setting, so I made 5 straight stitches, moved the needle over, made one stitch, moved it back, and so on.
It’s so helpful to see this on an actual pair of pants instead of a small sample scrap of fabric, the last folding back with right sides together is the confusing bit. I get it now! Thanks 🤗
This is an EXCELLENT tutorial. I have watched it every time I have had to hem pants ( I do not do it often enough to remember) and every time I am amazed at how you make it so easy and simple. It works every time for me. Thanks.
Yes, thank you for demonstrating on actual pants. I went through several videos and found no one using actual pants, just flat fabric as the previous comment stated which for a beginner made the instruction confusing! I found yours and in minutes I got it! Your instruction was superior!!!
I looked at several UA-cam’s and couldn’t understand any of them until I saw yours. Yours is the best explanation and I didn’t have any trouble the first time
Literally a lifesaver.. I tried to do this using the instruction manual on my machine and it took me hours of messing around and ripping out stitches. Finally got on UA-cam and did a search and oh my gosh. Thank you so much.
This video was just 👏 amazing. I had to hem a new pair of shorts that were too long. At 70, this old girl learned a new trick with many thanks to you! Video shots and explanations were spot on. I thank you so very much😊
"Saved my Bootay!" I just bought my first sewing machine a Viking C10 on ebay. My friend asked me to get rid of the cuffs on his dress pants, I thought it would just be a flip of the cuff, couple of stiches and done. Not quite that easy. Thank you for this video! The pants you used are almost the same as my friend's and your foot is exactly the same as mine! After I got the foot adjusted to the width of the stitch and the stitch length adjusted it went perfect! I think I broke the world record for the most pins used in a hem!
Thanks for a great job in explaining the blind hem and as mentioned elsewhere using a real pair of pants for the demo; taking your time in explanation, and a focused camera. All this makes a difference when teaching someone...Thanks again!!
I learned how to do a blind stitch from my mom when I was a teenager back in the 80’s. I have done it so infrequently since then and I’m always befuddled with the folding to the point I end up pinning and re-pinning a dozen times before I finally get it right. We just spent a LOT of money on a nice suit for my husband to wear to a very important interview. I was feeling nervous about putting the hem in these very expensive pants. We couldn’t afford for me to screw it up. I found your tutorial and I followed your instructions to the letter. The pants turned out PERFECT! Thank you SO MUCH!!
First time ever I’m daring using another foot on my Bernina! And I’ve succeeded because of your amazingly clear, right pace for me video! Thank you! And keep doing videos!
Thank you very much! I’ve only sewn one other time, some simple curtains. This time with your help it was much better. I hemmed my husbands pajamas. Thanks for taking the time to show us.
How incredibly refreshing to see two young men teach other men (or in my case, mother of a prom son) how to or refresh others how to be and dress like a gentlemen. Hats off to the pair of you -- and thank you!
This is the best to tutorial that I have seen on the blind hem stitching. You go very slow and explain it thoroughly and on actual pants. I had to keep stopping and rewinding it so I could get the proper direction of the fold right. It's the closest thing to you being here and showing me:)
My late dad was a tailor, and always did our families garment alterations, but typically we never took any indepth interest in sewing - your video on blind hems on trouser legs (UK) is excellent and gives me the confidence to have a go myself - thank you!
You did a lot of nice things that other tutorials don't. I like how you did the fold slowly, and the pink thread REALLY helped to see what was actually going one. Thank you.
Omg! Thank you! I shortened two pants for my sister for a trip she is going on to Dubai and she wanted to buy the iron on tape. I told her I’d learn to do it right and they came out perfect!
I dabble in craft sewing and a bit of quilting, but zero garment experience. I just successfully blind hemmed my son's new uniform pants, thanks to your help!
Im a college student who is stuck inside... all day... so this UA-cam channel has been my go to for learning all about sewing! Thank you for making me into (an almost) professional hemmer!
Thank you so much for the tutorial! I followed along as I worked on my husband's work slacks, and because he had worn through the existing hem (from walking on them for months), I needed a tutorial to re-make a new hem instead of so many videos out here that tell you to use the existing hem! They turned out perfect!
Thank you so much! I watched videos showing how to do this but they used flat fabrics and when I got to the real pants, I was absolutely lost. Your video is wonderful! And thank you too for speaking slowing, clearly and for not having background music! I've saved your video so I can refer to it again.
This was so easy the way you explained it!!! I was able to hem my husbands very nice dress pants for a gala event for the first time, no problems! Thanks so much for posting!
This is the best video I have seen explaining this process. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge! I was having trouble figuring out how to turn it and pin it the right way to make the stitches fall in the right place and this shows that process very clearly.
Thank you so much, I have always done hems by hand and this was my first attempt by machine. I played your video along as I sewed and my hem came out Awesome! Thanks so much for your clear, concise, and well laid out tutorial. Can't wait for others
Great job, young lady, you were able to go through the folding with great detail (the more complicated part in my opinion). Thank you.( I realize this is an older video, but it is still very very useful)
Thanks for a fantastic tutorial. The speed you teach at was perfect for me. I could stop in sections and I really appreciated you showing the actual stitch as I was using a machine, I wasn’t familiar with. Also the tucking under of the hem was well demonstrated. Hubby’s slacks are beautifully hemmed for a special occasion.
One of the best demonstrations on this technique. I have the same guide and wasn't sure as to where I should line it up. I guess the needle 1mm to left works. Thanks.
That was fabulous! Thanks for using real pair of pants as your sample, and for showing how to use the foot, my Pfaff has the same one. Awesome instruction!
I was having trouble finding good instructions for doing this stitch method, and I love that yours is so detailed! I'm hemming a gown (cause i have no time to hand sew blind stitches) for my final and i was genuinely struggling till i found this video. Much love, and thank you!
This is the best!!! Thank you! I wish the was kore light as the complicated step was a little hard to see on my phone but once I figure it out, it was easy sailing!
Thank you for your video! I could not understand the directions in my sewing machine instruction manual or in another video showing it on curtains, but your video is perfect!
Thank you so much for this easy step-by-step video. I am just starting out with sewing and I was lost on how to sew the blind hem stitch. Thank you for doing it on pants and not just a piece of fabric. That really helped me. I have a few pants for work that I need to get hemmed and this video will help me get that done! Thank you!!
Thank you - really clear and easy to follow. Have just done a pair of trousers. Took me ages and might have been quicker to do by hand but I’ve learnt a new skill and hopefully will be quicker next time!
What a great video this is! You made it very thorough and easy to follow. I have never sewed before in my life and I was able to do this after watching the video! Thank you!
I have been sewing for 30 years and NEVER knew how to blind hem, I was afraid to attempt it! Thank you for such an informative and easy to understand tutorial.
Thank you Dominica! Your video is very detailed (that's what all beginners appreciate). I like your handy list of all the steps involved, including links to these parts. What I love best are your many lose up view to really see what is going on while folding, pinning. and sowing. And thank you for going through the trouble to sow one half of one pant leg in a different color. It really helps to understand the stitch. I want to try to shorten a pair of corduroy pants and am pretty sure my needle will break :-) The triple fold part right now seems to be 1/2 inch thick! I would not have even attempted to try without your nice video. Many, many thanks!
Thank you so much for this video! It helps so much to see the entire process done start to finish on a pair of actual pants. You have a new Subscriber!
Thank you so much, this tutorial save a lot of scratching my head about attaching the hemming foot, the G one on my new Janome. My trousers with invisible hem are ready for wearing.
100 thank yous! You are the absolutely best sewing teacher I have ever had the pleasure of learning from. How long have I tried to get this blind hem stitch fold? Thank you for helping me to get it. I got it yall! I am going to tell everyone!
