Former Vis user: LOVED THE RESULTS!!!! Some tips: Definitely comply with amount of time you wear the aligners and USE YOUR CHEWIES!!! To keep clean: Hydrogen peroxide: I would soak them (small plastic "Tupperware" type container) in straight H2O2 when I removed them in the morning to eat or have coffee. Then brush them before I put them back in. Also, I still do this with my retainers in the morning. I found those tablets were a waste of money and didn't clean as well as the hydrogen peroxide. I was in my 60's when I started the treatment. One of the best decisions I ever made. My trays were changed weekly and I had discomfort with only the 2nd tray. My treatment plan was supposed to be 32 weeks but then the world went nuts with the 19 and it was extended another 6 mths. Had IPR on one tooth and it was nothing, seriously. I was nervous but felt nothing. I wear my retainers every night- I worked too hard to get these straight, I'm not going to ruin it now. I think in 2 years I forgot maybe 4 times.

Tip; you can also get fixed retainers after the treatment (if it involved mainly your front teeth). It's just a thin wire attached to the back of your front teeth. Dentist does it once. It's much easier and less work, doesn't feel like a life-long commitment. I think Invisalign doesn't push this option, because they prefer to sell you aligners for the rest of your life ;)
This sadly isn't an option for anyone. I have only been able to get the fixed retainer on my lower teeth, on my upper teeth there is not enough space. So wearing braces for life it is.
Personally, I would never want fixed retainers. It's a pain to floss and you can see them. My friend has a retainer behind her bottom front teeth and I can clearly see it when she laughs. She says she often doesn't floss properly because she doesn't always have the threader around and that even when she does, she tends to get plaque build up regardless.
@@lauradahlus I paid 1700 out of pocket after insurance. Some places it would have been 2200 after insurance. I went through 3 different offices. I went with invisalign. My friend did smiledirect. His back teeth are misaligned now according ot his dentist. Mine is perfect. My treatment was less painful than I expected. The first 3 days were tough because it was hard to talk and I had yo brush after every meal and floss.

Please go to an Orthodontist (specialist) and not a general dentist for Orthodontic treatment. I wish i knew the difference between the two. I had so many problems when i had invisalign with a general dentist. Ended up going to an Orthodontist in the end to sort it all out and the difference between the two were leagues apart.

@@michellesutherland9078 Yes, invisalign produces the plan, the difference between a General Dentist and an Orthodontist in this matter- the Ortho knows how to change the plan if it is not correct for the patient, especially if they identify a problem. General dentists have little knowledge of Ortho in its entirety. I had gaps, food packing, bad contouring. The Ortho i found sorted all these issues out. The level of knowledge he had, compared to the Dentist was just on another level. I couldn't believe it, which i why i feel people need to know the difference. Any General Dentist who says otherwise is just profiting, which is fine, that is the culture we live in. What i find amusing is, there seems to be some Dentists who are defensive on this subject matter, if you're insecure, go and study extra years so that it benefits the patient.

Wear retainers once a week? You’re too nice. My ortho told me to wear them every night. 13 years later, I can count the nights I’ve not had them in on one hand.
It’s best to keep it to at the very least, every other night. Otherwise you will definitely get movement. This is why some people who had braces go on to have Invisalign in the future

I'm the guy who's gonna tell you the truth, Invisalign sucks you can't eat whenever you want, it taste like shit when you take them off in the morning even if you brushed your teeth and flossed after your last meal, it's annoying you can't feel your teeth, and people will always offer you stuff and you got to reject it because then you will have to take them off to eat then brush your teeth and floss, your jaw hurts because you can't fully close your mouth and Invisalign is supposed to be invisible but everyone will know you have them trust me lol i think i should of went with braces because i don't have to worry about taking them off, plus it takes the same time to floss your teeth with braces because you still got to brush floss and then still clean your aligners, so if anyone thinks on getting aligners take that into consideration. if you think that won't bother you go for it. I still think I should of went with braces that way I eat whenever I want or drink whatever I want, also with aligners your supposed to drink only water because one you can stain them and second you have a higher chance of getting cavities cuz the sugar stays trapped in there with your teeth... I've been watching a tots of videos and others say that with braces u get better and quickly results,but they can stain your teeth.The orthodontist I ve been told me the time is the same either w invisiline or braces....idk what to choose..
I think the same, I had braces and I’d definitely go for braces again. Uncomfortable at first but then you get used and you can enjoy a coffee a snack with no worries. They don’t limit you that much.
My appointments with my Ortho are between 4 - 6 weeks. It's needed to track progress and to receive additional trays. My Ortho generally gives me 4 trays at a time. One tray is to be worn for 10 days and then I change to the next set.
@beverlybarrera8921 I'm actually on vacation next week headed to Miami and I will have a new set of trays packed because it will be time to change. Based on how happy I've been with my results, I don't mind it one bit.

I’ve heard permanent retainers can be bad for your oral health as you can’t floss properly and food gets stuck in the wiring causes more cavities
That wire will be hard to clean and will accumulate gunk ending up in bad caries, wearing retainer every night is not that bad

Do not soak in warm water water can only be applied if room temperature to make sure that the aligners don’t shift by heat

No only with water can you leave them in
No only with cool water, vodka or soda might cause them to become more visible and maybe even discoloration or deform then even.

What about tmj? Does things cause tmd?
