The Selati male lion coalition with a buffalo bull. We were sitting with a leopard stalking warthog when we heard the sounds of the lion vs buffalo action close by. When we got there the three male lions were still busy trying to subdue the huge buffalo bull in a rather intense safari scene. The Selati male lion coalition were known for specializing in buffalo. In part two of the video you can see lions consuming their buffalo meal.

Nah it can take 15+ minutes to completely suffocate a full grown bull buffalo. While extremely painful, it's honestly quicker to have it pass out from the shock & pain of being eaten alive. These lions are the Selati coalition & they were experts at buffalo hunting.

There is nothing entertaining about watching a video like this but one cannot help but admire the sheer dedication and patience of the lion whose duty it is to suffocate and end the suffering of the animal. Life on the plains of Africa is a daily struggle to survive and these well filmed videos give a window to this action. Invariably after a few minutes, the animal goes into massive shock and struggles less and less.
