I picked this up from a van life or tiny house video, instead of using throw pillows, use a pillow cover and stuff it with extra blankets, out of season coats, towels etc. I plan to try this in my house as soon as I find covers I like. We have an excessive amount of couch blankets.
I know this video is about 2 years old, but I'm so impressed with how relevant it still is for new RV-ers like me. Thanks for the information. Love your videos!
I've been watching 932 different UA-cam videos just getting ideas for storage and organizing. I'm #ADHD so EVERYTHING in my life has to be organized or my anxiety will go nuts! Anyhoozie, as I have been cruising through UA-cam getting different ideas, I find myself TOTALLY ON ACCIDENT clicking on YOUR videos. The more I watch, the more I find myself looking for ideas from YOUR channel because you seem to show "budget friendly" tips as opposed to the people who obviously must have bottomless bank accounts. We aren't full time or really even "part time".... We are more like "whenever we wanna get away for a few days" people. But either way, ya wanna be comfortable and organized! OK I'll shuddup now but I just wanted to let you know that you are doing a great job by sounding like "real life" as opposed to infomercials for companies that just want people to advertise for them. Hope you have a super sparkly day sweetie! XO from TEXAS! 🤠 👑
Not an RVer, but I do Solo tent camp out of my Kia SOUL (space definitely at a premium). I recently purchased one of those 3 drawer dressers by Rubbermaid for my dishes, cookware, coffee pot & mugs. I use the bottom drawer for some miscellaneous items like my cutting board, collapsible sink, matches, table cloth w/anchors,pot holder, dish towel, dish soap and a child's fishing box for eating utensils,cutlery,s/p and a few frequently used seasoning packets (sold individually in ziploc packets). I also have the smaller vertical Tupperware storage unit w/3drawers for my lights, lantern, charging cords, first aid & fishing supplies, green propane cylinder(s),tarps, rope, extra pegs, hand vacuum, mallet, air pump, etc. I use the back floor space for my tent, screen room, chairs, sleeping bag, airmattress, pillow, camp shovel. Into my backpack, I roll and pack my clothes,towel/Washcloth as sets,my Kindle, and a pencil pouch for toiletries,i also tuck in a small wallet with my ID,Fishing License, Hank's Certificate of Health w/Proof of RabiesVax,and some cash for incidentals. I have my FULLY charged Yetti Battery Pack and stocked Cooler in the front passenger seat/floor. And Hank's bed in the backseat ready to roll.
We have a cloth shoe pockets storage hanging on outside of shower door and gives us so much storage for all kinds of things. We leave it up all of the time.
I agree that going vertical is necessary in tiny living. Command hooks are definitely your friend when you have things that can hang like Jammie’s, hats, pants that you might wear another day, drying bath towels, etc. I keep a huge supply of various types and sizes of command hocks. You can never y have too many. It even makes it easy to hang Christmas lights up in your rig.
This is a great video. Those tension rods have saved my bacon more times than I can count. I live in northern Alberta and our roads are less than fantastic so stuff moves around, A LOT.
My wife n i came across your channel and we purchased a 28ft travel trailer this past January (21) and we do alont of camping and storage is a big issue with dishes and other thing and the things you do make so much sense you are awsome watching this video made me find storage space in our trailer thank you 👍
I use an under shelf basket to put our paper plates in. It's great for easy access, keeps them off the counter and out of the cupboard. Those can also be used for your tin foil, plastic wrap, etc. I have also used magazine holder horizontally up under the cupboard for the same thing. The under shelf basket does, however, have a plastic coating that decreases risk of sliding during travel. I took the cabinet slide part off and attached them with either screws or electrical u-clamps (there's a technical name for them that I can't think of lol) up under the cupboard.
I think I'll get some tension rods. Especially need something to keep stuff from sliding around in the fridge! We just got our RV in December and have been out on a few trips. I really appreciate all your handy tips!
Thank you! A friend sent me this because my husband and I are about tho hit the road in our first RV. We are selling our home in Austin, TX and traveling for a living.
I love your videos, i use the “hang over the door” shoe holders. I have 2 on the bathroom door, one for toiletries and the one on the outside holds kitchen items, like spices, utensils etc. I live alone in my travel trailer so i did not need the full booth in the kitchen area. That being said, i removed the booth closest to the door as well as the table top that comes in the RVs.. Added a 24” round table and a couple book cases and tripled my storage. I have not included pictures because i am not sure if thats allowed.
Tip which works for us...we use thin felt hangers and soda can tab to hang to items together. We tried purchasing a product to hang 5-6 pieces of clothing from one hanger unit, but they were made of plastic and always broke.
Got the towels off one of your last recommended videos I saw. Omgoodness it was a wonderful share! The feel takes a couple times to get used to, but after that it is all about the benefits. Thank you
I had to laugh at your cat lying on your table! 😂 We just bought a camper that we will travel with, so my storage solutions are very different now compared to our last, stationary camper, with a lot more storage! Great tips! ❤
I have worked on lots of storage mods as of late. I took a previously unused space and made a door out of the original front. We also had a bunk bed ladder that we never used in 6 years. My youngest son took the ladder assembly out and I put shelves in and put a door on the front to help keep things secure during travel. Thank you for all the tips! I liked the idea on the bins!
My kitchen drawers are short also. I have my silverware in a basket on the table. My knives are in a basket in the upper cabinet. I have my towels and rags rolled up and in a shoe hanger in a closet. Hubby and I don't need to hang any clothes , so I have the hanging shelves in all the closets.
I've done this for years with my sweat pants, capri pants, etc too. Anything large that doesn't need to be wrinkle free works great rolled. When I travel with a suitcase, no RV, I roll each set of clothes together and band it. So, Capri pant, tank, shirt, bra, panties all rolled and rubber band around it so that I just grab a roll per day, works wonderful for a week at Bible camp!
Hello, I enjoy watching your videos. The one concern I have and interested in is if you have ever weighed your rig when it is full, including everyone that would be in it during travel. I weighed mine and found I was over the weight limit for my rig and the tires.
Yes, we have weighed it on a cat scale a couple of times. We’ve usually had 500 lbs or so that we are under the weight limit. Our rig being an older diesel pusher can carry quite a bit and we’ve been pleasantly surprised that we’ve not hit the weight limit - even when everything we own is in the RV.
I loved your videos....so much information! We are about to purchase a 26" RV, so I'm watching a lot of videos on how to do everything! Your videos have been so helpful!!! One thing...where did you get your beautiful bedspread?!!

I have used tension rods for everything to towel racks to paper towel holder to better bathroom shower Curtain. Thanks again for sharing your ideas. Happy Camping. Shari
I have been opening up areas under benches and couch to start building storage areas. So much lost space in our camper. Love your ideas. I need to figure out our pantry, it is narrow and deep, so hard to reach back and of course the door swings odd to put slides in. I will figure it out. Thank you
Maybe use a tray for what's in the front half so you can easily pull it out to access the back, and wire shelves with drawer liner and lazy Susans in the back. Just a few ideas 😎 You can also consider installing pull-out shelves/drawers
Hopefully you are keeping weight limits in mind. I know a case where a class A was in a pretty bad accident and insurance company a did not pay as the coach was deemed so over weight in the cargo etc.

@20:46--Usually, "fire-proof" means it will keep the internal temperature below 400° F for a finite amount of time so that protected PAPER will not burn. Most hard drives can OPERATE only up to 120°-140° F (50°-60° C). They can EXIST without running at slightly higher temperatures. But the bad news is 400° F (204°) is too high for hard drives unless you are worried about the metal of your hard drives melting. The DATA on your hard drives will be unretrievable...GONE...well below the 400° maximum provided by your fire-proof bag. I'm sure you probably have backup to the cloud set up.
Yes. We do back up to the cloud. But we have seen cases where SD cards did survive best, etc. we’ve not had to prove that out for ourselves tho (Thank God). Thanks for the comment and for watching
Yikes! I’ve not had the nano tape do that on our walls (I usually apply a little heat to remove). I’ve never had to replace command strips except when wanting to pull down the command hook and reinstall elsewhere
I tried to use command on the walls of our, Jayco fifth wheel, can't get them to stick, I wipe the wall down where I want to hang them with alcohol, didn't work, any idea's

@@GratefulGlamper Suggestions for extending your in camp days as opposed to travel days, I know there’s things that I can do like hiking, but just wondering if you had any ideas of hobbies or crafts to do without having huge collections, and this would keep me from moving on every day to possibly cutting it down to one or two days a week thus burning less fuel. Thank you for your reply.
We use magnet hooks to hang up our dish-drying towels. You haven't addressed using the front of your fridge for any type of storage.... isn't that a missed opportunity?
I always make sure to prep the area with an alcohol wipe and press hard when applying. And then let cure for 5-10 mins before hanging anything. Nano tape works great too!
Another winning video. We’ve always had booth dinettes for the extra storage space. No chairs to strap down or extra chairs to store under bed. Space is far too valuable in RV’s.
It should be mentioned that every RV has weight restrictions for safety reasons. Empty space means more stuff & more weight. Have you had your RV weighed ?? Most people don't & are surprised how overweight they are !!
Very true. We’ve weighed ours at the cat scale many times and we’re always under. Ours is a 2004 tho and built to carry several tons. Not all TT or 5er’s are tho.
The look on your face when talking about above toilet storage! I hate that! People are always putting towels or wicker storage boxes there, and I'm like, have you ever met boys? Yeesh!
you're fireproof bags aren't actually fireproof. they are heat proof and meant to be used inside of a fire proof safe. just wanted to let you know bcz stuff happens. stay safe ❤
Your using every space... but have you weighed your rv ??? That is important because that is engine pulling it....and now expensive gas . I would weigh ur rv. Also use large zip locks for board games ...lighter. keep rules and cut out name of game . you can have more board games.
We’ve done this very thing with the board games using zipper bags from Amazon. We also weigh our RV from time to time on the cat scales. With an older diesel pusher like we have we have a ton of weight capacity and the closest we’ve come was being 500 lbs under (meaning we could have still added another 500 pounds). Thanks for watching
Those of us that are veterans know how to fit our lives in a footlocker - basically you have to identify "needs" & "wants" to determine what you carry in the RV. When we see something we like we ask which it is, & how would we benefit to decide if we purchase. The other thing is to ELIMINATE duplications!
Agreed! Recently downsized from a small family trailer to be an even smaller couples trailer. Could be not BELIEVE how many each of serving spoons, egg turners, etc, that were in my old trailer. Gave it to my grown son and family fully equipped...LOL!

If you cut the plastic bins, could you use a heat gun to melt it together rather than duct tape?
Great tips! Curious what your weight limit is?
40k LBS
I tried to use command on the walls of our, Jayco fifth wheel, can't get them to stick, I wipe the wall down where I want to hang them with alcohol, didn't work, any idea's
Hang with nano tape instead!

Interesting, I find that I do need to make sure I’ve prepped the area well (cleaned the mounting surface, etc.)
Do you have any suggestions for travel days, which are now getting very expensive because of the rise in gas/fuel prices.
Suggestions for food on travel days? Or storage for travel days?
@@GratefulGlamper Suggestions for extending your in camp days as opposed to travel days, I know there’s things that I can do like hiking, but just wondering if you had any ideas of hobbies or crafts to do without having huge collections, and this would keep me from moving on every day to possibly cutting it down to one or two days a week thus burning less fuel. Thank you for your reply.
Do you have a link for your tops

We use magnet hooks to hang up our dish-drying towels. You haven't addressed using the front of your fridge for any type of storage.... isn't that a missed opportunity?
It could be? Our fridge front isn’t metal however it’s wood.
Can you send me the link for the fireproof bag please?
Here you are: www.amazon.com/dp/B07GL3479V/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_api_glt_fabc_2JMC5NCZDKPMPQGK4P7M?linkCode=ml2&tag=gratefulglamper-20
@@GratefulGlamper thank you. do you have a code for this?
In your freezer you can keep ice cream hard, putting your ice cream at the corner in the back of freezer ,it sure helps us
We will try that!
Do you have tips for cat box, travel with cat.
I cannot get command tape to hold anything on walls they fall off guess try nano tape
I always make sure to prep the area with an alcohol wipe and press hard when applying. And then let cure for 5-10 mins before hanging anything. Nano tape works great too!
P.S. just finished a crispy grilled cheese sandwich made in the airfryer.
Nice!
Another winning video. We’ve always had booth dinettes for the extra storage space. No chairs to strap down or extra chairs to store under bed. Space is far too valuable in RV’s.
Space is at a premium that’s for sure!
How do you deal with cops tearing through all of it and ruining cabinets
Never had that problem
It should be mentioned that every RV has weight restrictions for safety reasons. Empty space means more stuff & more weight. Have you had your RV weighed ?? Most people don't & are surprised how overweight they are !!
Very true. We’ve weighed ours at the cat scale many times and we’re always under. Ours is a 2004 tho and built to carry several tons. Not all TT or 5er’s are tho.
On a different video an owner lengthened the drawers because there was wasted space behind them.
Great idea
The look on your face when talking about above toilet storage! I hate that! People are always putting towels or wicker storage boxes there, and I'm like, have you ever met boys? Yeesh!
👏🏻
you're fireproof bags aren't actually fireproof. they are heat proof and meant to be used inside of a fire proof safe. just wanted to let you know bcz stuff happens. stay safe ❤
👍🏻
😅 more like thought inside the couch
Your using every space... but have you weighed your rv ??? That is important because that is engine pulling it....and now expensive gas .
I would weigh ur rv.
Also use large zip locks for board games ...lighter. keep rules and cut out name of game . you can have more board games.
We’ve done this very thing with the board games using zipper bags from Amazon. We
also weigh our RV from time to time on the cat scales.
For sure! Thanks for the comment and for watching.
It’s kind of funny after 23 years in the military to see folks with so much stuff in their RVs. We’ve probably used less than half of our cabinets.
Agreed! Recently downsized from a small family trailer to be an even smaller couples trailer. Could be not BELIEVE how many each of serving spoons, egg turners, etc, that were in my old trailer. Gave it to my grown son and family fully equipped...LOL!
What is deal with everyone using paper. Bad for environment
Why do u have those goofy pictures of yourself before your video starts?
So I'm single and have no clutter. What I'm seeing here is if I get a girl it will be a hoarder situation.
80 percent of our stuff belongs to my husband - hoarding and clutter isn’t a gender specific thing
@@GratefulGlamper it was more of a joke 🤣 keep forgetting people don't have a sense of humor anymore
