Why didn't you extend the diagonal braces right to the 2 by 4 edges?

Hi Peter,
I never go over 45 degrees on braces as then you lose the strength and gate will sag.
Thats why you don’t see any angle bracing on bridges over 45 degrees. Hope this helps and thanks for the feedback.

Hi from down under. I'm a 73 year old lady on the tail end of my small gate. Just need to brace it which I hope to finish today. I really like the lock and has given me an idea with mine.
