    I like this gate very much! Not everything needs to be difficult, this is my kind of diy project. I did notice, you can leave through this gate, but you can't get in!

      Hi Juliet🖐It's a nice simply built gate, that's for sure👍The gate latch was supplied by the customer, so I'm presuming that's what they wanted🤔As you mention though, I think it would become irritating very quickly, not being able to open it from the front😶Thanks for watching and your comment 😎 Cheers Del

    Another great vid Del. My Dad has always had a side door to his house but it is a unique size. Built him one a few years ago. The local busy body neighbour came to find out what i was doing. She then proceeded to tell me that my sister was the favourite child, couldnt make it up.

    Hi, Did you only screw through braces from the back? Or was it off camera, you may of screwed through from front of gate into braces also? Great job btw👍

      Hi Martin🖐Those straps were super cheap RAC ones, (hence the orange colour) from B&M👍I wouldn't strap something to my roof rack with them and drive over 100mph with them😵but for little clamping/strapping jobs, they are perfect👊Thanks for your comment 😎 Cheers Del

    Great video. I am just about to make a panel to fit inside a metal gate frame and was wondering about wood expansion. Would it be best to but the boards together and leave a slight gap around the edges? Do you glue the boards together at all?

      Hi there🖐My experience of this is that, if the wood has come straight from the timber yard, then it will DEFINITELY shrink and leave about a 5/6mm gap👍I don't use any glue on these gates, because as stated above, the wood moves too much for it to be effective👍Hope this helps🤞Cheers Del

    Great video del .does it matter which way the diagonal panels go for example left to right /right to left 👍

      The diagonal braces must always go at an upward angle from the edge, the hinges are fitted. The idea of this is to help prevent the gate from sagging on the latch side. I sure Del will answer you soon confirming this.

    Just curiously are you not worried about expansion and construction on the verticals pulling the gate apart over time?
    I found the hinges from Toolstation were more heavy duty than Screwfix 👍🏻

      @@thetallcarpenter haha, I once had a couple supply me with a lock for the outside door, they forgot to mention that it was a bathroom lock... (they thought the other locks were overpriced). Here all well, busy finishing the last shed for the year since the rain season is coming, been a bit behind on your channel but saw a nice stair video which is an upcoming project for me as well.       I use them for loads of clamping duties JRS💪 (plus they are pretty good for lashing stuff on the roof rack😉)

      Youll never believe me B Dizzle, but those were the lengths the guys at my, excellent, local timber merchant brought out for me to load onto the van🤯I'm really lucky to have such a great timber supplier right on my door step that only stocks quality material👊Great comment and thanks for watching🤩Cheers Del

      Hi FD🖐They are called Express Nails and you just drill an 8mm hole and hammer them in💪They give a great hold in solid masonry, but you'd never undo them🤔Cheers Del

      Hi there🖐 One post was already concreted into the ground, and I just used a straight edge along the side of the brickwork to see how far back it is, and then fix the wall post accordingly👊Cheers Del

    Have to admit worked with alot of joiners in my time, quick ones slower ones rough as f**k ones ones that are too anal about stuff for no reason. Your the perfact balance not slow just gets on with it but does a cracking job

    Can even tell from the colour of the box that you used stainless screws. My builder is the kind of guy who says 'don't need to use those, I've done this for years and had no problems' yeh maybe because no one wanted to call the same guy back who cocked it up in the first place.
