i graduated in 1986 in new jersey ,triumph is a great band, those were the days.ive been listening to them since 83,84. great players great songs . i love the tone of the lead in this song, it makes me feel good, the way ric emmett bands up to the note you can just feel it ...awsome post
I feel obliged to point out that, despite what the Wikipedia article on this album says, this song was NOT cowritten by THAT Glenn Miller (of 40s big band fame). Although the article links to that Glenn Miller, this song is actually cowritten by some other guy that happens to share the same name of the more famous guy.
Many bands ended up in Commercial Street after living a while in Rough Edge Woods. That is true for Europe (Seven doors hotel-period), for Van Halen, and of course for Triumph too. I didn"t mind too much the lesser power and a stronger accent on melody, but then again, I guess I am a romantic softy :0)
You can talk or I can beat my head against the wall 'Cause that'd be just as easy And I, I can't keep giving you it all Not if you're just gonna tease me Now I don't know How it's supposed to be But as long as you say That you're in love with me, darlin' You don't love anybody else but me Don't be waiting for some fantasy Don't love anybody else but me I could ask what it is that's burning you inside But then what would protect me? In the past I never had this much riding on the line No, I can't let you reject me 'Cause no one else Kept you this satisfied And I'm not gonna wait For you to read my mind, so darlin' You don't love anybody else but me Don't be waiting for some fantasy Don't love anybody else but me Why can't I be your reality? Don't love anybody else but me How could you do this to us? Am I askin' too much? Don't look at me like there is nothing you can say Don't take our love and throw it all away And you can talk and the I can hold you in my arms At least that's what I'm hoping but you Don't know if we can undo the harm You say there's no way of knowing But if you're not asking me To set you free And as long as you claim To be in love with me, darlin' Please don't love anybody else but me Don't be waiting for some fantasy Don't love anybody else but me Why can't I be your reality? Don't love anybody else but me
I dunno, I think this song should be called "I Swear It's Not Peace Of Mind By Boston". Not that there's anything wrong with that, they're both golden.
Love this song! I was looking at the Wikipedia page for this album and happened to notice that one of the co-writers of this song was - of all people - Glenn Miller!! Yeah, THAT Glenn Miller (the 40s swing band guy - In the Mood, Chattanooga Choo Choo, etc.). But I can't for the life of me find out any more info about this. I'm totally intrigued, but there doesn't seem to be an old Glenn Miller version of this song or anything. Anybody out there know anything about this?
I just recently discovered the same thing...I would love to hear another version of this song, bc obviously Glenn Miller wrote the song, lyrics and melody, but I highly doubt he saw it turning out like this (and make no mistake this is a GREAT song.) But it almost seems like Glenn Miller (and Ed Roysendel) co-wrote this in the early 40s, no one EVER recorded it, then Triumph finds it in the 1980s (40+ year later) and records it for The Sport of Kings...seems impossible, no?? There has to be more to the story!!
@@smitchix1 well, like you said, it's impossible that this song was wrote by the duo Glenn Miller/Ed Roynesdal. The "real" Glenn Miller died in 1944, and Ed Roynesdal was active during the '80s, working with people like Joe Jackson and Michaal Monroe etc. So my guess would be that Ed Roynesdal wrote this song alone but used or was inspired by a melody created by Glenn Miller many years before. So he credited Miller as a songwriter by default, just like the Stones credited KD Lang on "Anybody seen my baby?" while she never took part of the process of writing this song. Also, maybe Roynesdal has a friend named Glenn Miller, who happen to have a famous name (I know a guy named James Brown, I jammed with him ! but he's white haha) well... that"s my possibilities I can see... btw, what an superb song on an album that's superb too. I like it from top to bottom but that's my favorite one, I own it in vinyl!
@@pjfontana Makes as much sense as anything Pierre. I would love to hear Rik Emmit talk about this, how a "Miller/Roysendal" song wound up on Sport of Kings, and what the real story is behind it. Would be fascinating.
High school hurt! It’s resonating in my life now! Ugh!
Sport of Kings!!! So many memories!!!

0 people don't love anybody else but me

Am I askin' too much?
Don't look at me like there is nothing you can say
Don't take our love and throw it all away
And you can talk and the I can hold you in my arms
At least that's what I'm hoping but you
Don't know if we can undo the harm
You say there's no way of knowing
But if you're not asking me
To set you free
And as long as you claim
To be in love with me, darlin'
Please don't love anybody else but me
Don't be waiting for some fantasy
Don't love anybody else but me
