Meshuggah's "Bleed" Guitar Solo on Trumpet

- 12 years ago, Meshuggah entered my life when I heard “Bleed” for the first time. The ethereal interlude struck the deepest musical nerve in my body, leaving me in an engrossed trance. Fredrik Thordendal then shattered through unexpectedly with unconfined soloing.
This was the moment...
A moment that changed my relationship with music in ways I couldn’t fully comprehend then. My 16 year old self had never heard a guitar solo of this nature before. This song and solo have profound meaning to me as it introduced me to the heaviest metal ever written 🤘🏿
Thank you, Meshuggah and Fredrik!
Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️
I LOVE the brass players covering meshuggah, it works really well with meditative aspect of their music
It’s the second golden age of the trumpet! Gotta include some METAL in there 🤘🏿🎺
I suppose it makes sense given how much the solos are Holdsworth inspired - not that Holdsworth played his guitar like a brass instrument, more like a sax but still fairly close
Fredericks solos translates to jazz so perfectly
He extracts the best out of Holdsworth in his style❤️
I wish more people knew of the genius that is Allan Holdsworth@@Mileshuggah
1:11 that highest note sounded exactly like the guitar
Bleed guitar solo is a masterpiece inside a masterpiece
For real! Every element of this track boggles my mind. The drum work is a technical feat of mastery and finesse, the development of the guitar riffs is brilliant, the lyrics are soul crushing, and then this god given solo.... The whole thing together transcends reality and should be remembered as one of humanity’s greatest achievements 🤘🏿❤️.
🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
Fredriks' melodies can bring you so close to the edges of reality and sometimes even offer glimpses across!
Absolutely! Well said!
I think theyre aliens and we should just count ourselves lucky theyre who they are
Close to the Edge? Is that a Yes Reference?
@@gaborkrausz5402Yes ;) (god tier album/song btw)
What a performance....😂😂Nailed it! Even did the Jens perfectly.
I practice my Meshuggah face more than the trumpet at this point 🤣🤘🏿
Jen's face when he opens fridge and doesn't have enough soy milk for his latte.
Beautiful tone, nailed every note... and the Jens face at the end. Perfection.
lol no he didn’t. Sure, it was good, but it was not “nailing every note.”
Like your end credits say, life isn’t the same until you’ve heard meshuggah. After seeing them live this year I’m honestly convinced they’re some sort of demi gods.
For real, they transcended and tapped into a different realm that I continue to to explore, unfold, and try to inhabit 🤘🏿❤️
That's because they are being influenced by demons my Buddy
I had a similar experience with them just this week
The Jens outro took this from an excellent cover to epic video
The video wouldn't have been complete without it 🥲🤘🏿. Thank you!
Meshuggah is still the best Jazz Band on the planet.. as you prof!
*Djazz 🤣🤘🏿
was confused why Wikipedia says they do Jazz Fusion, I get it now
I'm not a musician but this was amazing to me
Happy you’re still here! Thanks for watching 🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿
This is my favourite Bill Evans song ever
I see what you did there, oh man of culture.
His face at the end says everything
Wow! Always found that solo amazing but it wasn't until hearing it played on a trumpet I realized it genius.
Thank you!!! Thrilled I could deepen the Thordendal love 🤘🏿
The face is gold
The only appropriate meshuggah face🤣🤘🏿
This is wctually hauntingly beautiful
Casually getting possessed by a deamon at the end
The possession occurred looooong before the camera started rolling 😂🤘🏿
Holy mole, dude!!! You just captured Fredrik's solo and fused Freddie Hubbard with Allan Holdsworth and called it your own. Bravo!!
really love all your meshuggah trumpet solos, adds so much more sinister feelings when i hear it.
Keep it up, would love to know if you make music with a band?
Not yet! Would love to play with a band soon!
@@Mileshuggah hope to see some obzen trumpet!
This is exactly jazz
Pov: antediluvian project
This is haunting. I mean that as a compliment
I love it! Thank you so much 🤘🏿
У Тебя реально круто получилось! Уже 10 раз переслушал!
my favorite version of this solo is the one in the ophidian trek, first heard it in the wincent drum cam video and it sent me straight into the stratosphere
metal asf
i have watched this video 500 times and i will watch it 500 more
There's a chilean band called octopus that has a song with a trumpet solo called "ethereal mind"
Oh hell yeah! Octopus slays! Thank you for reminding about them!🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿
@@Mileshuggah Holy crap, you know them? That's awesome
I can't believe you hit that high F
Neither can I 😂. I failed attempts before this💪🏿
I usually hate Meshuggah guitar solos, but this rocks
Blasphemy! Hahaha thank you though 🤘🏿💙
Even covered the meshiggah face at the end, good shit 😂
Has serious Nils Petter Molvær vibes 😎👍
Whoa! Had to look him up! Love the vibe!
@@Mileshuggah hehe yeah I had the feeling you might dig it 😎👍
Dude! That's hitting the NAIL ON THE HEAD! Never thought of that before :D!
100 percent 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿. Reminds me of Arve Henriksen as well!
Siiiick
Oh boooy. This one takes the cake. I thought "Bouncing in a Bottomless Pit" was teh shizzle, but "Bleed" tops it. I really enjoy listening to your interpretations and I agree with @Gurren: You add some evil/sinister touch to it, even though I thought it wasn't possible. Thank you.
That was FUCKing dope
Jerome is the hero we needed but not the one we deserved.
THIS and Closed eye visuals are two sides of one coin
Really addictive and simply beautiful
This feels like you’ve reached some profound truth, but lost everything that matters to get to it. So you just kneel down before it’s profundity in your broiling anguish and surrender.
More of these please !
Will do! Any specific songs you wanna hear?
Young brother. You need to form a death metal-jazz band and be the next Miles a la Bitches Brew and Tutu.
Badass!
You fucking rock, dude
01:25 oh, that ending:)
Holy shit.
first time heard "nothing". This lp shocked me with low tuning massive boom. but then i met DEI. Oh boy... this masterpiece filled non-linearity of the compositions. Multilevel speeds and heaviness associated with such psychedelic moments. But solo of Frederick... Oh god there is raw universe
That growl at the end was a very nice touch. Obviously the run to that high note... Damn. Well done!
Any time I hear meshuggah covered on a different instrument it just confirms for me how amazing their songs are as pure compositions. Props man, you killed it!
Thank you thank you! Happy to hear this video served Meshuggah justice and shed light on the subtler genius of their writing 🥹🫂
man proving that meshuggah is just jazz with distortion and 8 string guitars
That meshuggah face at the end
awesome dude. fucking awesome
Nice bro ❤sassy
Now it's Terry Michael Brunk theme
Someone said, they're very jazzy. I can't get it out my head now, lol
Wow really really nice!! Thanks
Nice!
I always thought when i heard this that it sounded like horns at times.
He fell into the clarity of undoing
That's what happens when scornful gods haggle for your soul...
Next time I go to cigar smoke filled hotel lobby bar, I'll ask the jazz duo in the corner the play this
I dream of a world where Meshuggah's entire discography are standards 🤘🏿❤️
Hella good
Beautiful! This really builds on the source material and unlocks something new :). It's not as aggressive but more contemplative and interestingly enough I think it highlights those beautiful harmonies in a more straight-forward way. Or maybe it's because the riff is lower in volume and the trumpet is emphasized. Awesome either way :).
Awwww thank you so much! Even Fred’s playing conveys a sense of contemplation to me. He learned a TON from Holdsworth.
Dark jazz )
🔥🤟🗽
This is amazing
Well done!!!!!
Awesome🔥
Amaz!
smooooothy jazzzzzzy ...mmhmm YES SIR !
This is the trumpet solo i didnt knew i needed in my life lol. Fucking great, Jerome!
That was awesome!
HOW do these solos match a trumpet's articulation so well??!! The subtle little pitch bends and swells are gorgeous
Because it's music?
@@Yourmothersmuff uh
The best Meshuggah guitar solo, probably the best guitar solo ever. Profound stuff
I just got done watching the marrow one. It was so jazzy and this one reminds me a lot of Drum Corps
This kicks ass! Something completely unexpectedly took me by surprise. Its amazing you translated that.
With this guy,Meshuggah is Jazz
There was a controversy back in the day on Metal Archives whether Catch 33 should be included on the website, because it's post/avantgarde or some other subgenre of jazz and not metal...
I love the slight reverb on the trumpet, it gives the whole thing a very sinister and mysterious feel. Also kinda reminds me of Colin Stetson's work
I ADORE Colin Stetson! This is high praise. Thank you so much 🫂❤️
The slow head bang at the end at me rolling man
The Jens face is requisite for every Meshuggah cover 🤘🏿😂
OF FUCKING COURSE MAN
After watching this I somehow have even less understanding on how a trumpet works.
Welcome to my world 🤣. I barely understand the damn thing myself
That power pose at the end💪💪💪💪
❤️💪🏿
👍🏻🙏
So glad I found this. Amazing💚
amazing!
Incredible work!
Incredible!!
fucking well done!
Awesome!
wow this sounds good bro I love to listen to it
Astonishing!
Absolutely superb
excellent
so good, dude! great work!! 🤘🤘🤘
Best ending meshuggah cover ever😂
Man thank you for share this amezing interpretation of meshuggah, big hug from the side of the world.
Thank you
Pero que hermoso esto oiga!!!!!
yeah dude. Awesome stuff
New sub! You deserve it
Lovely phrasing
Good cover, Jerome. I wish your channel a million subscribers!
Wow, thank you Sasha! Maybe one day 😍
For those interested, Thordendahl's compositions aren't devoid of brass. Zeta Reticuli II on Sol Niger Within has a sax solo ripping solos the whole way (can't remember his name)
Jonas Knutsson!!! Dude is a genius 🤘🏿🥹
