I just ordered an Ice Blue Metallic one and can't wait to get my hands on it and I got a buddy that's an amazing guitar player/Luthier and he's going to set it all up for me and put a brass or maybe even a titanium block on it and do some other lets say under the hood changes to it. Hells Yeah finally got me the kind of EVH guitar I've always wanted!🎸P.S. I'm Left Hand so That's part of the reason why it's been 2 +years in the making to find the right axe upgrade at the right price point for me from my cheap but good 1995 Fender Squire workhorse to this BEAST of a GUITAR EVH 5150 Standard!
I got mine in June. Love it. I added some red titanium and Naval Brass bits from F U Tone. It is just like a hot rodded 1985 Kramer Pacer. It pairs extremely well with my EVH 5150 III 50w EL34 head and matching 2x12 cab. My Standard Stealth guitar was on pre-order for about 4 months. I absolutely love it.
Awesome demo! This guitar is really cool, it’s a nod to EVH and his influence without being a direct copy to one of his actual guitars 🎸 Rock on 🤘 Jimmy
Great looking and sounding guitar (the player helped). Would live to try this model out. Now ice down those fingers! Damn, just smoking that fretboard!!
Good video and well done. Just a bit of a suggestion tho, try some more rhythm stuff. Not everyone buys a shreddy guitar to shred. Some like the good ole chugs. Again, nice review. Very thorough
All I can say is WOW! I'm about to order this 5150. Need a little help on the fingerboard. I prefer maple fingerboard, they offer a EVH 5150 Standard Series Slime Green with MAPLE NECK. Do you find any difference in feel or tone between the ebony and/or maple fingerboard woods? Also, call me crazy, but if I get the 5150 Black Stealth, I'll also get some white electrical tape and turn it into a 5150 Franken w/white stripes.
@jimmyfranklin do you still like this guitar two years later? I've been thinking of pulling the trigger on the EVH 5150 Series Deluxe QM Quilt Top Guitar Ebony Neck Purple Daze and buying through AMSj. I watched and really listened to your whole video and tried to zero in on the characteristics of the guitar. It really sounds like this guitar is made for an agressive player, like you and I. The way it reacted to the way you played it was really nice. What comments can you make now 2 years later. Anyone else feel free to chime in. I'm looking to buy a guitar soon because I'm rejoining a band I played with 8 years ago. This will be my third stint with this band. I do need super expensive guitars. Just something that plays and feels good. I'm just not a guitar snob when it comes to expense and I have found that most guitars on the market that are the $1000-1500 price point are rather good. Thanks for any comments or insight.
I’ve had the Stealth 5150 guitar for 2 years now, No complaints. Sounds, plays, and handles the abuse no problem. I put a locking strap on it, that’s it. The stealth finish gets a little shine going when using it all the time, but it’s not bad. Still very dark. The Floyd olds up great w/D-tuna, just keep everything set up properly, and ur good man! 👍
THANK YOU FOR NOT JUST CHUGGA GHUGGA CHOO CHOOING like 95 percent of every demo these days!! I want to hear bending , shredding and dives!! 🤘🤘Well done, I have had my eye on this guitar for a while but can't seem to ever find one in stock anywhere to test drive. But I will probably buy anyway 🤘🤘
My apologies. I have done so many reviews that I say “jumbo stainless steel” that I must have accidentally said that without thinking. They are NOT stainless. I’ll try and fix that! Thank you!
@@jimmyfranklin no problem, man, love your videos! Was just wondering. I'd myself be quite happy to see these guitars get stainless. But I'm so used to them by now. Used to have many guitars; now it's a select few which have gotten stainless refrets, including a charvel so cal. Love how long good fret work can last on fine stainless frets.
Mine just got here today...too high at nut, high string up the fretboard and still buzzing..drop d pullout so close to body, its hard to pullout, and the body is thinner than a strat or charvel from japan. The neck wood is so fresh you can smell the green, and this guitar should be priced around 599. Canadian...i paid 1500. Canadian . ..very disappointed, i dont think eddie would be cool with it we either. Oh yeah, it took almost 4 months wait wuth a down payment ...guess i gotta go see a luthier and get the nut lowered (very high at low e string), and a fret dressing to get rid of the buzzing...
This guitar is a beast! Why would anyone blow $4,300 for the Wolfgang Signature when this is $1,000 and can do nearly the same thing? 🤷♂️ What is $3,300 better about the Wolfgang Signature besides SS frets and the pickups?
I'd really like to know the story about why they included that kill switch. To me it seems unnecessary and should be optional. Did Eddy even use a kill switch on any VH song?
There is that classic Eddie trick where he would use the pickup selector to create that killswitch effect and eventually he added these to his guitars. So answer: he didn’t back in the day but then added them later in life to make the effect easier to achieve
I got mine a few months back I wished I would have had mine plucked the edges were a little rough on it but it is an amazing guitar I would recommend having them plucked if you have the option mine looks just like the one he's playing.
@@jimmyfranklin i get the impression that the 5150 is nicer to play ... the Wolfgangs definitely looks better imo, but the clean look of the 5150 and wider neck really does it for me.... and the killswitch...😁
I have a Wolfgang standard that came ever so slightly floating which I corrected by screwing in the springs underneath. Maybe you can get a bit by reversing this???

False. Eddie started building guitars in the early 70's, by 1991 he started working with Ernie Ball Music Man for his first Wolfgang series WHICH WOULD BE THE WORST GUITAR HE EVER TOUCHED. By 1996 he moved to Peavey where the guitar AND the tone slightly improved and was used with his 5150 head etc. But after meeting a Master Builder from Fender, Eddie joined with Fender and made possibly one of the best name brand guitars ever built, the Fender co-owned EVH brand. John Suhr has even commented that a basswood body with a maple top is the "holy grail" of guitar tone. If you don't know who he is look him up. Eddie was chasing tone his whole life, and even though I agree it went down hill when he stopped playing one of his Frankenstein guitars through a Marshall, it only improved from there to the point he even took the Stradivarius violins, known for their million dollar tone, and applied all of that knowledge, trial and error, research etc to what we have today. A basswood body, maple top, maple neck, ebony fretboard, custom wound pickups made at the Fender factory, the drop D tuna which Eddie invented for the floyd rose, the high speed volume control for volume swells the natural aging process allowing the guitar to even get better with age, like the stradivarius.. The video here above is using a brown sound which is subjective. Check other reviews for clean sounds and different levels of overdrive and distortion.

So to clarify. It’s rubbed with a finish. It’s not just a completely unfinished neck. It’s just light!

The fact that it's not a floating tremolo is the only reason I haven't purchased it. The guitar and pick ups and looks are amazing though.
The only one thing what's missing for me: The flipped bridge pickup.
Hopefully these have a stronger humbucker than the evh striped series..... I was disappointed
is that a drop tuna on the low e?
Are you sure these have stainless steel frets? Can't find that info. If it's like the previous 5150s, should be nickel.
