When my Mum was with us she too loved places like this and was often to be found enjoying a hot mulled wine in the midst of the action. These German towns and cities really do the festive season so well.
Thanks so much! We have been visiting places like this for over 30 years. Now we are retired we can spend much longer wandering here. At the moment as I type this we are in Nuremberg, another wonderful place to explore.

Thank you very much! We love the atmosphere in the evening exploring these places. A few Gluwein (hot mulled wine) soon takes any chill off and the buzz of the markets with all the colourful lights, seasonal music and the smells of mouth watering seasonal foods all combine to make for very enjoyable evenings. Follow that with a chill German Beer and local foods and you have a great end to the day. We set off for another wander on Tuesday and will be making the most of things for 31 days! Ivor`s brother lives in NZ but we would really miss the dark chill nights full of colour and great atmosphere so have not yet tried a "summer" Christmas. We like Freiburg as it is a good place to explore and hike from in the higher parts of the Black Forest. It was our first visit at Christmas and we really enjoyed our time there.

Freiburg is a beautiful city on the edge of the Black Forest. It was our first Christmas visit here and it was just wonderful. we hardly ever see snow here in Nottingham although we did have some a few weeks ago. All gone though the next day. There are so many great places like this to enjoy at Christmas. We are currently in Vienna which is our favourite by far. Hope you are enjoying yourselves and will have a magical time this Christmas. This year has not been so kind to us but on Tuesday we head once more into Germany and Austria. We are hoping it will be the start of much better times. There are plenty of great German cities that are brought to life by their Christmas celebrations. At the moment we are in Frankfurt just having started our 2014 visit. Our route this year will take us to some new places but mainly old favourites. We will be away for 30 days. Tonight is night two! Hello once more Serge. Freiburg is a place we have stayed in summer and passed through many times, often on the way to or from Colmar. In summer there is some superb walking in the Black Forest (and plenty of home made gateau in local cafes). You are right in that it was not too cold around Titisee and there was even a little warm sun on that fresh snow. A warming drink of Gluwein (Vin Chaud) was our reward for our efforts rather than coffee. We tend to reward ourselves quite often on these trips. Best wishes, Robert & Ivor.

Es hat wirklich Spaß gemacht und der verschneite Spaziergang vom Titisee aus war ein toller Bonus. Ich hoffe, Sie haben ein tolles Wochenende. Wir fliegen am Dienstag nach Frankfurt und werden 31 Tage lang Süddeutschland und Österreich bereisen. Wir lieben einfach die Atmosphäre zu dieser Jahreszeit.
