Guns’n roses giving their speeches completely drunk is tv gold.
Lol most genuine, honest speech in front of a camera in the American Music awards i'v ever heard. 😂❤
bruh slash is either insanely drunk or trolling like hell
Most likely both
Definitely drunk, probably trolling 😄
Drunk and high AF !!!!
Absolutely on anything he could get his hands on
Drunk and British. Typically us to be fair.
Slash getting played off for accidentally swearing twice is hilarious
Even as a huge Pearl Jam fan I still think after all these years that The Mighty Alice In Chains should've won the Grammy
@@nosexinviolence.3358 that's what I said lol
I think it should of been the Spin Doctors 😂

I would believe that musicians didnt care if they didnt show up for the show.
In Poland we have that big (in local standards) award called Fryderyk (named after Fryderyk Chopin, our great composer). One of the greatest Polish artists, Kazik Staszewski, who comes from our specific punk scene, very often received this award with his band Kult, but since it is an award given by the industry, he never received it. I mean, he never showed up at the awards gala.
CLENCH THOSE TEETH...

When the red hot chilli peppers got inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame, john frusciante declined to come, despite being a large part of why they were inducted in the first place

Kurt Loder looked so confused the whole time Courtney crashed that interview with Madonna. LOL the way he looks at the camera like "wtf do I do" is priceless.
Didn’t realize of how much of a Pig she was (Courtney)!!!!!
I think it's the opposite. Kurt used to take pleasure in stirring shit up between pop stars, especially females. In countless interviews, he would try to get women to throw shade at each other. If you watch the whole segment, Kurt invited Courtney up to join them as Madonna begged him not to. He knew what he was doing.
I would purposefully try to win a Grammy just so I could get up on stage and say, “Thank you for buying a product.”
EDIT: did you guys know that when you say the same thing over and over it starts to lose its meaning?…. Yeah you need a new insult
Please, buy our product. © Peter Steele
But we all know it's a product. No one was oblivious to this fact. No one cared.
We live in a society.
wow, edgy
I think Vedder did say 'Thank you for liking our commercial' when they won awards for the Jeremy video 😆
I used to watch the Grammys like a good little boy. Took me a while to realize that it's based on album sales rather than actual artistic merit.
Do you think they would really look at that?
@@Dubscr I think he used sarcasm and the expression "used to" for a good reason...
How does one define or rate "artistic merit" exactly? Just kidding, I don't care.
@@brunobailly7013 i know that, its just a stupid statement. Like a good little boy? That's so demeaning to everyone who likes the Grammys. Im dead bro

HOOOOLLYWOOOOOD SQUARE!!!!!!!!
Abso fucking lutely. Had the luck of shaking his hand and getting his autograph when he came to New zealand back in 2010 during the second coming tour. Still one of my coolest memories, and FNM is still the greatest band ever!
Yeah, as a vocalist too, he is immensely talented. FNM is an awesome band.

Courtney Love is like a walking PSA for drugs and alcohol. And in that light she's incredibly effective.
A walking PSA for ?...You mean a walking PSA "against...", don't you ?
@@brunobailly7013 you joking?
@@HollowWaterso I'm not. Does her behavior make you WANT to use drugs and alcohol or does it make you feel DISGUSTED to use drugs ? That was basically my question. If it causes disgust... a walking PSA "against" would be a better preposition to choose.

I wonder if that was Jeff's Grammy at the museum since Stone's is in his basement gathering dust and Eddie supposedly uses his for a doorstop at his house.
4:38 prolly the best award punchline by non comedian ever,
You missed Alex Lifeson’s epic troll at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame. He is entire speech was “blah blah blah blah blah” - priceless!
Alex is a hell of a guy.
He's awesome👌
There's a person I recalled who went to his acceptance speech with a very long sheet of paper. Wasn't that Alex aswell or was that something different entirely?
I saw that, I was crying!! If memory serves, he did intersperse Geddy & Neil in a few spots. blah blah blah Geddy blah blah blah Neil blah blah blah! hehehehe
Iggy's acceptance speech is my response to every paycheck I receive 🤣
That Guns N Roses drunken swearing performance also marked the end of actual 'live' television. Stations were required to delay the signal so that it could be cut off before reaching the viewers after that awards show.
I thought it was because of Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake.
I'm from Argentina. One of our greatest rock artists was Luis Alberto Spinetta, whose career spanned from the late 60's until his death in 2012. He always was a low profile guy. In the nineties he started dating a big time fashion model, so going out with her they had magazine paparazzis all over them. His solution was to human billboard with a sign that read "READING GARBAGE DAMAGES YOUR HEALTH. READ BOOKS". His picture wearing the sign made front cover.
Kudos for saying "whose" and not "who's". Lots of retards use the two interchangeably despite being native English speakers.
Say what you like but for me it's all about Chino and the sheer weight of awkwardness that came to haunt this interview from absolutely nowhere.
Those little close-ups were like him asking himself "Why am I even here?" lol
He seemed more indifferent than awkward. Those b****es were fake a.f lol
@@indijanece8356 wym they were fake they just doing their job as interviewers lmao
@@paulohenriquerezendedesouz9810 um yeah. Obviously their job is to interview people/celebrities before the show. I am not an idiot.
It's just some of us are able to pick up on tone, body language, facial expressions, etc. They clearly had no idea who Deftones are. They seemed to want to coerce more excitement from the band- and seemed to get snobby when they did not succeed. Chino remained composed and respectful.
They were trying to pretend like they actually wanted to interview them (like if "he should be so lucky") when in reality- its probable that nobody else was giving these random journalists their attention.
Deftones are HUGE in the rock world and these bimbos were the ones that didn't seem honored by the privilege. These dudes are legendary- and yet still - they stay humble a.f.

So the Rage against the Machine bassist was arrested for climbing the set, but the comedy guy who recently punched the other comedy guy in the face walks freely. Lol
That's because "power >>>>> everything". While RATM was a notable band back then, their bassist was not exactly a big name. If it was Kurt Cobain up there do you think they would have arrested him? Because I think not....

Though I like a few of these bands and artists, I just feel like it's always the pretentious artists that always do this and not appreciate the fact that even though it is only chosen by the mainstream, they can't just acknowledge the fact that people like them and are happy to see them be awarded for their music
It's a performance made by elites full of lies in a fucked up industry, their only intention is art and to make statements, so it's not pretentiousness, it's being real. They ain't gonna act like most pop artist do, that's the real pretentiousness

Like what kind of temper tantrum shit is this lol, they're clearly doing it for the attention so they clearly care a little bit at least
I remember watching all of this on TV. Good times.
All of the bands say “We just came here to hangout and chill”
We just came here to sell our products, Eddie bedder . That I would respect much more than his bullshit I was eating lunch next door and saw slash so I thought I would stop by to say hi.
I dont know how many times I watched the GNR footage. Its the most funny shit ever
02:20 one of my favorite moments in MTV history
I love the rock and metal scene but man some of these people are such children
It’s nice to win an award because you get some acknowledgment for the work that you do, it’s not because you’re better than everyone else. Sure, some people act like it’s the latter but you can act like that about everything; work for a label you’re a sell out, accept an award and you’re a sell out. Maybe if you want to maintain a “cool guy” image then I guess you do this kind of stuff in public but I think it just makes you look like a douche.
In reality, if you really don’t care then just get up there and say “thank you” to the people who helped you get to where you are or just don’t show up. Getting on stage to talk into a mic in front of a giant crowd about how you’re above it all is more egotistical than just being appreciative.
Yeah like eddie vedder just gave off kid in school trying seem tough vibes. I respect the band and like the music, but most of these guys just seem like dickheads, ehich i believe is the opposite of what they want
Lmao Jesus someone is butt hurt because of a pearl jam comment

Clearly didn't have a speech ready, but didn't want to offend anybody either so softened the blow by talking about his dad.
@@BL00DYME55 was actually a pretty personal comment about his dad and i don't think he had revealed much about that at that time.
Eddy is an ego maniac hsp empath introvert with past addiction to weed which gives him empathy, but his pre-frontal cortex, limbic system and hypothalamus were under arrested development so he never matured timely and suffers from imposter syndrome and has trouble with boundaries both spiritually, metaphysically, and in the 3rd dimension drama of human emotion and psychical sensory input based on perception of not having a father figure. It’s deep..
He's right about that. He's more into his band and fans. But I'll take the damn award anyway. We're pearl jam if anyone doesn't know
The pixel that was supposed to be Slash' face made me laugh
The Grammies aren’t what they used to be. But sure sometimes musicians don’t like the commercialism of it all but also many musicians that were nominated don’t deserve it.
Milli Vanilli won a Grammy. They ended up having to return it when they got exposed for not actually singing any of their songs, but they won one nonetheless. Let that sink in on whether award shows mean anything.
And now auto-tune is all over the place anyway and people fake guitar play cause it looks cool. No problem.
Where's that oasis singer throwing the award.
I remember that's what he did
And it was Brit Awards.
Letting everybody know you don't care about things is really cool.
"Remember Joseph Goebbels." - Krist Novoselic is such an odd duck, and I love it!
Eddie Vedder…this means nothing, goes to show, walks on stage, takes award. It’s all an act, always has been.
I forgot why I and many others used to hate his fake ass so bad. And his schleppy speech was so cringe it hurts. "my dad died". what a tool
He’s so fake!!
Maybe they were forced to be there
@@blackcrow4218 They choose what attitude to take. They want to be seen as outsiders. If they act with gratefulness, it makes them look like the corporate mainstreamers they actually are. So they all fake being the bad boy in school.
Yeah, that grunge “everything sucks” affectation was so calculated. Why did they even bother coming?
Their whole vibe was literally like "okay yeah where here... so yeah bye"

Robert Smith from The Cure is missing on this list, when he got inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame.
He also says he is not goth but dress the part, i bet he wanted in the hall of fame so fking bad but pretended he dident like it beacuse he wanted to be seen as edgy and misunderstood lol, no offence, he makes great solid creative pop songs ( even though he would denay that to i bet lol)

"this means nothing", all of them act like they don't care yet they are all attending...
I like Cat Stevens speech when he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
I don't have full recollection of this, but in the mid- to late-90's, Garth Brooks received an Artist of the Year award at the American Music Awards, which is probably even more meaningless than the Grammys, if that's possible. Anyway, he takes the stage, explains that the nominees all made worthwhile projects, it shouldn't be a competition, and left the trophy on the podium. On one hand, everything he said was true, but on the other, it didn't achieve anything.
is good to see there are people with sense to realize the entire system is just BS

Is it cooler to show up to the Grammys or award show just to say “I don’t care” or to just not come?
Well when you finally really don’t care, you don’t show up. My friends shred in guitar and composing great songs. They really don’t care to be famous or sell their art as product. Eddie and Kurt suffer from Imposter syndrome and are/ were a bit confused about things like reality.

There's few things as cringe as musicians turning up to award shows and saying it means nothing. It meant enough for you to go to the show.
You have to. Contract with the label. Ik
You do not have to. Simple, Don’t sign the contract. Even if you signed the contract, don’t go, what are they gonna do? Sue you? Who cares about awards and money? What should matter to musicians is the record sales. Not the dollars per sale or total revenue but total of records sold. That is the number of people would found them important to listen to over and over again

I can't stand when people are smacking their gum while speaking!! (Deftones) 🤬But as for Eddie Vedder, I get his logic behind his opinion.
