So accurate. I’ve been trying to understand how to play closer to the album version of that riff for years!! It’s all about adding those muted notes in between the transitions. Thanks man!!
Professional explanation and video, Mick told me what everybody including myself was forgetting to double stroke every note so the palm mute comes on naturally without having to think about it.
@@deafdanny6299if i was a beginner and didn’t understand rhythm yet, him explaining every note in excruciating detail would teach me nothing because i have no clue what the rhythm of it would be. Nevermind him teaching the notes then playing the riff full speed without explaining the feel of it.
@@gamemusichd6809 You think you are going to learn it by watching it a single time? So you would get to the end of the video many times correct? which means you would get the exact thing that this comment is asking for.......
He literally plays it at the end WTF are you talking about!?.... Also.. If you want to learn this song, I assume you would be familiar enough with it that you would know what it sounds like!!! @deafdanny6299
Awesome tutorial, Though I gotta say love the shirt! the first song I heard when I was young that got me in to Metal was Refuse / Resist by Sepultura. I got my album to listen to for the day now.
Damn. Just when you thought playing guitar wasn't that hard. I didn't even understand a word 😂 I have so much respect for guitar players especially heavy metal guys
I always thought it was incredibly simple when i was in high school, and got away with the easy version that didnt have the muted notes included. Now that I'm trying to get back into guitar, that note makes the difference in both sound and boosts the difficulty in the riff a bit if youre not used to the tempo 😅
So good to see someone teaching a riff like this, which a lot of people judge to be simple, and it has to be teached by a guy with a Sepultura shirt 😂❤❤❤
I know absolutely nothing about guitars, so could you please tell me what to call the particular shape of that guitar and/or style? I’d like to look at more like it.
It's usually referred to as an X type. This particular model is a Balaguer Tartarus, and the most common ones would be the Ibanez Xyphos and the Jackson Warrior
Dude to get more views you should play a short sample/snippet in the beginning first then play it again at the end . I wanna know what it sounds like first before I want to try it .
I’ve been playing guitar for many years now. I’m not gonna say I’m good, but I’ve been playing slipknot for years and I can run through most of them pretty clean. But this one, for whatever reason trips me up the most. Recently I’ve been playing it better but it just seems to come out so sloppy
I’ve been playing this riff wrong the entire time I did not know the 0 was palm muted this is a riff that sounds simple but is surprisingly challenging
Just a tip. You don't need to explain and show things on such detail when we can already read the same from the tabs. Just show maybe not lenghts orn something.
Alternate muting seems to take a lot of coordination. I'm still trying to play that Juke Joint Jezebel riff correctly with the palm muted chugs in between. 😅
Ye cos bro explained it horribly. Why do all guitar educators do this. They teach you note by note like ‘first the open, then the hammer on, then the palm mute… blah blah blah. JUST PLAY THE RIFF IN TIME SLOWLY WITH AN ARROW POINTING AT THE TABS. then explain the notes after.
For the love of god, why don’t people demo the riff first to get a idea of the rhythm then explain it slowly. You give us the tab but explain note by note. I wanna hear how it sounds in context first!
For drop A or B tuning I would use Ernie Ball Not Even Slinky 12-56, for 6 string guitar. You might need to get your guitar set up for these, like intonation and action adjustments
GO 💁♀️
Lmao priceless
"Go" 😂 Dude, that AI kills me every time. Keep it coming! Thanks for the riff too. Your videos are awesome!

I repeat this only to hear "go"

That "go?" did that absolutely no justice I'm dying 🤣
Great production
thanks!
"all the way 'down' to drop B"... I love you dude
"and you're going to come to your low *E* string"
This is my favorite channel on UA-cam by far !!
Thanks man, I really appreciate that!
The AI was really like “go?” lmao
Awesome lesson btw dude! 🤘🔥
Thanks man!
Lol😂😂😂
That AI saying "Go" had me dying
Thank you for this content it is making my guitar journey much more enjoyable
That go was fucking great
Sick lesson🤘🏻
You are really gaining traction now😮. Good luck
Thanks!!
A tip for anyone that does these kinda videos, please start the video with the riff full speed before tutorial 🎸
If you let it loop, it kinda does just what you asked :)
He tells you the song and also plays the full riff at the end. Quit being lazy.

“Carve there’s something inside”
“Carve there’s nothing inside”
For those who know, you know..
I bet nobody knows Lol

This is really helpful but what tuning is it in?
Which pedals are you using if any at all? That chug is satisfying
Just running a Line 6 HX Stomp direct into my PC
Very cool, thanks for the response and your short yet knowledgeable tutorials!
such a great song. takes me back to motostorm.. Could always drive faster with that riff.
Bela camisa 🤘🏽🇧🇷
Nice..
This was before they forgot how to make good music. Love the old stuff.
You should mention the tuning riffs are in. As this is drop b. if someone doesnt know it could be a bit confusing.
he did, listen again

Cooool !!!! But how do I get the tone ????
I'm using a Line 6 HX Stomp with the ANGL Meteor Amp sim
@@mitchavedon thank you very much, I'm new to this 😅
nice
GO? Nearly killed me xD
Go! ❤❤❤❤
Beneath the Remains shirt?...nice.
Learned this on my own with no help when I was 15.
😱You’re insane
Yeah I imagine how that would sound 😂. You mean you learnt it from a tutorial or tabs. But it is not hard to learn just from watching someone
GO! 🙍🏼♀️

I wasnt ready for the Go, lmfao
Guitar 🎸 😠🔥🔥🔥 🤟🏽🤟🏽
"GO 🥰💅🏽💅🏽"
man I need a full-length lesson on the song please go a little more in-depth cause I can't get the first part
"go" saved the video
So hard 😀
i was thinking there was gonna be a "wait how do i do this again i forgot"
John Frusciante playing Slipknot. Nice.
“Go 😀”
In order to understand this song, I figured out that this song is on the key of C#m instead of Bm
Please tell me that's a joke
What are you playing through that is giving you that tone?
I'm using a Line 6 HX Stomp with the ANGL Meteor Amp sim
@@mitchavedon oh damn. I kinda thought you were using the peavey behind you
That's a sassy riff 💅
refuse / resist by sepultura?
👏👏👏👏
How do you equalize the amplifier?
All together it will sound like this...
Me: plays Smoke on the water.
The tabs make it look overcomplicated. I thought that just looping this part and trying to play together would be simple and fun.
Nice bro

Guitars are extremely complicated and difficult to play my hat goes it’s to those who have the talent
Musical instruments mystify me because my brain can’t wrap around the talent needed.
Looks like the bass zito bosio used from soda stereo (think I spelled the name wrong)
If you down tune to dropB it's not the E string anymore.
😉👍
Alternate muting seems to take a lot of coordination. I'm still trying to play that Juke Joint Jezebel riff correctly with the palm muted chugs in between. 😅
Downstroke on last note sounds better
It works slow but at full speed it becomes a mess for me :D
Try with a metronome and do it a little bit faster each day 👍
The original riff was actually from the song Carve from the MFKR era.
Could you give me a tip about palm muting? Would help me a lot 🫶🏻 hug form Portugal
Bro I’m so glad I didn’t learn guitar in this fast cut video era I would’ve gave up immediately 😂😂
Yeah, you really gotta sit with a tab book and just drill down on each part at your own speed looking at a piece of paper.

What strings are you using for a B-tuning?
For B I would use 12s Ernie Ball Not Even Slinky
