    Thanks for all the tips. I've probably watched 99% of your videos since winter and started my program following 85% of your steps early spring to start a new lawn. I'm starting to get some great results. Just a few things to spot treat from having to do a reseed in the spring like clover, and hitting areas a little too hard with fertilizer here and there. But my neighbors and family have been amazed by the transformation. These tips are what I'm implementing over the summer to keep it alive and well so I can do another good reseed in the fall. Thanks for sharing your passion with us for the ultimate goal of improvement and peace of mind!

    Soil quality and depth are also big factors. I have some dormant areas and the thing they all have in common is shallow topsoil with compaction or even gravel/soil mix just underneath. I think I’ll do some deep aeration this fall.

    Been throwing down the lawn booster and root hume for the last month. I really do prefer the liquid stuff over granular; I just enjoy putting it down more. Buy a sprinkler and a hose. It really doesn't have to be any more complex than that. The more money you spend, the less work you have to do, i.e. set it and forget it. Conversely, the less money you spend, the more work you have to do. A great lawn is possible either way.

    Ryan, I’ve learned a lot from your videos. Thank you. One thing I’m surprised you didn’t mention was soil pH. Should this be the first thing you look at before you start any lawn program? I’ve read that if the pH isn’t where it needs to be that you’re just throwing money away on product. Thankfully my lawn is looking good so I hope the pH is in range but I’m still going to test to see. Thanks again!

I have a question tho that I don’t believe has been addressed in your videos or your lawn guide. If I want elite grasses in my yard if I oversees long enough will the new grass overrun the old? Ive only been over seeding so far and it’s definitely looking better but what was thrown down I imagine was a construction grade seed and i really want rye there. Again, thanks for everyrhing

    Hey Ryan, just bought a house a month ago. The house I got has been left along Sense November of 2020 and the yard is toast. Weeds, Hay, Straw, random tree sprouts you name it I think I have it. All but Grass. How would be the best way to attack this as a 1000% complete renovation on the entire yard. All the way to redoing the sprinkler system. Thinking of going Sod back yard and growing from scratch front yard. But step 1. How to get rid of all the problems. I'm in NorthEast Colorado. Looking to make all this happen by Mid September. Hopefully it's a lot of work. Any good suggestions?

    Cultivars do make a big difference. I know another UA-camr who talks about keeping that “old school lawn” with grass that has made it in your yard for many years. I would put a lawn that renovated with newer cultivars up against that any day.
    I have an area that completely dug up and turned over 6’ down and then left with nothing growing on for a year. The soil is crap. I planted elite varieties on it and it stays dark green without adding iron, almost no seed heads, stays almost completely weed free, doesn’t get disease, and doesn’t grow as fast as the rest of the “old school lawn” with way better soil I have.
    Only issue I have had with newer elite varieties is they don’t come up from seed very well.

      Honestly i wouldn't add anything to it but continue to grow healthy and dense turf and that will start to aid in organic matter development on its own.

    I was watching another UA-cam Lawn video (another "lawn expert") and he stated not to use Fertilizers during summer months in Midwest. Not sure I agree
    I have always used small doses along with morning watering during dryer weeks. Thoughts?
    P.S. I have learned so much about lawn care from you. THANK YOU!

      I use liquid fertilizer every 2 weeks on my yard. It is absolutely a game changer to keep that up during the summer

    Dumb question - What do you recommend wearing when doing this lawn care? I don't mind using a sprayer (learning how to use one properly), but when using tenacity for example and a dye, I wanna know what I should wear to protect myself from any chemicals/dye? Just old jeans and a pair of work boots? Rain boots?

    Ryan, is it recommended to have a separate water/irigation Meter installed by your city or county for specifically an underground sprinkler system?
    If so, why?
    I found out it would cost $5000
    To have one put in on my yard!!!!

    I have 30,000 sq feet of summer fertilizer. In order to put down a low amount should I apply half at a time over two applications 3-4 weeks apart?

    What do you suggest for an area of the yard that doesn't really get any sun? It's between the house and a pretty tall, thick tree, that shades it very well, and probably doesn't allow much rain through either. It's really hard to grow grass in this strip of the lawn.

    • @ryanknorrlawncare
      @ryanknorrlawncare  3 роки тому +1

      You'll probably always have a tough time there. Fine fescues are best in shade or landscape it with shade plants

      @@ryanknorrlawncare Ok...I'm not sure what type of grass we have actually...are there certain kinds that do better with a certain amount of sun?

    I've been watching your videos a lot this year, and I have noticed an improvement in my lawn. But I'm having issues, maybe you can help me. Maybe not.
    I live in Central WI, and where I am the soil is mostly heavily compacted clay. I believe that poor soil is what gives me lawn issues. I struggle to get anything to grow, in regards to like trees and plants. Grass is okay. I do get some spots in my lawn, I've tried seeds and several commercial patch deals, but haven't had any luck so far. I again believe it's the soil issue. I aerated this past spring. I believe I should do it again. I cut to 3 inches, but thats down from 5 inches. I kid you not, I grew my grass to 5 inches long and when we had a bad draught, I only had to water once. Now that it's cooler but raining regularly, I went down to 3 inches.
    How can I get my lawn similar to yours, without a reel mower? Should I call it quits on my lawn, dump soil over the top, and start over next year? Should I aerate much more often? Help!

    • @ryanknorrlawncare
      @ryanknorrlawncare  3 роки тому +1

      Just keep core aerating (twice a year for sure) and you could consider a topdressing of compost or something with some organic matter in it to begin to change things for you in the right direction. It will definitely take some time.

      This spring I rented a plug aerator and did my entire yard. I dont have the budget or storage space to buy my own aerator, and have done a bunch of research on tow behind aerators. Do you think they work, or will work for what I need to do?

      There really isn't an easy way other than very gradual step down over time. Or all in at the beginning, thin it out so it cuts clean, and let it recover but I would not do the second option until fall
